Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property.
The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm.
The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape.
There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance.
A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc.
Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter.
Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated.
All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground.
All river access points are shared, be mindful of others.
As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family,
all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way.

Come and enjoy an exclusive bush campsite on the outskirts of the historic village of Wolumla, between Bega and Merimbula on the Far South Coast NSW.
The small township of Wolumla is within walking distance and consists of a great pub and a general store. A short drive further you'll find Candelo, which has its own pub and general store as well as a showground and the country markets held the first Sunday of each month.
Merimbula is 10 mins away with great cafes and shops and beautiful beaches.
Campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace.
Campers are welcome to have a contained campfire, either BYO firewood or collect from the ground.
There is plenty to see and do in the area including exploring the nearby National Parks including Bournda and Beowa. the camp was great, nice and private but stilll had a view of the house. it felt very safe. lots of wildlife around which made the camping atmosphere feel like in proper nature. only bad thing is the toilet smelled pretty bad by day 2.

Beautiful, peaceful and natural place with plenty of space between campsites. Lots of wildlife and friendly horses. Creek was great after some good rain. Hosts are friendly and helpful and even offer puppysitting too. Very close to beaches and shops and Merimbula town.

Amazing spot to disconnect and enjoy nature with wildlife. It has nice amenities and enough space for campers to be spread around the property. It is still in a fantastic location to Merimbula and neighbouring towns to explore. Would recommend if you love camping and a campfire.

Really great spot, 15 mins away from popular swimming areas and the beach. David was lovely and ensured we had everything we needed to be comfortable. As we had dogs, we loved the fact that it was a private site, they could sniff and roam. There is flat spots for tents, and trees to tie a hammock.

We had a lovely time staying at Ben's place. He was very welcoming and met us on arrival to show us to our campsite and explain about the property. The creek was perfect to cool down with the kids on the hot day we had. The campsite was well maintained with a fire pit provided and plenty of space for the kids to run around. The views of the mountains were impressive and we loved the all the stars at night. Highly recommended.

David was a super friendly and helpful host who really cared about our comfort, especially with the wet weather. Julie sent great directions before we arrived, and everything was easy to find. We felt safe and relaxed here during our stay.
The campsite was nicely tucked away from the summer crowds in Merimbula, but it was still an easy drive to the beach when we felt like heading out. Wolumla Pub is only five minutes away and perfect for a meal.
Waking up to calves grazing in the nearby paddock was such a treat. Highly recommend this spot if you want to explore the area but still enjoy plenty of space and peace.
