THIS IS A WORKING FARM WITH MANY FREE ROAMING ANIMALS! Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility. Besides google maps doing us dirty and sending us through forestry roads (go towards Mathinna not memory road) - this stay was great! Charly and her dogs greeted us on entry and she directed us towards a peaceful little patch down by the river. In the morning, we got to eat our brekky with the view of the cows grazing and mountains in the horizon. Highly recommend for a rural farm stay. Thanks Charly!

Why you shouldn’t camp at Happy Healthy Valley… 1. The cows will want to share your breakfast (and campsite) 2. There aren’t designated and freshly mowed camping spots…you may even have to move a cow paddy or two. 3. You’ll have to build your own fire pit, sourcing rocks and sticks from around you. 4. The riverbed is strewn with massive trees washed down with floods. 5. There are so many rocks that your kids will insist n making all the #TasRocks and taking home kilos of “pretty stones”. 6. Google maps will take you on adventures to uncrossable bridges on roads you know cars haven’t been for quite some time. 7. There is no mobile coverage or wifi access. So why should you stay at happy valley?… 1. see the above 7 dot points.

What a nice place to stay. The tour was great. my daughters got to pick lots of fruit for there baskets and cracked some hazelnuts. However the highlight would have to had been feeding the geese apples and pears ever morning. We also ordered a basket of fresh vegetables.

I loved Cherry Top so much I stayed for 3 nights!!! The hosts, John and Leslie are an absolute delight, truly wonderful and welcoming people! The camping was quiet and easily assessable in my van (that isn't good off road), I stayed in both the villa and the camping sites, and enjoyed both equally! Lilydale is a little piece of paradise, and the farm is beautiful! Don't hesitate, just book your stay already!!

It was a quaint, quite canpsite in a cute town of Lilydale. There was an ample supply of firewood provided at a reasonable cost and we opted to have the garden tour, which my daughter and I loved. The hosts were very lovely. We roasted our hazelnuts right on the fire (in the shell) and Lesley showed us how to use the antique cracking dohickey. So many fruit trees that produce and the veggie gardens as well, we love fresh produce! We even got to feed the geese. We would definitely recommend this Farm Stay!

Beautiful setting in the peaceful Lilydale town. John & Leslie are wonderful hosts and have such a stunning property. The property has a beautiful layout with clean toilets and showers available to arrange. Have a wonderful view of the mountains and stunning picturesque stargazing views at night. Hop on into lend a hand picking some hazelnuts or purchase their fresh produce. Heaps of activities & options for kids. Now for the negative comments here please remember this is a farm in a farm town so yes there are cows, geese and other animals around so the occasional noise is bound to happen, but we have stayed for a few weeks at this space and couldn’t complain about a thing.

Nice little spot with friendly cows in the adjacent field, fruit trees, and a walk through a flourishing vegetable patch to the camp toilet at the farmhouse. We were the 5th unit in and others had already blocked the fire pit area. Would love to bring firewood again for a little campfire here though.
