Located on the stunning Tumut River, where River Red gums are scattered though out the camp,offering shade, privacy, and comfort. Here you have clear Snowy River water at your doorstep. It's so fresh we drink it! Each camping site is by the river, prime position for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Based on availability, you are welcome to choose your spot on arrival. All options are grassed and level. You will have access to pit toilets (3) otherwise, please BYO facilities. Small campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided, or BYO firepit (permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time). Firewood can be purchased at the time of booking. We’re pet-friendly! Please note, however, that we are a working farm with ongoing activities and resident animals, including livestock and farm dogs, so all pets must be kept under control at all times. Aggressive, disruptive, or potentially dangerous dogs of any type are not allowed — especially restricted breeds (e.g. Pit Bulls, Bull Mastiffs). Only friendly dogs are permitted, and we reserve the right to ask you to leave if your dog is deemed unsafe or aggressive upon arrival. If you have any doubts, please message us prior to booking. Also, please ensure kids are supervised at all times, particularly around the river. Lifejackets are recommended. During your time here, visit the local farm gates in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, and Adelong for their delicious high-country produce. There are also some beautiful swimming spots and walks to discover in the region, as well as good facilities in town, including the local swimming pool and shopping centre. Enjoy a local brew and bite to eat at the Tumut brewery. Bahwidgee is just 3km from the Tumut town centre - so close you could ride in, or even walk.

These sites are ideal for those with tents (including rooftop tents), swags and similar. We charge slightly less for these 'pitched' options, as find they tend to require less room than RV setups. Upon arrival, you are welcome to choose a spot along the river to set up camp, based on availability. We have 1km of river frontage at Bahwidgee, so there will be plenty of options to choose from! All options are grassy, level, and offer shade from the black wattle groves that line the river bank. Wherever you choose, you'll be in a prime position for fishing, canoeing, swimming, and just relaxing with the river views across your campfires. We permit one vehicle per booking, so if you have multiple vehicles in your group, please book multiple sites. There is one long drop toilet available, otherwise please come well-prepared with everything else you may need, including all camping and cooking equipment. We're just 3km from town should you need additional supplies. Enjoy clear Snowy River water at your tent door. It's so fresh, we drink it! Small, manageable campfires are permitted. Firewood is available to purchase at time of booking. Pets are welcome. Please keep in mind we are a working farm, with farm activities going on and resident animals, so please just keep your pets under control at all times. All site options are grassy, level, and offer shade from the black wattle groves that line the river bank. Bedroom 1: This expansive room is perfect for a couple or small family, featuring a king bed and a queen bed. Bedroom 2: Ideal for a group or children, this room has two sturdy bunk beds. One bunk bed has a double bed on the bottom and a single bed on top, providing sleeping space for up to 3 people. Bedroom 3: A smaller, but practical room, with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 people (double bed on the bottom and a single bed on top). Perfect for kids or additional guests. I loved camping at Bahwidgee! It’s so well maintained and right on the river. Wayne is an incredibly friendly host and his farm is beautiful. Only a short 3-4km walk into town (Tumut) and there’s a lovely river walk there too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back for sure.

Bahwidgee is an excellent spot, so beautiful being able to camp right by the river. The location was easy to find with the clear instructions provided. We saw a platypus in the river whilst we had breakfast in the morning.

This was our third stay here in 3 years and it still is our favourite camping spot. Wayne as always was a great host. It's so tranquil with the great grassy camp sites combined with the river the bird life the cattle the views of the surrounding area and maybe a trout or two make it just so relaxing. The new toilets were a added bonus. It's only a 10 minute drive Into town for supplies and entertainment. We will be back again next year. Rob

Easy access to a peaceful riverside grassed campsite with great views. Dog friendly! Close to Tumut for local produce. Franklin’s Butchers, Locals at Learmont and My Fruit and Veg are a must. Host Wayne a good operator. We will go back.

A lovely place right by the river. It was very peaceful and so green. The host was very accommodating, and has clearly put in a lot of effort to establish the Hipcamp.

A beautiful place! Peaceful, serene camping right next to the river. Was lovely to wake up to cattle wandering close by in the morning. Wayne’s directions were great, and the added firewood was abundant! Pity my fire lighting skills are less than average. Would love to stay again sometime.

Great location very peaceful and lots of space particularly when not busy. Seems to take in quite a number of campers including groups which might not be as enjoyable. Wayne responsive but not invasive at all.

Wayne was very accommodating and good with communication. Sites are well mowed and maintained. We went for a weekend fishing trip and unfortunately the river was flowing too fast with release of water for us to fish at the site. Regardless the campground is perfect, lots of shade, 5 mins into Tumut and a great host!

Waynes land was so beautiful and green 💚 Falling asleep to the sound of the river was pretty special 😍 Wayne was a friendly host, it's pretty awesome to be able to share a piece of his land for a night. There was heaps of space and it was super shady. Thanks Wayne 😘

The directions were clear, had the best time kicking back, Wayne you have a beautiful property and the cattle were a highlight especially the cows chasing a kangaroo from paddock to paddock, saw a mumma possum with a baby on her back at night. Would highly recommend this beautiful place. Day of leaving got a nice 30cm brown trout at 7am. Cooked it up for lunch. Thankyou Wayne for your hospitality. Definetly will book here again

Nice spot right on the river. Wayne was great. Busy on the long weekend but totally fine with heaps of space. His dogs are awesome. Lovely after everyone packed up on the Monday.
