SAME-DAY BOOKINGS MUST BE MADE BY 2 PM THANKS. Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port Arthur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef. We have many walking and bike trails through the 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers. The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited. The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible. Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty. There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained). Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land. We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach. All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky. Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats! Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife). We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!

Sounds Rivulet Campsite

1 site · RV, Tent85 acres · Murdunna, TAS
Sounds Rivulet is a private bush campsite at Murdunna for people to enjoy while visiting the Forestier and Tasman Peninsulas. Campers can expect to have the entire site to themselves, shared with only the local wildlife. Only one group can book the site at a time. Sounds Rivulet is a small freshwater stream that runs all year round and is less than 100 meters from the campsite. Sounds Rivulet is pet friendly and campfires are allowed in the designated area on suitable days, not on total fire ban days. Please check the TAS Fire website for updates on fire bans. The campground has easy access for large vehicles with a turning circle, suitable for people with two-wheel drive cars, large cars towing caravans and boats, not for very large caravans ( a guest found it too challenging to get their car plus 9 meter caravan into the site) . There is a composting toilet for campers to use, please bring your own loo paper. There are also public toilets located 2km away, near the Murdunna shop which stocks a small range of groceries, supplies, and fuel. There is also a jetty and boat ramp at Murdunna. The campsite is centrally located and provides a perfect base to explore the natural beauty the surrounding area offers. A five-minute drive south will bring you to amazing views over the Tasman sea cliffs and the Cubed Coffee Van at Pirates Bay Lookout. A further two minutes south will take you to Eaglehawk Neck Beach. Dunalley Bay is a five-minute drive north and a perfect place to watch the sunset over the Bay. The Tasman Peninsula is home to world-class fishing and hiking, there are also a range of surf breaks for all abilities and a sheltered beach a short drive from the camp at Sommers Bay. Kids under 12 stay free!

Cape Raoul Escape

2 sites · Lodging, RVs40 acres · Stormlea, TAS
Near the entrance to Cape Raoul NP and Shipstern Bluff, this is 40 private and picturesque acres of farmland with two sites. The first is suitable for self-sufficient stays if you have a small campervan or camping. Not suitable for caravans or bigger motorhomes due the steep narrow driveway. There is power available on the switchboard approx 20m from the most level part of the pad next to the uninhabited tiny home. I suggest cautiously reversing down the approx 50 driveway to take advantage of the stunning view. The area near the water tank is the most level. The second site is a beautiful Self Contained Tiny Home. See the stunning Sea Cliffs of Cape Raoul which is part of the world famous Three Capes Walk and it's also close to Port Arthur, The Remarkable Cave and McHenry's Distillery. A beautiful place to stay for a night while you explore this beautiful area. NOTE, while the view is amazing this is a very hilly block and dangerous if you're not comfortable reversing your van.

Bomana is a 36 acre property in Carlton River, on the way to the Tasman Peninsular. It boasts stunning views of Fredrick Henry Bay, kunanyi and neighbouring rural landscapes. The owners live on site (top corner of the block). We are offering two opportunities to camp/van/caravan on this delightfully private land. The best camping near Tasman National Park guide

Overview

About

Tasman National Park is a treasure trove of natural splendour, offering an array of activities for the adventurous at heart. From the awe-inspiring heights of Australia's tallest sea cliffs to the serene beauty of Fortescue Bay's white sands, the park beckons outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you're keen on coastal walks, kayaking amid the waves, or marvelling at the local wildlife, there's something here for every nature lover. And for those who wish to linger longer, the park's campgrounds provide a perfect base to explore and unwind under the stars.

Notable campgrounds

  • Fortescue Bay Camping: Nestled among tall blue gums and stringybarks, this campground offers a golden beach and a plethora of peninsula activities.
  • Bivouac Bay Camping: A peaceful retreat after exploring the coastal bushwalks, Bivouac Bay is an idyllic spot to rest and rejuvenate.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your spot, as campgrounds in Tasman National Park are highly sought after, especially during peak seasons.
  • Consider visiting during off-peak times for a better chance at snagging a reservation and a more tranquil experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies and be ready to book if a spot opens up last minute.
  • Explore nearby camping options to ensure you have a backup plan in case your preferred campground is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Tasman National Park is during the warmer months, from November to April, when the weather is ideal for outdoor activities. However, be mindful of the fire ban season, which typically starts in October, as this can affect camping and certain activities. Winter can be cold and wet, making some tracks less accessible and outdoor activities less enjoyable.

Know before you go

  • Always check for alerts on campfire restrictions or area closures before planning your trip to Tasman National Park.
  • Ensure you have a valid parks pass, which is required for entry into the park.
  • Be prepared for changing weather conditions and pack accordingly for safety and comfort.
  • Accessible facilities are available at certain attractions, but assistance may be required for some paths and lookouts.
  • Respect the park's rich Aboriginal heritage and natural environment by following the Leave No Trace principles.
