Bleeting sheep in the distance, kangaroos grazing below, eagles flying above, a true farm life glamping experience. The main operation here on the farm is cropping canola, wheat, barley, lupins and running merino ewes to grow fat lambs and wool. Tim and Susie with sons Joe and Sam live at the homestead 2km from the glamping site, we’re all happy to assist with any problems that may pop up. Book with us, and you'll arrive to your gorgeous tent furnished and ready to relax. The 5m Bell tent is uniquely situated in a secluded old tin shed amongst the Berrimal Hills with incredible 360 views on top of the peak. The accommodation is set up for couples, with a queen bed and many extra comforts to help you unwind, including the indulgent bath with a view (with hot water!), flush toilet, hot water shower, well equipped camp kitchen and more. If the weathers cool, warm up at the fire pit or by the wood burning fire. Book a gourmet boz with cheese and crackers, or order a pizza prep box for the gas pizza oven as additional treats during your stay. For larger groups, we can also provide a 3 metre bell tent or Carrie the Caravan both fully furnished for an extra fee. Message us for details.

The restored London House building in Scandinavian Crescent operates as a cafe and visitor information centre and is surrounded by an attractive community garden. At the corner of Scandinavian Crescent and Fyfe Street is the Talbot Pioneers Memorial Playground with BBQ and picnic shelters. A farmers market operates in the town streets every 3rd Sunday of the month. The pool is great in summer months and the general store is well managed by Prue and open 8am to 7pm every day 2 hours from Melbourne, 1 hours from Ballarat.

Also for those interested in exploring the sun through solar telescope or night skies through large Dobsonian telescope The hut has an inside wood heater and verandas this hut makes a cosy stay away. A 40 acre bush block with a Trust for Nature Covenant. This box-ironbark woodland block has 2 dams and plenty of wildlife, a great place for bird watching. A self guided nature walk on the property provides you with an introduction to the local ecosystem. There is also a bird list for the property along with photos and descriptions of some of these birds. There is a makeshift bird hide and binoculars that you can borrow. The hut has a double bed (bedding provided), undercover of the veranda is a gas stove with two burners and a grill, outside a long drop toilet, water tank (not drinkable) but drinkable water will be provided. The hut is close to one of the dams. Only one booking at a time so you won’t be sharing camping site with anyone. Owners live on the property but out of view and ear shot. A picnic set, kettle, camp stove and saucepans available for use. Solar lights inside, internal wood heater outside fire pit. An outdoor camp shower and a composting toilet is located near hut. Basic amount of wood provided for internal heater and cost $10 milk crate of wood for external fire pit, a crate should last a couple of hours. A guided 90 minute star gazing experience using 500mm diameter telescope is offered for $50/session to guests of the antechinus hut. Depending on the time of year you will see galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. This is only offered when conditions allow, clear skies and minimal moon. Note this activity involves use of step ladder due to size of telescope. There is also solar astronomy, view viewing the sun through hydrogen alpha telescope. $30 for 30 minutes. There are great bike rides off and on road, close to Cairn Curran (15km) for fishing and kayaking, also plenty of bushwalks and bird watching sites nearby. Newstead 5km away whilst Daylesford, Maldon and Castlemaine are about 25km away.

The St Arnaud Caravan Park is a small park situated in an elevated location and ideally positioned close to the recreation reserve, which is just a short stroll to the main street of St Arnaud. Our home is atop a hill with peaceful and serene 360 degree views to die for. The property in Waterloo is a 200-acre working farm with Murray Grey cattle and Cheviot sheep, and, of course, many kangaroos. We have a campsite available near the house, under a beautiful Yellow Box tree. Power is available if required. Alternatively, one or two bedrooms are available in an independent wing of the house with a private bathroom and toilet. There are cafes and eateries in Beaufort which is only 10 kilometres away. The town also provides a supermarket, hotel, chemist, hardware store, and butcher shop, with many other spots of interest. The railway station has regular services to Ballarat and Melbourne which take 1 to 2 hours journey. The Pyrenees Wine region is also on the doorstep. A public dump point is available in Beaufort. Yellow Box Hill is backed by the State Forest so there are ample walking trails, as well as in the Mt. Cole area. Information about the region is available at the Beaufort Community Resource Centre and Library. Gold detecting is very popular as Waterloo was a gold-mining town in the 1850's. Surely, there has been some left behind! You are welcome to stay a night or a few days, or as arranged.

Green Bush Have is 5 acres of natural bush in the Goldfields are of Victoria. It has a natural dam and the whole property is bushland. I tis only 3 minutes drive to Newstead, and 12 minutes drive to Castlemaine, both wonderful old towns, with Castlemaine being famous for it infrastructure. There is a house and caravan on the property, very comfortable and is totally off grid. The only sounds you'd hear are the birds and frogs, with the occasional owl call.

Maxine is such a genuine and kind host, we felt like we were visiting an old friend! She was so fantastic with my two kids, and so generous with her time. She has sheep, cows, cats, dogs, a horse and even a rescue hare! Her four dogs are so friendly and well behaved - when we left, my kids were really sad to leave the dogs behind. Weekend Trip to Kilbirnie Peak Glamping

I cannot recommend Kilbirnie Peak enough for a relaxing weekend away! We spent our first anniversary here - and between the assortment of lounging options, outdoor bath under the stars, epic sunrise/sunset, open air shower, fire pit, pizza oven, bird life, comfy tent, regal resident alpaca, we were spoiled for choice on ways to unwind. The midday checkout was also a treat too, no alarms necessary and more time to sit in the bath! The host Susie was incredibly responsive and helpful. We will absolutely be back. ❤️🌅

This glamping experience was phenomenal. So relaxing and everything you need is right here! The view is breathtaking and watching the eagles over the gully was amazing. Staying at the echidna retreat was extremely peaceful and relaxing, the facilities and amenities provided were clean, tidy and plentiful. Clear instructions were provided on the listing, by the host and on instructional paper in the accommodation. The views, weather and animals surrounding were beautiful as well as the local towns which were rich in culture and provided plenty of site seeing opportunities. The stars were unbelievable and bright as well. We saw an echidna within 5 minutes of our arrival and kangaroos greeted us every morning before the sun fully rose. Would highly recommend to any people looking to have a peaceful stay away from all the noise and pollution of city living.

Highly recommend Kilbirnie Peak Glamping if you’re looking for a country getaway. 360 degree views of the country side, comfy bed, bath on the deck (with hot water), toilet and shower (it is glamping), pizza oven and BBQ, fire pit (when it’s not a total fire ban), lots of sheep and an alpaca 🦙, had yummy homemade cookies waiting for us, so many little touches (mozzie coils, usb fans, phone chargers, lovely toiletries, plenty of towels, speaker), just wasn’t a long enough stay ❤️ Susie is a fabulous host and great communication. Will definitely be back again.

Beautiful and clean. The mini golf was a big hit (no pun intended), and the little quaint indoor stove kept the cabin warm on a cold night. Ian was friendly, communicative, and checked in regularly to ensure we were ok. The block is easy to find, and there is plenty of tank water available. The bush kitchen was cute, and the table near the fire pit was lovely to sit at. The cabin has enough beds and chairs for family.

The hosts are very welcoming and have a beautiful block of land where everything has been thoughtfully set up to provide all you need for a peaceful, private and interesting escape from the city.
