About the Land & Experience
Welcome to our homestead in the historic Goldfields town of Malmsbury! Situated on a peaceful 2-acre block on an old mine site, our property offers elevated views of the countryside, fresh air, and a glimpse into regenerative living. We practice permaculture, focus on soil health, and love building local community.
When you stay with us, you’ll share the land with our friendly free-ranging chickens and ducks, as well as our resident dog and cat. We love hosting and are always happy to share local tips on the best bakeries, wineries, hikes, and historic sites across the Macedon Ranges and Daylesford region.
The Accommodation (Spacious Caravan & Outdoor Living)
Your main sanctuary is a large, fully contained 10-meter caravan with plenty of space to relax:
Sleeping & Comfort: Private bedroom area with a comfortable queen-size bed (fresh linen and bedding fully provided), ample storage, and a split-system air conditioner/heater for year-round comfort.
Power & Appliances: The caravan is connected to power, so you can charge phones and appliances with ease.
Indoor Kitchen & Lounge: Equipped with a mini-fridge, a sink with running water for washing dishes, bench seating, a cozy rocking chair, and counter space.
Patio & Shaded Lounge: Step outside onto a dedicated patio shaded by a massive 12-meter shade sail and framed by a custom privacy fence—your personal outdoor living room.
Outdoor Amenities & Camping
The "Hillbilly" Shower & Composting Toilet: Rustic, functional, and eco-friendly off-grid shower setup housed in a small timber shed, alongside a clean composting toilet.
Outdoor Cooking & Dining: Features a dedicated outdoor cooking bench, a family-sized outdoor dining table under the veranda, and a barbecue setup for open-air meals.
Fire Pit & Firewood: Gather around the central fire pit under the stars for evening campfires. We offer generous firewood bundles on-site for $15.
Extra Guests & Tenting: Travelling with friends or family? We welcome up to 4–6 additional guests to pitch tents in the spacious backyard area right next to the caravan.
Pet Policy
Dogs Welcome: You are welcome to bring your dog! Because we have free-ranging chickens and ducks on the property, we kindly ask that all visiting dogs remain on a lead during your stay.
Getting Here & Location Notes
Train-Friendly: We are roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes from Melbourne by V/Line train (or 1 hour and 20 minutes by car). We sit alongside the local train line, so you will see the V/Line pass by roughly every 30 minutes during the day—a fun bonus for train watchers!
Incidental Road Noise: There is light background noise from the regional road about 50–100m away, but the site remains relaxed and peaceful.
