Located just a 20 minute drive from the Hobart CBD, this beautiful 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track. Activities you can enjoy here include birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bike riding, dog walking. You'll be staying in a fairly new comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy hot showers, a flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. There's mains water. With prior notice, you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the clothes line strung between trees. Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension. I hope to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else take the short walk to Kingston Beach and the excellent cafes and restaurants there. Food scraps need to go in a compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Longer pieces of firewood are provided free of charge and kindling can easily be collected from around. (I'd rather you didn't use the shorter pieces of cut firewood as they are for my wood heater). You could enjoy a wood fired bush bath for a small charge, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Early evening is the best time to enjoy a bush bath and star gazing with set up in the afternoon. Wildlife is abundant and includes birds, wallabies, possums, echidnas and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog, but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. I have an older Jack Russell who is afraid of big dogs, sorry. I think this is the perfect place to experience a little bush luxury before beginning or ending your Tassie adventures. I look forward to meeting you!

Visit the stunning Maria Island, I am 20 minutes away to the Triabunna ferry. Visit Freycinet and the Tasman Peninsula. Hobart is 75 minutes away, airport 50 minutes. East Coast Tasmania..nowhere better! Enjoy lots of activities in the area and come back to your serene surroundings. The COTU Yurt is basic and rustic glamping. It's cosy, has minimal facilities but you can boil a kettle and microwave a meal or cook outside on a camping stove (home cooked meals $20 booked in advance) Main bathroom facilities in my house twice daily at a time arranged but there's a caravan type loo in the yurt. There's an armchair, a cosy wood stove, and a single bed. Microwave, tea and coffee. Filtered rainwater. Bedding provided. I'm a respectable distance away but your privacy is as important to you as it is to me. Park on-site and you have a private entrance. There are two silly labradors who may visit you outside so you do need to be a dog person. If not.. sorry the yurt is not for you. Please note this is a female only property.

All beds and appliances have been purchased new with the intention of providing you with a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. There are two staircases off the front deck but reasonably flat access is provided at the rear of the property which will be your first entry point. We have gone to some lengths to include a wide selection of DVDs, games and books to keep you occupied in the house. We strongly recommend a daily walk on the beach and that you explore the many many attractions located on the Tasman Peninsula. Just prior to your stay you will be sent a unique code to access the property. The access code will promptly expire at the conclusion of your stay. The keypad for the access code is located at the entrance door under the carport at the rear of the cottage. The majority of the property is free for you to access. The garage has been excluded but there is a large carport which we suggest you use given that the property is surrounded by natural bush. We are available by phone from 8 am to 8 pm if you have any questions during your stay. We would love it if you could message us when you have arrived safely and also a message on leaving is appreciated so we can clean as early as possible for our next guests. Please please let me know as soon as you can if there are any issues at all so I have a chance to take the appropriate action to ensure your stay is it should be – totally stress-free and relaxing!! As I am not in the area I am unable to personally check the house before your arrival – I am heavily reliant on my housekeeper and I need to know as soon as possible if you and therefore me have been let down in any way by the presentation of Boho Cottage. 4 nights at Bush Refuge by the Beach

We had a fantastic stay at Barara's. The house is at the end of a road leading to the sea. Therefore, there was not too much trafic, but to us it was only a few minutes to get down to the water. There is a bridge you can only cross on foot down at the beach, leading directly to Kingston beach, a lovely little city with nice restaurants and coffees. Barbara was a fantastic host, very attentive to our needs and we only saw each other a few times, but when we did it was as to talking to a friend. Thank you for letting us stay with you, the place itself was surrounded by nature and made us feel right at home. Everything we needed!

Weekend Trip to Sea Cliff Lookout Bus

Breathtaking! I watched a whale breach multiple times through the binoculars from the deck, had a relaxing soak in the outdoor fire bath, wandered the beautiful forest that surrounds the property, and enjoyed all of the wildlife even a white goshawk and pademelons with joeys! The bus is so comfy, cosy, the fire inside made sure of that. My second, visit and many more to come. A truly beautiful escape.

Great glamping experience in a lovely location. Miles and his family have done a fabulous job with converting the bus into a wonderful place to stay with supporting kitchen and bathroom amenities. The fire was prepared and ready to light with wood ready for night two. With ample options to relax outside or inside along with a super comfy bed. it was a seamless off grid trip. Can recommend the fire bath and thanks for the bottle of wine.

The location is absolutely stunning. It's surrounded by gorgeous forest, you can hear nothing but the wind in the trees and the birds. Yet despite the seclusion there is still a coffee cart in walking distance often set up at the nearby lookout. The bus is surprisingly well insulated and is kept warm with the fireplace even when the temperature drops to freezing outside.

We stayed 2 nights in the Bus and loved it. The view is breathtaking, staying in the bus was great and really comfortable. The fire in the bus keeps you toasty warm. Great fire pit area outside too near the deck. Great to stay in a cool, rustic, bush setting but still have hot water and electricity. Miles was a great host, he communicated quickly and suggested things to do, the bus and area were clean, firewood was a plenty and the firewood was already in the fire inside ready to light and quickly get warm. We want to go back, and would 100% recommend!

The private location surrounded by wildlife, bush and the epic view along the sea cliffs of the Tasman Peninsula grab your attention from the second you get out of the car. The bus is gorgeous, comfy and so full of character. From the fire bath, to the comfy couches, the fairy lights on the undercover deck at night to the beautiful landscaping that blends naturally. Love the separate kitchen too. You have everything you need for a memorable experience and so much more! Loved it!

My friend and I stayed at the 3 sheep cabin for one night. It was a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The cabin was very cozy and clean, with a lovely view of the valley and rolling hills complete with plenty of sheep. Mark was an awesome host.

Maria Island is a must-see destination in Tasmania in our opinion, it offers a unique blend of natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and fascinating convict history. We went twice, 1st we hired bikes and rode over 24klms. 2nd we did the cruise. We are in Tassie for the long haul on a one way ticket so had plenty of time to work in with the island and tassie weather. Choose to go on a good sunny day though is the key. If your time permits. Ferry at Triabunna is right on the water foreshore and super easy. I would allow the whole day and pack food to sustain you but not way you down weight wise. It is a long day to carry it all around.
