The 10 designated sites, marked by tyres around plane trees, provide a comfortable and accessible base to rest after a day of adventure.
Located a short walk from our amenities and shelter, Trackside offers easy access to everything you need while remaining immersed in nature. While there are no powered sites, we do allow generators.

Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash.
If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them.
One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities.
Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property.
The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road.
Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away.
Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km.
Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise.
Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property.
The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Great spot, really secluded but town isn’t too far away in a pinch, can bring a big group and it’s really inexpensive, welcome book was helpful for trails and the history of the place, thoroughly recommend

4 nights at Stanthorpe Holiday Park
Campground has heaps of potential for future campers, very professional staff who are passionate about providing a good camping experience for all who arrive from those in tents/swags through to those with caravans. Highly recommend a stay, wander down for a dip in the river or for those who fancy throwing a line in, sit back by the campfire near the river and gaze up at the stars for a relaxing evening.

camping at emu Creek retreat was also relaxing but also filled with exciting four-wheel driving and great host. Great swimming areas awesome campgrounds.

Weekend Trip to The Cabin, Ghost Gum Gully
If you want tranquillity in a beautiful natural setting surrounded by wildlife, then this is the place for you. The cabin is a combination of rustic charm and modern comforts. Awesome firepit area which is great for the cooler nights. The host Cara has thought of every little thing you will need. Decor is great - full of lots of little treasures and repurposed items. Plenty of music, books, and games to keep you entertained (there's also tv, wifi, etc if that's your thing). Hubby is 6'4" and had no problem with the loft bed.

With pets
Great location and staff were pleasant. We usually camp but for this weekend we decided to book a cabin. Very overpriced for a cabin with no toilet or shower and we were slugged an extra cleaning fee of $30 which was not disclosed when I paid and booked. We booked a pet friendly cabin.
Would definitely return as a camper as it was a pet friendly park

Weekend Trip to Stanthorpe Holiday Park
It was a beautiful spot that had a lot of thought put into it. We could have easily stayed here a few days! Be sure to check out the other facilities at the holiday park, there’s wine barrel baths and an infrared sauna. We will definitely be back.
