An old Tobacco growing area, remnants of tobacco barns still in existence, Saliet. (chalèt in Italian 'pronounced with an s not a ch') was the origional name for the majority of the property but expansion gave the smaller property name-Newfarm- the chance to shine. A working cattle and sheep family property on the Dumaresq River the NSW/QLD border with irrigated farming country along the front with the mountains creating an amazing backdrop cradling the open country and facing off with the river along the western edge. We have a small vineyard and an operating winery and cellardoor with restricted hours offering wine tasting and if you are lucky enough to be there for our monthly pizza nights with the locals. depending on our work load we have some sunday drop ins with cafe open for light meals or just cafes and coffee. Just south of the Granite Belt wine country. Glenlyon dam is just up the road. 70km west to Texas and east to Tenterfield Opportunity to relax in the absolute peace and quiet while being just off the highway. We do have a three bedroom house furnished which also has mobility issues covered as well. this site is near winery and not directly on the river as is the camping sites. Please ask if interested until I get it listed as a 'camp' site. There is fishing, and other river activities, to be done as well as sightseeing local dams and towns... and relaxing (you are on holiday after all.) Proviso:- no guns, no pig dogs and no hunting so please don't ask or expect as there is only one answer. NO. thank you

We have a stunning 640 acre cattle farm nestled in the hills of the Northern Tablelands, overlooking the Wellingrove Valley. Redbank has many beautiful places and things to see, including two natural gullies full of native birds and wildlife, native woodlands, four beautiful dams and wild fallow deer. Redbank also has about 140ha set aside under Biodiversity Conservation Trust. This is a "no drive" area but always open to walking. There is a map available to show where everything on the property is located. Redbank features diverse terrain, from secluded forests and woodlands to open undulating paddocks with excellent views and sunsets. A campfire is allowed, however it needs to be kept at a reasonable size, especially during fire restriction periods. Please keep the fire within the allocated fireplace provided. At times we provide guests with firewood when we are able, but they are permitted to use nearby timber collected themselves. We have multiple campsites available, however we realise that you may want to be independent and camp in a unique place! We understand this, however we will direct you to a spot which best suits the campers' and their vehicle type, as some of our tracks are 4x4 only. We limit numbers of groups to the number of campsites available. In this way, we protect the environment and wildlife. We will be here to help you decide on the best campsite on arrival. There is some access to water (not necessarily drinking), but you will need to bring your own shower. There are no rubbish facilities or showers and limited access to toilet facilities. Pets are welcome but must be kept under your control at all times as we have cattle on the property. We have a friendly Maremma guardian dog who can turn up unannounced. He will most probably lick you to death.

Llandillo is a picturesque 700 acre property located 11 kms from Emmaville, and 55kms from Glen Innes in the northern New England region. It has 2kms of Severn river access along its southern boundary, which offers great fishing and wildlife watching opportunities. We run a small sheep farming enterprise on the northern more open half of the property, and the southern part running down to the river is natural bushland. Activities include fishing, bushwalking, mountain biking, fossicking, bird watching or getting to know some of our much adored farm animals. We offer accommodation in our a two-bedroom cabin. Our homely cabin offers a tranquil place to stay and enjoy the sounds of birds singing in the trees. Our cabin includes one double bed, two single beds and two double lounges that turn into sofa beds. We have a friendly old Wallaroo who lives around the cabin. Many other wallaby’s and kangaroos can be seen from the windows. It is a great place to relax reading a good book, catch up on well deserved rest or use as a base for outdoor activities. The cabin also has a large firepit out the back where our guests are welcome to have a campfire or cook a meal over the coals. Firewood will be supplied. There is a picnic area with a large open firepit and toilet just meters from the waters edge. Many unique animals have been seen at the river, including spotted Quolls, Platypus, fireflies, Deer, Goats, Kangaroos, wallabies and many species of birds. Guests are able to walk the entire 2km of river fishing or just enjoying the free flowing water. Nine times out of ten Murray Cod are caught along any part of the river on our fishing adventures. BYO fishing gear. Catch and release is appreciated however if guests would like to keep one to eat, they are welcome. Thankyou for reading, we would love to see you at Llandillo soon.

This was our second visit to Wingfield and the second time I’ve typed this review (where did the first one go and while I’m at it Hipcamp, this keyboard on an iPad is almost unusable). Murray from Hipcamp is a great host and is quick to reply and help. We were looking for an escape from the heat and somewhere quiet. Wingfield delivered both in an exceptional manner, and at times it almost felt like winter. There is an abundance of trees and shade, and Murray allowed us to walk around his property. There are long walks you can do from camp or you are pretty central to day trips to the Granite Belt. Overall Wingfield is highly recommended.

We loved this nice private spot on the river. We loved watching the platypus, swans and even a pelican on the water. It was also nice to have a cow pat free zone, which will be awsome when we bring the little grandchildren with us next time.

We loved our camp site at Serenity Ranch. The view was lovely with beautiful sunsets. Nice level site and great fire pit ready for us. Away from town and traffic noise. So peaceful. We also hiked the nearby National Park which was great. Dani was very easy to communicate with and helpful. Great place to destress.

The site (Mailbox) we stayed on was extremely easy to find and access. It was exposed being adjacent to the road but having said that, the road was not overly busy. Our days and evenings were very quiet. Lovely views over the Dumarsq River and surrounding plains and hills. The site was grassy, which was great for our dogs, both of which were very comfortable and had a great time. We were also high and dry when rain came. Although out of town, the site was well situated if you enjoy driving back roads and visiting numerous country towns, which we do and did. Site 2 was also next to the river and a lovely grassy spot. It’s not exposed. It was easy to access although you do need to drive through the paddock to access it. We would like to stay on this site next visit. We had a relaxing no fuss break. We decided to visit in the cold of winter and got the full winter effect of rain and mist. Despite the day time temperatures being lower, it actually doesn’t get as cold as you might think and it is definitely nice with the camp fire and supplied wood. Murray is a good host and lets you enjoy the tranquility without distractions. We would have loved to explore the nearby walks through the forestry but the rain disrupted our plans. We would definitely like to revisit and do the walks. It really is a nice affordable site and close enough to Tenterfield to shop or visit other nature spots. It is quiet and you feel like you are in the heart of the granite belt.

This is my second time camping here and it did not disappoint. The weather was fantastic, I had the portable wood stove going in the hot tent all night so I stayed lovely and warm. It is such a picturesque area to camp and will definitely go back. Murray the host is fantastic and even brought me down a load of firewood.

1 night at Redbank

We made a last-minute booking for one night at Redbank and arrived right on dusk to a stunning red sky, such a beautiful welcome! Tom and Lucy were incredibly warm and welcoming. The campsite was perched on top of a hill with breathtaking 360-degree views. We were lucky with perfect autumn weather, we got to enjoy clear skies and no wind at all. Tom came to greet us at the site and had a friendly chat, then gave us a map to explore the property the next morning. We loved wandering through and meeting the cows! The campsite itself was a lovely grassy spot under the trees with plenty of firewood for a cosy night by the fire and a brisk morning. We highly recommend Redbank, such a peaceful and scenic place, and wonderful hosts.

Weekend Trip to Wingfield Farm

Absolutely loved Wingfield. Stunning site with open eucalypt to look over with smatterings of boulders and Xanthorrhoeas, both grand old trees and younger ones around. Awesome bird life with crimson rosellas, bell birds and black cockatoos every day. The way the clouds roll through the trees is really something special. I hope we make it back soon!

Big call but this is the best Hip Camp we’ve been too yet. With 2 stunning riverside camp spots on a property with a vineyard and cellar door, this place was epic. Maree was really helpful making sure we got there ok and got set up. I’m not much of a wine connoisseur but the ones we tried were really nice and they also do coffee, cakes and pizza’s. Zero light pollution so if you like seeing the stars at night, fishing and camping on a river, this spot is perfect! Can’t wait to go back.
