WD Heritage Acres is a place steeped in history and charm, dating back to 1880 when the homestead was first established. Over the years, the property has undergone thoughtful restoration to preserve its timeless beauty. The homestead, originally built in 1880 and expanded in 1904, stands as a testament to a bygone era. Surrounding it, you'll find a traditional garden that reflects the heritage of the property. Our small farm is home to a lovely herd of Angus cattle and a flock of cheerful chooks, as well as numerous other friendly pets. The historic ambiance extends beyond the homestead to our property's unique buildings. These include an 1880 log cabin blacksmith shop, an 1880 log cabin fowl house, a 1904 workers' cottage, and a 1904 shearing shed. As you immerse yourself in the past, we invite you to bring the present with you. Guests should be self-contained with their own toilet and shower facilities. Please be mindful to take all waste with you when you leave. Furry friends are welcome, but we kindly request they remain on a leash. There is fishing nearby. Hotels are from only 3km up the road if you wish to have a lovely meal out. We have free range peacock, geese, hens and guinea fowl on the property. And possibly sheep, alpacas and a horse. Pets are not allowed, unless on lead and by prior arrangement. (As above) Toilets and Potable water are available. This is a farm, not a professional caravan/rv/camping ground. Sites can be variable depending on weather but we will try our best to make you stay pleasant.

The Moodemere Lake House is uniquely Australian and fully self contained. Situated in the midst of picturesque Lake Moodemere Estate, the Moodemere Lake House offers the ultimate in wine destinations. The broad deck and living area provide absolute views of Lake Moodemere and State Reserve, while the bedroom faces the extensive vineyard. There is only one guest house so privacy is guaranteed. (Sorry, due to the very close proximity to the Moodemere Reserve pets are not permitted.) Breakfast provisions with estate grown and made preserves may be delivered to your Lake House. When in season, a large bowl of fresh oranges from our century old orchard is provided. The Lake House is situated 7km’s from Rutherglen, and nestled in the midst of number of wineries and attractions. At least six wineries may be easily accessed by foot, bicycle, or horse, along the walking, trail and bike path that runs along our vineyard and the myriad of pretty country lanes. Golfers are spoilt for choice with three championship golf courses within a 30 minute radius. Despite all the region has to offer, guests may not want to leave the Moodemere Lake House. The day can be whiled away right on your doorstep. From the deck you may spend the morning watching for platypus. There are over 100 species of birds, including eagles, swans and pelicans. Native wildlife such as echidnas and kangaroos are regular visitors. A short walk along the bank of Lake Moodemere and the vineyard leads to the cellar door where guests may enjoy a relaxed lunch and private wine tasting. At dusk light up the fire pit and experience the spectacular sunset over Lake Moodemere. A walk around Lake Moodemere, and along the Murray River will take around two hours and provide many memorable, unique, and beautiful sights. The track is also suitable for cyclists and horses. Weekend Trip to Hidden Beauty on Broken Creek
Carole and Peter are lovely hosts. We stayed at Camp 1 which is a little nook down on the creek. We couldn't see the other camp from our spot but the main homestead is close by. The facilities are a short walk away (closer to Camp 2) and were clean with a camp kitchen, shower, drinking water and toilet. We spent 3 nights by the fire watching the stars, and days by the creek under the trees watching the Birdlife (so many birds in that corner! Take your binoculars!) Sadly, we didn't see the resident platypus but we did see the Rekali which was a first and very exciting. Expect to meet the resident animals! We had visits from goats, sheep, dogs, peacocks and chooks! A lovely weekend. Thank you!

This property is so special! John was so kind and welcoming, I had been a bit worried it was going to be too busy for a long weekend but it’s so spacious and we were able to find a great spot! The perfect one for our group of 3 - 2 campers and a van. The kids had a ball and everything felt really safe. My only note would be that the Ulupna Beach reserve track runs alongside the property and some cars go quite fast, so just be mindful of dogs and little ones ☺️ We will be back! Amenities were great and manageable even for a busy weekend.

We stayed at Camp 2, it's a little flatter and more open than Camp 1. Both sites would be fine for tents, or in our case, a rooftop tent. Vans and larger setups might be better suited to Camp 2. However, both camps are great looking. There is a decent amount of distance between the two camps as well. Their home is nearby, but we always had total privacy and wouldn’t have even noticed anyone. Carole met us when we arrived to show us the site, explain the facilities, and give us a homemade focaccia, which was amazing. We only needed the shower and toilet facilities, and they were all very clean and tidy. There was a kitchen area as well, but we didn’t use it. The campsite was level with great grass coverage and still a decent amount of shade around, with trees to sit under. Fireplaces were available, along with some wood, but of course, this depends on the fire ban status on the day. There are some goats, dogs, and a friendly sheep that roam around, all very friendly. There’s also lots of birdlife, with many types around the river. On a clear night, the stars are amazing. We’d be happy to stay again if we were in the area.

My partner and I had an incredible stay at The Paddock at Ulupna! The land is absolutely stunning! Easy to find a peacefully area, well-maintained, and perfect for getting back to nature. While we were ready to rough it out, the toilets and showers were a welcome luxury. The host John, and his dog were amazing—so friendly and passionate about the place—and the staff were just as welcoming. You can tell a lot of love and care has gone into making this campground special. Whether you're after a relaxing escape with the family, or an off-grid adventure, this spot has it all.
