Our 31 ha property has mowed, grassy camping areas surrounded by lush rainforest. The property is large providing quiet surrounds for you and your family to enjoy while relaxing after a day of adventure. Enjoy the breezes, toast marshmallows and listen to the sounds of the tropical rainforest. The campsite is located 13 minutes from the coastal town of Innisfail and scenic Etty Bay with its peaceful beaches. Cairns CBD is also only a 1 hour drive. Friendly wallabies and tropical birds also like to share this delightful property with our guests and the occasional cassowary may also pay a visit. Nature lovers will certainly appreciate this picturesque location. If you love adventure, Garradunga sits on the doorstep of many beautiful outdoor adventures. Hike in the surrounding national parks; cycle or mountain bike on one of the many rainforest trails; fish or spot crocodiles in the Johnstone River – take a crocodile cruises; white water raft along the exhilarating Tully River; take a dip at the Babina Boulders or Josephine Falls; or snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. Set up camp and use the property as your base to explore the Cassowary Coast, Atherton Tablelands and the Great Barrier Reef. Toilet and shower facilities are available (please supply your own toilet paper). The property has limited tank water only. Guests must also bring their own drinking and washing up water and must take all waste with them upon departure. Fire is allowed only within existing firepits. Boonjie is a great place to base yourself to visit the amazing sights in the surrounding area! Our property has beautiful native visitors, including the occasional cassowary, and regular morning choir of ground dwelling chowachillas. This campsite suits self reliant and self contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and water supply. Lamins Hill lookout, and the entrances to Windin Falls, and the famous trek up Queensland’s Highest Mountain, are only minutes away. So too, are the Atherton Tablelands‘ crater lakes, Eacham & Barrine, and the small town of Malanda, with its iconic falls, both designated swimming destinations, though, highlights are the clear creeks between there and Boonjie (means mate). This is near “Top Camp”, where First Nations people would arrive after the gruelling walk up the Russel River, from the coast, where Innisfail now stands (Innisfail can be seen from the top road). Wakana Ridge was a stunning place to stay for the weekend! Endless amazing views with easy access down to Tinaroo dam where the kids had a ball on the kayaks provided. Katrina and Jesse we're fabulous hosts, so welcoming and friendly. An added bonus too was feeding the cheeky goats and the kids collecting the chicken eggs. We absolutely loved it here and will be back.

Great site - especially for children! Our preschool aged children enjoyed feeding the chickens and spotting for wildlife at night (though they were too loud to see much!) I was incredibly impressed that there were no mosquitos!!! Shame we only had one night - but it was worth it and the area surrounding is beautiful - stunning waterfalls, and they’re quiet with no other visitors first thing in the morning!

Oh boy, this place has such special nurturing energy. I loved every moment spent here and was sorry to have to leave! Al is an excellent host and the space is truly so beautiful and soothing. One of my all time favourite places to camp for how well I rested! The creek is beautiful, a perfect walk for a morning cuppa or lunchtime escape from the sun. The grounds themselves are so well maintained and are stunning and spacious. The nature envelopes you here in a way that truly makes you feel held. I really cannot recommend this hipcamp enough hey. Definitely book this place if you are thinking of doing so, u will be SO happy you did!

10 nights at Aloomba Homestead (Tropical Qld)

To be honest nothing stood out at 'Aloomba Homestead' Hipcamp, because it was simply amazingly magical all 'round, our type of Hipcamp. Mother Nature at her best, the birdlife was incredible, a very peaceful and calming location on the Mulgrave River within close proximity to Deeral boat ramp, where we launched our tinny and also topped up with water for our van. As for the hosts Margie & Richard, what a terrific down to earth couple, our kinda people, very genuine and open to a good old chin-wag. We hope they travel down our way to Cape Bridgewater in Victoria one day, so we can return their kindness. Top spot for our 10 day stay. 👌

Camp fire under the stars with so many beautiful flowers scattered around the gardens. The temperature at this time of year was incredible too, just enough for long sleeve pajamas and sitting by the fire.
