Our cosy private tiny house/shack. It is close to beaches and a lagoon. The Bay of Fires is 40min north and Wineglass Bay/Freycinet National Park 1hr south. Relax night and day in a fire pit lounge area crafted with dry stone (large soft cushions included) plus an outdoor fire bath. A small separate shed houses a flushing toilet and gas hot water shower. The block has mains power; solar power and tank water. The block is surrounded by local endemic shrubs, trees and ground covers. We provide firewood, linen for the comfortable double bed, condiments for the fully equipped kitchen that includes crockery, cutlery, a fridge, a gas cooker, air fryer, sandwich toaster, camp oven, water etc. Just bring your clothes and food. The block is in a quiet coastal hamlet (with gravel roads and no street lights) ideal for beach and lagoon activities (surfing, walking, paddling, bird watching). Our 2 person sit on kayak is at the tidal lagoon 5 min walk away. We have crafted this space over a number of years for personal use and now would like others to experience it. There is an undercover outdoor small kitchen with a 2 burner gas stovetop, basic kitchenware (with hand-held coffee grinder and aeropress), sink, solar lighting and rechargeable camping lanterns. The toilet is a private eco-throne with a view to Bare Rock. It is composting and only a short walk from the cabin. We provide you with wood for the indoor wood stove, an esky, bed linen, towels, tea-towels, basic kitchenware, cooking basics and toilet paper. The kitchen sink and bath water comes from a spring fed dam, perfect for washing your dishes and bathing in. Please bring your own fresh drinking water. Please note this is rustic accommodation, the cabin doesn’t have 240v, only a solar powered charging port with USB-A/C inputs to recharge the camping lanterns and your devices. You may wish to bring head torches for night time reading and card games! There is no wifi available but there is strong mobile phone service. Fingal is fondly known by the locals as "the Valley", and hosts several coffee and food vans for travellers passing through. Located just a 20 minute drive from the Hobart CBD, this beautiful 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track. Activities you can enjoy here include birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bike riding, dog walking. You'll be staying in a fairly new comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy hot showers, a flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. There's mains water. With prior notice you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the clothes line strung between trees. Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension. I hope to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else take the short walk to Kingston Beach and the excellent cafes and restaurants there for a bite to eat. Food scraps must go in the compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Longer pieces of firewood are provided free of charge and kindling can easily be collected from around. (Please don't use the shorter pieces of cut firewood as they are for my wood heater). You could enjoy a wood fired bush bath at extra charge, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Early evening is the best time to enjoy a bush bath and star gazing with set up in the afternoon. Wildlife on the property includes birds, wallabies, possums, echidnas and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. I have an older Jack Russell who is afraid of big dogs, sorry. The Bohemian Beach retreat was just the cosiest place! We absolutely loved our time here - you can tell a lot of love has gone into this place over the years and it feels like home. The outdoor fire pit and bath were highlights. Note the toilet and shower are an outhouse and if its poor weather it can be a wet trip there and back. In saying that - not a negative for us.

Such a beautiful location, abby has thought about everything you need to be comfortable. Kitchen is managable for simple cook ups and the bath is fantastic. Be aware that the charging station is very limited for power. Also wasnt expecting such close neighbours. All in all would definitely recommend and would consider staying again!

Weekend Trip to Valley's Nest

This weekend was a birthday present for my wife. She loved it at Valley’s Nest. Calm and peaceful with beautiful view. Very comfy bed, lovely fire that kept us warm. She had a long bath on Sunday taking in the view again. We also loved exploring Fingal and St Mary’s. Great meal that the St Mary’s pub and watched a platypus in the River running past the pub. Great weekend.

We had such a beautiful weekend staying at Mike and Sheena’s Boho beach retreat, it felt peaceful and welcoming. We loved that our dogs could come along with us — it made the weekend feel even more special having them there. The space itself was perfect — simple, cosy, and had everything we needed. It was so nice to switch off, unwind, and enjoy the quiet by the beach. The fire bath was such a highlight — sitting in the warm bath in the rain was pure bliss. We left feeling relaxed, reconnected, and already talking about when we can come back.

Weekend Trip to Sea Cliff Lookout Bus

Breathtaking! I watched a whale breach multiple times through the binoculars from the deck, had a relaxing soak in the outdoor fire bath, wandered the beautiful forest that surrounds the property, and enjoyed all of the wildlife even a white goshawk and pademelons with joeys! The bus is so comfy, cosy, the fire inside made sure of that. My second, visit and many more to come. A truly beautiful escape.

To anyone who wants the camping experience with all the creature comforts, look no further than Valleys Nest! Not only were the views spectacular, in daylight & at night, but this place really did make someone like me, who doesn’t like to camp, appreciate the experience even more. The potbelly stove was bliss in these cold evenings & made sure we were never cold. The long drop was the best we had ever used - super clean & smell less! The swing & open verandah were my constant go-to for taking in the views when not cooking & warming up next to the fire, and the bath - just wow! Super warm with the most spectacular views! The whole experience was just so magical & we wont be only visiting once! For anyone wanting to reconnect to nature without too much effort, this is for sure an experience worth booking! Thank you Abby & Markus for sharing your magical place - it made for the most perfect romantic escape from our regular city life & forced us to reconnect to nature in all the best possible way!

The location is absolutely stunning. It's surrounded by gorgeous forest, you can hear nothing but the wind in the trees and the birds. Yet despite the seclusion there is still a coffee cart in walking distance often set up at the nearby lookout. The bus is surprisingly well insulated and is kept warm with the fireplace even when the temperature drops to freezing outside.

Weekend Trip to Bohemian Beach Retreat Tiny House

We really loved staying at Michael and Sheena's place. We were looking for a place to have a cosy weekend away with a fire bath and fire pit. On arrival everything was set up for us, fire in the pit and under the bath. All we had to do was fill up the water and light the fires. It was a lovely romantic getaway. Falmouth is a lovely destination with long sand beach, lagoon and rocky boldery Shaw line to explore rock pools. The accommodation had everything we needed, the bed was comfortable and warm. The place was nestled in between to house but we had plenty of privacy. We could watch the stars, listen to frogs in the evening and drids during the day. As a bonus, Michael and Sheena had a cd player and plenty of cds to listen to which were right up our alley. Lived our time here, Michael was a great communicator and checked in with us.

2 nights at Bohemian Beach Retreat Tiny House

This cozy retreat has the lot for a romantic escape. Multiple fire pits, bathtub, comfy bed, kitchen with the lot and plenty of garden. Beach at 5 min walking. No doubt I'll return.

Where to go

North-East Tasmania

Start your East Coast road trip in the north, where spectacular views and wildlife sightings await at the Bay of Fires—there are even free camping spots to be found. To the north, the striking coastline of Mount William National Park is ablaze with wildflowers through spring and summer, and it’s the ideal time for snorkelling and scuba diving. Further south, St Helens and the Surf Coast is the place to surf, hike, and fish along the coast.

Freycinet

Three of the East Coast’s national parks are found along the southern stretch of coast, starting with the hugely popular Freycinet National Park. Hiking, sea kayaking, and snorkelling are fun ways to explore Wineglass Bay and the surrounding coastline, and the beach camping is second to none. Nearby, there’s forest hiking and camping at Douglas Apsley National Park and car-free camping near the painted cliffs of Maria Island National Park.

Tasman Peninsula

Dangling off Tasmania’s southeast corner, the Tasman Peninsula is dominated by towering sea cliffs. Explore the coastal hikes, hidden sea caves, and windswept beaches of the Tasman National Park, uncover Tasmania’s convict history at the Port Arthur Historic Site, or tackle some of the island’s most epic surf. You’ll find great camping in and around the national park or, for a more local experience, the peninsula is also peppered with Hipcamps.
