Heimat Farmstay is an animal and nature lovers paradise. Tours can be arranged at weekends to meet our gorgeous fluffy Highand Cows, mini donkeys, mini goats and alpacas They are all friendly and waiting to meet you.
Our guest area offers 2 powered ensuite sites suitable for a caravan, motorhome or camper van; a communal BBQ shelter with dining facilities and our rustic bushman's hut. The bushman's hut is full of country charm and is the perfect spot to gather in the evening for dinner or a game of cards and a nightcap.
Set on a hillside in Black Hills overlooking New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley, Heimat Farmstay offers breathtaking panaromic countryside and mountain views. Mount Wellington, the Sleeping beauty range and mountains of Mount Field national park can all be seen from the property.

Our adorable fluffy Highland cows love a good brush and are always jostling for attention, some of them are also keen on treats of apple slices.
Our trio of Suri Alpacas are a wonderful blend of goofy and graceful. They will come and say hello and Thunder gives cute 'eskimo kisses'
Penelope Jane (PJ) and Duncan are our gorgeous mini donkeys, they are endless fun watching them play and wrestle. They both love a good scratch and cuddles and plenty of human company.
Our 3 mini goats Huckleberry, Dudley and Elfie are cheeky little chappies and what they lack in size, they make up for in character. They all like a good head scratch and pat
Wildlife Encounters:
We also share our 100 acre hobby farm with an array of Tasmanian native wildlife including wallabies, pademelons, possums, echidnas, bandicoots, wombats, quolls and even Tassie Devils. Wedge tail eagles and hawks soar the dams, native hens (turbo chooks!) rush around the paddocks and if you are lucky you may spot a tawny frogmouth sitting on the fence watching for his prey at night.
Nature enthusiasts and photographers will find plenty of opportunities to observe and capture the unique flora and fauna of Tasmania.

Located an hours drive North West of Hobart near the quaint little town of Ouse (pronounced - ooze) and set on the pristine Derwent River. Like so many of the towns on the Derwent River, this region is very popular with bushwalkers, fishing enthusiasts, and mountain bike riders.
Overlooking the "pot-belly" of the Derwent River, This place is a fishing and kayaking heaven . Have a swim in summer, kayak or go for an adventure on your mountain bike. There are two kayaks and two SUPs you are welcome to use. And there is a boat ramp just a few kms down the road to launch your boat.
The Bunkhouse is a beautifully built structure, with large windows and plenty of space. It's two storey, with the upper open-plan level accommodating 8 people in single bunk beds. A further two guests can sleep on the large sofa bed downstairs.
The bunkhouse is fully self-contained with a kitchenette, toilet and shower.Clean sheets and blankets . Wi- Fi and streamed TV movie channels Please note - this is not the ritz! It's a simple bunkhouse, providing shelter to sleep, in a great location. If you wish to make use of the firepit, you'll need to BYO wood, this firepit is not often used. Instead, we'd recommend bringing a small portable bbq with you to set up by the river!

Our cottage is located at the back of our 1 acre property still far enough away so privacy is not an issue, being able to enjoy the peace and quiet of our beautiful country town while listening to the birds chirp away.
One highlight of our cottage is the loft bed allowing a fully functioning kitchen, room for a lounge & dinning table as well as a neat bathroom.
Only a couple minutes walk to the local cafe and bakeries and a short drive to local attractions.
We are happy for guests to walk around the property but to stay to the back of the property and the cottage driveway and to not walk around the main house or the dog yard.
Please note that within Tasmania mobile phone coverage is scattered when not with Telstra and sometimes Optus.
Due to being on tank water we do not offer guests laundry facilities but there are some at Port Arthur.
We do not have a fire on offer for guests to use.
