The property is located at the base of Bruny's Isthmus, enjoying cool sea breezes in summer and mild temperatures in winter. The Woodlander Campsite is set in our bottom forest paddock, next to a dam, with a seasonal winter creek. It is private and peaceful, with no other campers, houses, or nearby neighbours. We welcome travellers, with up to two vehicles, who are here to enjoy the peace and quiet (no parties please). The campsite has its own separate access, site toilet, solid picnic table and chairs, firepit and and is approximately 600 meters from where we live. Next to 70 acres of forest the location is great for birdlife, with many of Tassie's endemics around, and other wildlife abundant after dark. We are always happy to help with birding or wildlife tips! Based approx 5 minutes from Alonnah and 10 minutes from Adventure Bay, the "Woodlander" is central to so much of what Bruny Island has to offer.

Weekend Trip to Woodleigh - where beach meets bush

This was our first ever Hipcamp stay and it was the perfect experience. The property is absolutely stunning. The camp site was very flat with lovely green grass and surrounds, a creek, a swing, a large picnic table, fire pit and dog friendly. Kathryn is a gorgeous human - so kind, warm and friendly. She told us everything we needed to know, provided fire wood with fire lighters and matches, as well as delivered a warm jar of homemade jam that made Sunday breakfast extra special. We didn’t want to leave and my boys are already asking when we can go back. Thank you so much for having us Kathryn and Alex and for sharing your little piece of paradise with us.

It's amazing the difference a few thoughtful fixtures can make to the comfort and ease of a camping experience. Loved this site, feels remote but nearby to lots of places and a great base to explore the island. Rachel was a helpful and quick communicator.

Kath and Alex have created a truly wonderful site. We loved our 2 night camp. Super peaceful and private, we fell asleep to the sound of the waves across the road. Enough room for the dog and toddler to have a good play and we loved walking through and picking the last of the berries! Kath and Alex were lovely and really accommodating. They’ve taken great care an ensured there’s really easy access to the beach too. We’re already planning to come back with friends!

A great quiet spot to sit with Nature at its finest. A great 4.5klm return walk to stretch the legs after driving . Lots of animals , wallabies , small kangaroos and Echidnas and Kookaburras .

Thank you for the lovely sit in amongst nature at its most natural . The wallabies , the echidnas we saw 2 and the kookaburras , so quiet and serene ! The walk was good to stretch the legs not too hard 4.5 klm return.

The Woodlander is beautifully set up with a composting dunny and a small hut that we could retreat into on a rainy day. Also has ability to have an outdoor fire. Rachel made us cookies which were welcomed whilst hiking. The native forest u are surrounded in is magical and personally we felt the whole experience a wonderful chance to unplug and enjoy the liberating feeling of being free from technology and the outside world. It is also very accessible to everywhere in Bruny including the famous Bruny Baker just down the road.

We had a wonderful stay with Kath & Alex – one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Beforehand, we received detailed information, which made it easy to find the farm without any trouble. Kath welcomed us with a jar of homemade jam (so delicious and perfect for breakfast the next morning) and showed us our camping spot. The paddock is very spacious and set in a beautifully peaceful natural environment. Our kids absolutely loved the swing and the small adventure trail down to the beach. In the evening, we were able to use the cosy fire pit and picnic area for dinner. The next day there were no new guests arriving, so we were able to stay longer and enjoy a relaxed start to the day. We would have loved to stay longer, but unfortunately we already had another place booked that we couldn’t cancel. We can highly recommend Woodleigh – the perfect place to stay on Bruny Island – and we’re very grateful for the lovely time we spent there.

Weekend Trip to Ravens Nest Tasmania

I stayed at Ravens Nest near Ouse for two nights while travelling around Tasmania and it was the perfect place to rest and recharge. There’s plenty of space to park, the location is quiet and peaceful, and the hosts were genuinely friendly and welcoming. They even took the time to show me their farm animals, which was a nice touch. I’d happily recommend Ravens Nest to anyone looking for a relaxed country stopover.

So much flat space for camping and not far down the road making it an easy drive to the surrounding beaches. Found it very easy with the dogs as you can space out from your neighbours. The wallaby’s like to come and say hello too.

We had a lovely stay at Kanyini Camp. A rural setting and very quiet - and amazing view of the stars! There were only 3 other caravans with plenty of space to spread out. Florence’s instructions were thorough and lots of great suggestions to explore the area. Even for us Taswegians there were new adventures! Thanks Florence for sharing your land with us. We highly recommend.

Great open area, was so nice to have some peace and space in a lovely spot. Perfect base to explore the pristine beaches, wineries and close to Maria Is ferry terminal. Hosts very informative and helpful. Would definately recommend if you want to escape the crowds.

We had a lovely peaceful stay here. The information provided by Florence meant we were able to make the most of our visit. We beach hopped along the coast to some hidden gems. This camp is in a great location - super quiet but close enough to some top east coast Tassie beaches.

We loved it here so much! SO secluded and quiet, a real sanctury amongst the trees and wildlife. The drop toilet was very clean and nicer than most, and the little hut is a great option for having some shelter. Would recommend to anyone wanting a taste of wilderness!
