Cethea was a great place to camp nr Cradle mountain. I booked on the day and was really impressed by the kitchen facilities, power outlets and hot showers. It was winter and cold and I was really touched at being offered a hot water bottle and felt very looked after. 100% recommend.

Scott was friendly, easy to communicate with and helpful. We loved the big lake and the swing chair to sit on to relax and look out for platypus’s. It was quiet and peaceful and we would have taken the boat out in the lake if the weather had of been better. The BBQs around were very handy and the portaloos were clean. Beautiful spot down by the river, amongst the trees. Peaceful and relaxing. The added bonus of a hot shower is a real kicker in winter. Only 15 minutes to Penguin means you can duck out for anything forgotten or a bite to eat. We will be back.

The is awesome its for camping. The best part you can see the stars as well as milky ways but if you love dogs this the place for you if you don’t its not( might be seasonal) we visited in winter.

1 night at Cradle Mountain Fishery and Camping

I arrived after dark and was greeted by the host, who was lovely and so helpful with all directions on where to camp and a little about the site. Camping in off-season meant there was a few spots available and I was able to get a beautiful spot adjacent to the lake, which was absolutely stunning to wake up to. The facilities were clean and easy to get to, and the location was about 15mins from the Cradle Mountain tourist hub. There wasn’t any reception bars with Optus however I did forget to ask if there was any wifi, but it was also great to disconnect for the evening and just sit under the amazing view of the stars. Definitely would camp again!!

Lovely spot to camp beside the dam filled with fish. Spotted a couple of eagles, fairy wrens and plenty of water hens. There’s even a platypus in the dam.

Camp and fish just a stonesthrow from one of Tasmania's most stunning natural landscapes, Cradle Mountain. Here you'll find nature at its best, just 10 minutes drive from the Cradle Mountain Visitors centre, the perfect base for discovering this magical area. Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites. There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife. A keen fisher fish in our dams for trophy size rainbow brown and brook trout catch and release fees and rules apply

The camping site is located in a beautiful location overlooking the lavender fields, in bloom december/january, with the ever-changing Mt Roland in the background. Approx. 300m from the campsite. We are pet friendly. We've got room for up to 5 separate bookings. Due to shortage of personnel, we can no longer offer the farm tours. Hope this will change coming season 2024/25. But hipcampers are welcome to have a walk on the farm. We are working together with other organic certified farmers. They lease parts of our land to grow vegetables. Hipcampers are welcome to have a walk around their crops as well. Big news: we have started to build a tearoom with possibilities to organise herbal workshops and give education about growing and using medicinal herbs. . It will also have a shop and space to enjoy light refreshments, organic coffee, chocolate, juice and herbal tea. Extra bathroomfacilities will be available to our hipcampers only. Check in after 9am you get a whole day BEFORE you camp for the night and check out by 3pm this way you get another day here and plenty of daylight to get to your next place This place has river flats surrounded by wilderness and is the first private property on the river, so therefor the LAST property at the end of the road before the road goes into Forestry tracks. Many would consider this place to be very remote.....to us it is close to the City only 50 minutes away over the Mountain gravel roads. If you want to travel on mostly sealed roads go through Fingal and PAST Mathinna. Check maps before you leave as NO reception out here. It is 40 acres and we have MANY MANY free roaming animals, milking goats, ducks, chickens, cows, 3 BIG dogs. (The dogs will get out of the way of cars so just drive ahead and the dogs will move out of your way they have big barks but they are friendly) PLEASE NOTE: If you have any issues with dogs let us know in ADVANCE and we can lock them in their yard for your stay. EVERYONE is told upon arrival to honk/toot your horn if you have any issues or need help and one of us will come and help if you let us know! Otherwise we leave people in peace to camp as they wish and where they want. The property has a big guest house that is currently empty, this is where the flushing toilet is for you to use whilst camping if you like. This Rustic country house is also available for hire/rent, there is hot water via a woodfire (takes up to 5 hours to heat up water $50 per wheelbarrow load of wood) with Big triangle bath and a shower for use if you book the house, (3 single beds and a few new double bed air mattresses are available for your less rugged campers who want to come but need that extra comfort or to be close to a toilet at $40 per person per night.) You are welcome to come camping anytime with a range of needs catered to. Sorry no wheelchair ramps, a single step into the house and one step into the toilet too. Pick whatever spot you like to camp upon, by the river, the rocky island in the river, in the bush, just on the paddock grass anywhere. The big house is for you to use the toilet, kitchen sink and feel free to have a cold shower if you want. You can wander on the property connect with us and if you like you can help feed the animals. We are very happy to host people who love nature and enjoy organic farm life. There is NO wifi or mobile phone reception ZERO, so you can finally enjoy total tranquility. (there is a landline telephone in the big house so you can make a call if you need to, it is a private number)
