We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy. Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). Bring your own bedding. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided). The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery. Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing. Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda. Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. You can order a wheelbarrow load for $30, or bring your own. Dogs are permitted, but please understand, we are a sheep stud and need to ensure no disturbance from dogs. We run a sheep and cropping farm which creates beautiful camping grounds at the foot of the hills, just below the Heysen Trail. The campsites are located on the pasture paddocks of the farm with sheep roaming the area, so dogs on leashes at all times, and please pick up after them. With large distances between other campers, each site can cater for large groups, with no close neighbours. The sites are at least 2km away from busy roads, so absolute peace and privacy! There's a beautiful push bike ride from Riverton to Clare Valley and all the wineries are along the way. Plenty of room at the property for kids to ride their push bikes. Fantastic sunsets and sunrises from all sites, and at its best at the SUNSET BAA. Beautiful bird noises, including the kookaburras having a laugh. There's a very very basic "long drop toilet" pit toilet located near the Gumtree paddock and 5 others shared, down close to the camping paddocks, if not wanting to use shared toilets, please bring and supply your own portable toilet. Great Hotels/pubs to dine in at Tarlee and Riverton. Emporium cafe for the best coffee in Riverton Important Information to know before ALL GUESTS/VISITORS MUST BE BOOKED IN BEFORE ENTERING OUR PROPERTY!!! All campers must check in BEFORE 8pm. If you are unable to arrive before 8pm, please make a booking for the following day instead. Oliver and Chloe were great hosts. The area was cut and ready for us to settle in and relax. The farm location was close enough to go in and spend a great day looking around Burra. And then being far enough away from the traffic and bustle to return to our site and relax and enjoy the sunset. Lovely spot. Would definitely stay again.

This was our first off grid stay in our brand new caravan - and we absolutely loved it. Beautiful property, and so relaxing. Trish was lovely, and very friendly, yet non-intrusive. (Nothing against Peter- but we did not meet him - sure he is equally lovely.) If we lived in the same state, we would definitely make this a regular stay. Thanks for letting us share your piece of paradise.

1 night at Edgehill Farm Stays Riverton

It's a large farm, off the beaten path, with a variety of different camping areas. Trish put us in an open field by a fire pit because there were high winds forecast overnight. You can hike up to a ridge with sunset views down to a broad valley. We were the only campers there that night and it was overcast and pitch black. There are sheep on the property and we had a herd visit our camp in the morning. It was easy to book online with quick confirmation and we drove there after having dinner in Clare. It was great for us and would recommend to anyone wanting something different away from the crowds.

We returned once again to an excellent camp-site surrounded by friendly sheep with lovely views of the hills, gum trees and open paddocks. We watched a pair of wedge-tailed eagles soaring along the nearby hills for hours. We were met by Trish upon arrival who was friendly and cheerful, as always.

We loved camping at Clare Valley View. We camped up the top of the hill near the cattle yard. Most amazing sunsets! Close enough to Saddleworth and other towns, as well as Clare Valley wineries. Highly recommend this place

What an absolute treat to experience Edgehill Farm. Trish goes over and above for guests - from a warm, personalised greeting at the gate on arrival, to chaperoning to your site alongside friendly banter, to giving you all the space and privacy you need to enjoy your stay, right through to firewood deliveries to your site and checking everything was ok before you leave. The location is just beautiful. Lovely to see the glow of other campsites dotted around the property at night - but never hearing or seeing another camper. Loved it so much, booked in 2 more stays whilst we were sitting around the campfire. Hoping to get to Sunset Baa next time! I can see why Edgehill has such a loyal cult following (a real credit to the hosts)… we now count ourselves members of the cult! Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us!

Loved our one night stay on our way to Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre from Flinders Victoria. After a couple of nights camping in the ute, it was lovely having a loo to use and under cover cooking facilities of a bbq. We still camped in our ute but enjoyed the gorgeous old stone building to store our clothes and get changed in. The outdoor shower was just a bag warmed up in the sun. The outdoor fire was great to sit around too. We enjoyed chatting to Philip about his poll merino stud.

2 nights at Cartapo Creek - Farm Stay

We enjoyed staying at Cartapo Creek Farm Stay with Chloe and Oliver. They're a lovely young couple, very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. We had the entire camp ground to ourselves, peaceful, stunning rural setting. We purchased some meat from them and had a camp fire, it was what we needed to escape the hustle and bustle. A nice drive into Burra, stunning farm land, rolling hills and green pastures.
