THIS IS A WORKING FARM WITH MANY FREE ROAMING ANIMALS! Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility. (there is a landline telephone in the big house so you can make a call if you need to, it is a private number)

We loved our visit to Jonathan’s Hipcamp. He was a fabulous host visiting daily offering to take kids on tractor, ATV rides, bringing carrots to feed the horse, offering tourist tips. Kids loved their time in the outside bath, building bike jumps, exploring the property. We loved the quiet location and would love to return some time. We share the camp with 2 families and it was a lovely atmosphere.

We camped up on the highest campspot on the property. It is on a hill but we had no trouble with our 18ft van. Loved the outdoor bath. Johnothan came up and had a yarn. Great fellow and left us to enjoy. Rode our bikes to the Derby trails and came back to a lovley quiet camp at night.

Adam was a wonderful host. Clear directions & we were very happy with our site. Only 2 sites & we were lucky to have this beautiful area to ourselves. Dogs loved the access to the water, mingling with the calves & the grassed area to run around. We made this our base & found the locals friendly while supporting the town (only mins away). Would definitely recommend for any size. Great level areas with enough space & a bonus, is the views. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful farm with us!

We absolutely loved this place! We cam e in search of warmth as rain and wind pummelled our van, and man did it deliver. We enjoyed nightly fires in the quaint little hut and an outdoor wood-fired hot bath, plus spectacular scenery. Cheers for an incredible stay.

This site was amazing, gravel driveway and pad to set the van up on. Beautiful views and amazing sunsets, kids loved playing soccer in the paddock! Melinda was an excellent host, very responsive and easy to deal with. The site was a nice fit for our large 9m Ofroad van, simply reverse up the driveway to make setup easier. We would love to come back and visit one day!

We had a lovely time at Jonathon’s place catching up with extended family. Jonathon was genuinely interested in our experience while staying at his place, first with getting us settled and always responsive and happy to be helpful without being overbearing. We were pleased to find a Dutch oven in the rustic kitchen shelter to use in the fire drums provided for an outdoor cooking experience. Jonathon has done landscaping work to make the campsite attractive to campers and the outlook to the surrounding hills is spectacular. We would recommend staying here.

What an awesome spot! Loved the camp, loved Derby. We ended up staying at extra night! The camp was beautiful and peaceful, but I only 2 mins from town. John was an amazing host - helping us out when the kids got sick, taking them for buggy rides and just being all all round nice guy. Would highly recommend this camp :)

Besides google maps doing us dirty and sending us through forestry roads (go towards Mathinna not memory road) - this stay was great! Charly and her dogs greeted us on entry and she directed us towards a peaceful little patch down by the river. In the morning, we got to eat our brekky with the view of the cows grazing and mountains in the horizon. Highly recommend for a rural farm stay. Thanks Charly!
