Located on the stunning Tumut River, where River Red gums are scattered though out the camp,offering shade, privacy, and comfort. Here you have clear Snowy River water at your doorstep. It's so fresh we drink it! Each camping site is by the river, prime position for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Based on availability, you are welcome to choose your spot on arrival. All options are grassed and level. You will have access to pit toilets (3) otherwise, please BYO facilities. Small campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided, or BYO firepit (permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time). Firewood can be purchased at the time of booking. We’re pet-friendly! Please note, however, that we are a working farm with ongoing activities and resident animals, including livestock and farm dogs, so all pets must be kept under control at all times. Aggressive, disruptive, or potentially dangerous dogs of any type are not allowed — especially restricted breeds (e.g. Pit Bulls, Bull Mastiffs). Only friendly dogs are permitted, and we reserve the right to ask you to leave if your dog is deemed unsafe or aggressive upon arrival. If you have any doubts, please message us prior to booking. Also, please ensure kids are supervised at all times, particularly around the river. Lifejackets are recommended. During your time here, visit the local farm gates in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, and Adelong for their delicious high-country produce. There are also some beautiful swimming spots and walks to discover in the region, as well as good facilities in town, including the local swimming pool and shopping centre. Enjoy a local brew and bite to eat at the Tumut brewery. Bahwidgee is just 3km from the Tumut town centre - so close you could ride in, or even walk.

These sites are ideal for those with tents (including rooftop tents), swags and similar. We charge slightly less for these 'pitched' options, as find they tend to require less room than RV setups. Upon arrival, you are welcome to choose a spot along the river to set up camp, based on availability. We have 1km of river frontage at Bahwidgee, so there will be plenty of options to choose from! All options are grassy, level, and offer shade from the black wattle groves that line the river bank. Wherever you choose, you'll be in a prime position for fishing, canoeing, swimming, and just relaxing with the river views across your campfires. We permit one vehicle per booking, so if you have multiple vehicles in your group, please book multiple sites. There is one long drop toilet available, otherwise please come well-prepared with everything else you may need, including all camping and cooking equipment. We're just 3km from town should you need additional supplies. Enjoy clear Snowy River water at your tent door. It's so fresh, we drink it! Small, manageable campfires are permitted. Firewood is available to purchase at time of booking. Pets are welcome. Please keep in mind we are a working farm, with farm activities going on and resident animals, so please just keep your pets under control at all times. This area is a private camping area, tucked away from all other campers, where you can enjoy your own exclusive space and privacy. Whether you’re after a romantic, peaceful retreat or simply want space for you and your mates to enjoy to yourselves, this is a great option. Flat, grassy and nicely shaded, overlooking a small lagoon. It’s 200 metres walk from the river, so a short wander to enjoy fishing, canoeing and swimming. There is one long drop toilet (BYO toilet paper), shared with other campers, around 150 metres walk from the site. The site can take up to 20 people, and 6 vehicles. It's not suited to caravans, but ideal for tent campers, rooftop tents and small camper trailers. Please come well-prepared with everything you may need, including all camping and cooking equipment. We're just 3km from town should you need additional supplies. Small, manageable campfires are permitted. Firewood is available to purchase at time of booking. Whilst we are pet-friendly, we are a working farm with ongoing activities and resident animals, including livestock and farm dogs, so all pets must be kept under control at all times. The property has an easy flat driveway to pull through. All site options are grassy, level, and offer shade from the black wattle groves that line the river bank. Wherever you choose, you'll be in a prime position for fishing, canoeing, swimming, and just relaxing with the river views across your campfires. Such a beautiful, well maintained camp site. Wayne met us upon our arrival, recommend a fantastic spot and was extremely helpful with all our questions. We stayed for 2 nights, could have easily stayed for a week!

Wayne's property is absolutely gorgeous! We had a peaceful, easy night set up by the river and just soaked in the view. Wayne was a great host and I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a little slice of paradise.

Early February stay so there were only three other campers other than us and our daughter and partner. Lots of room overlooking the beautiful Tumut river, however access to the river is very difficult as the banks are quite steep. The only easier access points are where the cattle have eroded the bank to drink. The pit toilet nearest us, eastern end, was clean and as odour free as a pit toilet can be. Other than the limited river access it is a very pleasant place to camp.

We had a really great time camping on Wayne's farm. The river was so beautiful and we really enjoyed all the animal encounters (cows and playpus!) and abundant birdlife. It was quiet and the campsites were all spread out when we were there, so it felt nice and private. The ground is lovely and grassy with trees for shade. The campsite is close to town which was really convenient and there are some lovely day trips not far away for some adventure. We stayed for 5 nights which was so relaxing and it was hard to leave. Wayne is a really friendly guy too.

Nicely tucked away and plenty of waterfront sites with sounds of the river flowing. Good clean flowing water to go for a dip and cool you down on a hot day. Lots of shady spots to pitch a tent, roll out a swag or pop a rooftop tent. Thanks Wayne for opening up part of your property for camping

Perfect spot on the river which was great to float down on a hot weekend. Close enough to town for supplies. We extended by a night as we were enjoying so much. Ideal location between Sydney and Melbourne.

We had a great stay over the Aust Day Long weekend but we do have mixed feedback, simply because we felt the description wasn't accurate to our experience. So this review hopefully helps future campers make an informed choice. Positives; - Great host - warm, inviting, friendly and responsive - Easy location - almost straight off the highway, very easy to get too, easy to duck into town for supplies or a meal - Beautiful riverside spots - very pretty, even got to see a platypus! But - see Negatives as well - Set amongst cows and calves, so they roam freely around the river edge - Great fun to take a floaty and float down the stream, if you don't mind the walk back up to your campsite. Negatives; - Very tightly packed spots when busy. Almost like being in a caravan park - Tent sites are no different to RV sites, all mixed in together, so if wanting off-grid style camping, this isn't it. Caravans next to our tents had generators running etc - As the cattle are free to roam the camp area there is a lot of cow poo, which wasn't a big deal to us but may be for others - There is no place for kids to just play on the edge of the water/in the water. This is a very fast/deep moving river. We did manage to find a little safer swimming hole near our camp site but it was just good to dip in and cool off. Definetly can not leave kids unattended or unsupervised. Our 11 year olds had life jackets on the entire time. - There is a steep small descent to climb down to the water

When we arrived , driving in, it looked like there was not many spots near the river to setup. Drive in a little bit past the already established campers on Aus day weekend , and there was plenty of space down the rear on the river . Ground was level and flat , but we choose a spot with no shade for solar. The campers were well behaved and it was a great spot . The water was icy cold , and become addictive for some strange reason , you jump in , takes your breath away , you get out and want to do it again. Local friendly platypus was close to us and could give a hoot about us . At one stage I was half a metre away filming the little guy. We explored a State Forest close by, which had some not to hard tracks to follow, lots of fun. Great spot , we would comeback with either inflatable tubes or rafts, you could get dropped of further up the river , and ride the river flow straight back to camp. Thumbs up👍

Wayne is a top bloke. Its a great spot over there. Well maintained, lots of big trees for shade by the river. Few minutes from town but very peaceful. Will return.

We loved our stay! Thanks Wayne for checking in on us, and for letting us enjoy your beautiful property. The camp along the river is stunning and it was quiet and peaceful dispite a fair few campers being around. We never felt cramped and it is a beautiful location. We can’t wait to do the same next year!

Awesome spot on the banks of the Tumut River. Close to town if you need anything or want to get a pub feed, but far enough away that you do not hear any traffic. Was very busy over the long weekend, so may be avoid the peak periods if you prefer space and not feeling too cramped.
