An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river. For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket. Natural Surroundings & Activities: Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails. The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. It's a little like McDonald's Farm, an array of birds and animals. There's an orchard, hothouse and a Raspberry patch which may be my favourite spot when they're fruiting. We loved it here! The owners are soooooo nice! The kids loved feeding the animals, we were given some eggs, and the girls even got to add to the fairy garden before we left. Wish we could have stayed longer. Check out the farm shop, too..the pepper berry is delish!!!

We highly recommend staying here at Shep’s Farm. Definitely worth the 12 min drive from disembarking the SOT. Steve was a truly nice and helpful guy. We absolutely love our stay here. The green paddock and beautiful dam was so nice to camp beside and we even spotted a platypus.

This was the perfect end to my Tasmania trip, the private hot tub was so relaxing, & the addition of native essential oils from Bert the owner was amazing. Smelt delicious & no mosquito's! Lots of birdlife, & as it got dark the fairy lights came on & I was visited by wallabies, pottoroos & even a tiny tree frog! Highly highly recommend, will definitely be back next visit.

Absolutely fantastic place. Location is great. Only 15 minutes to Spirit terminal. You can base yourself here and explore so much - Sheffield, Latrobe, Cradle Mountain, Deloraine and so much more. Or just sit by the dam, relax and watch the animals, lookout for the platypus! If you like a fish there is trout for catch and release. Steve and Michelle are very accommodating and their hipcamp is certainly a bit of paradise. Would totally recommend booking here.

2 nights at Duckbill Banks Camp & Hot Tub

Duckbill Banks is set on a generous, flat, grassy meadow next to the creek. Sites are well separated and sheltered by trees. Bert set us up with a large shared wood fired hot tub with our one fellow guest on the first night after we'd all decided we were happy for a chat and with a smaller tub next to our site on the second night. It's a lovely way to spend the evening and watch the stars. We'd highly recommend Duckbill Banks as a lovely place to camp. Unfortunately the platypus' didn't make an appearance while we were there.
