What a beautiful place! Animals galore and very homely! Loved relaxing in the hammock, sheep even left me alone after they saw I had no food😍 Such a great spot and so glad we picked it for our first night of our Tasmanian honeymoon adventure!

Loved camping with the opportunity of interacting with the beautiful animals on Eventide Sanctuary … such characters! The view was stunning. Ian is doing an amazing job with these rescue animals and we appreciated the experience of being amongst it all. Highly recommend.

Gordon was very welcoming and hospitable. His land was great, got to pick our spot from a huge area. Was very protected from the wind down in the valley. Was good to have a bush toilet and fire pits.

Weekend Trip to Semaphore Farm

On our second night it rained so the camp kitchen was a god send to get out of the rain which was very roomy. There was an excellent gas shower and Barry was very friendly and welcomed us on arrival and gave us our choice of where we wanted to go, he was very accommodating would definitely visit again.

We enjoyed the easy relaxed location. Quite peaceful with lovely rural views. Having an honesty system for the fire wood is a nice touch reminding me of the past when trust was important. The toilet was clean and well maintained. We will return for another camping trip.

Mariana was such a wonderful host. We loved hearing about the history of the farm and how it was built and used by family first. You’re an amazing business women and should be proud of your accomplishments! It was beautiful walking down to the beach at sunset. The campsite is very basic but everything we needed.

Lovely quiet spot along the river. We kayaked 20 minutes down and came across a fur seal. Lots of platypus about. Derek was very friendly.

Camping at Semaphore Farm was a very pleasant experience. Although we only stayed for one night, the instructions were clear, and everything was explained to us upon arrival. Communication was smooth and friendly overall. The camp is located in a beautiful setting and has everything you need — great facilities including a clean toilet, shower, and a cozy kitchen/common area. I definitely recommend it!

The topography slopes up from the road to a large flat top and is dotted with weathered gum trees. There are sweeping views in all directions, including a view of the sunrise to the east and spectacular sunset views toward Hobart's Kunanyi (Mount Wellington). The property has good access for all vehicles and there are plenty of flat sites for camping at the top of the property. Some minor leveling may be required in parts for RVs and Caravans. Plenty of space though to find your own peaceful, private patch. And you're welcome to bring your dog along too! Please note: some front wheel drive motorhomes have encountered difficulty getting up the driveway. We have one toilet available for shared use, self contained campers are encouraged to use their own facilities where possible. Situated within the Coal Valley Wine Region and just 30 minutes from Hobart, the property is the perfect location for travelers looking to sample glorious local food and wine, before returning to their picturesque base camp to recharge. Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port Artur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef. We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers. The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited. The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible. Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty. There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle! Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained).

The Mount Managa Forest Reserve is very close by, with access to forestry tracks for bikes and hikes. Also very close to some great beaches where you can enjoy water activities. There is a boat ramp on the other side of bay approximately 5kms away. There are shops and cafes just down the road at Adventure Bay. 1.5 hours drive from Hobart. Guests must be full self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Campfires are welcome in the fire pit provided. Pets are allowed off leash but will needs to be under control at all times.

Three Creeks Farm Private Campsites

The Woodlander and Back Paddock Campsites are Private Campsites located @ thelittlegardenfarm. Private campsites (approx 400m away from each other) all to yourselves within a short drive to many Bruny Island attractions. The Little Garden Farm is our new 100-acre forest and pasture farm that we will begin improving over the next 18 months. The property is located at the base of Bruny's Isthmus, enjoying cool sea breezes in summer and mild temperatures in winter. The Woodlander Campsite is set in our bottom forest paddock, next to a dam, with a seasonal winter creek. It is private and peaceful, with no other campers, houses, or nearby neighbours. We welcome travellers, with up to two vehicles, who are here to enjoy the peace and quiet (no parties please). The campsite has its own separate access, site toilet, solid picnic table and chairs, firepit and and is approximately 600 meters from where we live. Next to 70 acres of forest the location is great for birdlife, with many of Tassie's endemics around, and other wildlife abundant after dark. We are always happy to help with birding or wildlife tips! Based approx 5 minutes from Alonnah and 10 minutes from Adventure Bay, the "Woodlander" is central to so much of what Bruny Island has to offer.

The Duck Hole at Farnese Olivo

Farnese Olivo is a family hobby farm set on 5 acres overlooking the Coal River Valley in Acton Park, just 15 minutes from Hobart CBD. The Duck Hole is a historic farm dam offering a quiet rural experience. We highly recommend 4WD only between April and August due to large amounts of rain periodically. All campers have free access to: - potable drinking water - shower (open air, cold only) - outdoor basic cassette/camp toilet for tent bookings only, we ask if you are self contained to use your own facilities - rubbish bins - fire pit and firewood - cast iron bbq plate and skillets for cooking in the fire pit - picnic table and chairs overlooking the dam - dam side hammock The property was established in the early 1980s on the site of one of Hobarts oldest farms (the original house built in 1826 still stands as a beautiful family home 2 doors up on our street). We are home to three friendly hand reared sheep - Daisy, Frank and Bill who love pats and food. Muscovy and Indian Runner Ducks, Chickens and many native birds. Overlooking the historic dam there is a shared fire pit with firewood supplied. There is a dump point within 6km, located in Cambridge Park for those with their own toilet. Some minor leveling may be required. The sheep pen and duck hole sites are pretty much flat. As we have farm animals, you will get to hear our sheep and ducks enjoying their environment. However, it is very quiet of an evening/night. We love meeting new people and are passionate about our property we can’t wait to share it with you and your family! Check in MUST be between 12pm and dark due to safety and our council permit. If you require check in after dark please contact us prior to booking to arrange.

Idle Valley

Very private valley nestled between two mountainous sandstone ranges. 3.5 kilometers from Colebrook, via Yarlington road. The property in total size is 37 hectares half of which is gently undulating grassland slopes. These slopes lead to the banks of the beautiful Iles Creek which runs nearly all year round. The western range across the creek includes numerous caves within comfortable walking distance. The highest cave provides magnificent views to the East coast. Camping options include non-designated sites either side of the creek under the huge black-wood trees, restricted to 4-wheel drive vehicles during winter and spring months, with a secluded site with year-round access for all vehicles. At the entrance sits the first of the designated sites, the rest are accessed via the meandering road down 300 or so meters to the camping ground entrance for the other two sites. The last 500-700 meters of Yarlington road leading to the entrance is quite steep. Some two wheel drive vehicles towing large vans have found this challenging, while others haven't. The two main camping areas now have a 'bush loo' in each site. if you wish to use these please use your own paper. Also, now for camper convenience the whole area has access to the campers' lounge and resource shelter. It contains First Aid and snake bite first aid kits. Water is available here.
