Base Camp Tasmania (BCT) is a 41-hectare bush property in south-eastern Tasmania, situated in Glenfern in the Derwent Valley. We are approximately 13 km south-west of New Norfolk, and 50 km from Hobart. We have a range of accommodation options, including camping, a ten bed dormitory and a self-contained family cabin. All guests have access to the communal facilities comprising: * kitchen and common room * toilets and hot showers * free laundry facilities * free barbeque facilities * free Wi-Fi Discover the variety of unique Tasmanian animals and birdlife on the property, or take an easy drive to some of Tasmania’s most renowned World Heritage wilderness areas and National Parks a short distance away. Due to our driveway access, we do not recommend booking our site if you are towing a caravan.

Please note: a section of the property is fenced off at the moment in preparation for a wedding in January. This reduces the area of the campsite a little and makes entry tighter for big rigs so anything over about 10m will find it tricky. Please consider this before booking. The good news is that till after the wedding, we’re only opening one campsite so you can be guaranteed to have the whole place to yourselves! For the rest of the description, please see below Deep Glen is a beautiful, quiet 5 acre property at Eaglehawk Neck, gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, fishing, swimming, diving are all at your doorstep, not to mention the famous Three Capes Track and the Port Arthur Historic site just a short drive away. If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking. As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs. There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van. My property is located on South Bruny Island, renowned world wide for its natural beauty and untamed coast , situated in Cuthberts Road is Homebush, built by my grandfather after his return from South Africa, Boer War around 1905, neighbouring some of Bruny’s best National Parks and close by surf beaches ( Cloudy bay, Adventure bay etc ) activities are a plenty, coupled with the glorious food available from Oysters,Cheese,Honey and the Winery, these are just a few of the available options for your trip to Homebush. Sites for vehicles are close by to a all year running creek, paddock access with private locations, no toilets or showers provided, Council have installed a refuse site for processing of grey waste etc nearby

Located at the access to Tasman National Park, and sections of Cape Raoul and Shipstern Bluff. A great base from which to discover popular hiking, climbing, and world-renowned surfing in the area. There are Mountain biking options in the area but just not within the National Park. Campers must be nature-orientated travelers, this is not a place suitable for Port Arthur only tourists.

Loved this spot, Peace and Tranquality. Well located also. 15 mins to Cloudy, Cafe within 5 and Cracking Winery within 10. Loved seeing all the Caravan Parks jammed in like sardines. No thanks.

We ended up here after we had to leave another camping area! And wish that we had come here first! It was everything we needed! Very peacefull and quiet! Rod was great pointing us in the right direction! It was a perfect base for Bruny! Next door was a lovely garden that we explored too! Our site had just been freshly mowed! On a creek, we were able to have a firepot which was great! Would reccomend rods hipcamp to anyone who is headed to Bruny! Thanks rod!

Ein sehr schöner campground. Nette und umsichtiger Gastgeber. Man hat dort seine Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit ohne auf Annehmlichkeiten verzichten zu müssen. Viele Tiere sind zu sehen, man kann sie beobachten oder selbst füttern. Die Anfahrt ist etwas verwirrend, aber wenn man es gefunden hat wird man belohnt. Wir empfehlen es unbedingt weiter.

Hosts were super accommodating to the fact that I accidentally booked the wrong night!! As a young solo female traveler I felt so so safe! Got to meet the owner and their neighbour who were lovely, jack the wombat was good fun!! Driveway was a little intimidating but I made it up in one piece :) Well worth the stay, hope to come back soon! Thanks for the stay!

Weekend Trip to Deep Glen Coastal Campsite

Perfectly placed campground on the Tasman Peninsula, just above Pirates Bay. What we loved most was the two camp sites had plenty of space, and we didn't feel like we were crowded in. Easy access to each site, long drop toilet available, and a lovely area to explore. Cubed (retro coffee van) is a short walk away for a lazy start to Saturday and Sunday mornings. The 'best bang for buck' bushwalk to Waterfall Bluff is an easy 10 minute drive, and thoroughly recommended. We took our own firewood however the hosts can arrange this if you don't have your own supply. We fell asleep each night to the distant roar of waves, with the occasional hoot-hoot of an owl. Other visiting night-life included pademelons and bandicoots. Our hosts provided sound local knowledge, and we will definitely be back again.

Quiet and peaceful spot with a far off view between the trees of the cliffs in the distance, a beautiful beach just down the hill and a drop toilet provided (we had our own bathroom in our camper so didn’t use it). We bought some wood and it was a very generous amount! Stephen was very friendly and had lots of good tips for walks to do nearby (we were there to walk Cape Huay). It was lovely!

We loved camping at Stephen & Janelle's. It was spacious, quiet and had lovely views. It was a great place from which to explore the Peninsula, with lovely beaches nearby. Would recommend for a peaceful stay.
