We had a fantastic stay at Elouera Vale Farm – it’s a brilliant escape whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with the whole family. With 30 acres of the 140-acre property set aside just for campers, there’s an abundance of space to find your own quiet corner to unwind or let the kids roam free, whether on foot or by bike. The clean and well-maintained premium porta loos were a pleasant surprise and make this spot ideal for all types of campers – from the bare essentials through to fully equipped caravans. Don’t be put off by the listing on Hipcamp – access for larger vans and big rigs is no issue at all. One of the highlights for us was the animal feeding tour. Our daughter absolutely loved it and Wayne was fantastic. She’s now dreaming of becoming a camel and donkey farmer! We highly recommend Elouera Vale Farm and can’t wait to return – next time, we’ll be bringing friends along to share the experience.

4 nights at 'Elouera Vale' Farm

The White Gums camping area was a perfect piece of rural camping, right in a nicely kept bush setting, but minutes from Cafe’s, shops and other sightseeing must do’s. This was our 1st try at Hipcamping, and I have to say, if we do any more, the next hosts have their work cut out for them to better the reception and the service provided by Wayne. Meeting the camels and touring the family property was a highlight and the memories of this place will be something we will look back on fondly. Thank you Wayne

Weekend Trip to Hidden Brook Southern Highlands NSW

We came down to Hidden Brook the weekend after the great wet in May and it was just too waterlogged (like the rest of NSW). Lisa, the host, who had been fabulous in checking the site for us and in constant communication generously offered to credit our stay, so we are looking forward to going back at a later date.

2 nights at Windawalla

We stayed for 2 nights at Windawalla. Garth, his 2 dogs and pet sheep welcomed us and showed us to our spot. Lovely view over the valley and sheltered as well. Garth brought in some firewood for the firepit on site. Our dog loved having the freedom to run around as well. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.

3 nights at Babbling Brook 4WD Camping

We stayed at the Lookout site during the NSW rain event. Would have loved to have had some decent weather, as the site is well located beside the creek and private. The track in was fine, even after constant rain for days. We did however have 4x4 with low range and aired the tyres down on the car and our 14ft van.

Weekend Trip to Mellows Ridge

We loved our stay at the Higher Terrace site at Mellows Ridge. Although we arrived after dark, Ian greeted us at the entrance with a warm welcome and everything we might’ve forgotten. He offered us a mallet to help pitch our tent and provided a lighter and firestarter to help us with our Firewood Add-On (as we promptly forgot to bring them). You get a bucket of firewood, which is enough for about 2 nights, burning about 6 to 7 hrs each night, and perfect for a chilly May night. It got down to 9 degrees overnight, so if you're coming in mid-May, pack some warm nightwear! The map at the entrance was clear and easy to follow, and we spent a lovely time exploring the trails. A special shoutout to Lana, Ian’s stunningly photogenic and incredibly friendly dog, who took it upon herself to guide us through the Waterfall track, Higher Creek, and the Home Loop path. She’d pop out of nowhere to lead us through the forest like a four-legged tour guide, and she even seemed to know how to pose for the perfect photo! The portaloo was spotless, and the raised decking at the campsite made it easy to keep our bags and gear off the ground and dirt-free. There were three of us (plus one feisty little dog) and two vehicles, and we fit comfortably on the Higher Terrace site. It was peaceful, spacious, and a really memorable experience overall. We had a great time! Thank you for your lovely hospitality, Ian.

Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2024, all the trails on the property have been massively upgraded and are passable with a 2WD car. If you're towing or it's wet we still recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. We've just (mid December) added a spa half way up the driveway. It can be booked through the extras. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. 'Elouera Vale' Farm

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention us). The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. Yerrinbool is 1 hour from Sydney and a great spot to spend a weekend away, 15 mins from Bowral and 10 mins to Mittagong There are animals on the farm including ducks, chickens, goats, sheep and sometimes even baby cows. The property does need a little clean up but the rear of the property is nice and tranquil. We are directly next to the HWY so sometimes there is road noise, but it's a great location for an easy stopover. Easy access for caravans, keeping in mind the weather as like in all areas it becomes soft when wet. Please note, while we do permit more than one car per site booking, we only allow 1 caravan per site. So if you are in a group with more than 1 caravan, you will need to book multiple sites. Any questions, please let us know. We have Fire Pits in key locations around the farm PLEASE DO NOT move them as they signify each spot for camping. They have allocated spots and we do not need them moved. We also have a toilet in a small shed in the rear paddock for people who are using tents. Also when you come to the campsite please insure that when using the toilet to keep it clean as it is a bush toilet. buckets must be filled up from the dam and using the dam water to flush the toilet please keep clean for the next camper. and water is at the front of the property, if you're required to fill your tanks or rinse off. We have two dams with yabbies you are welcome to collect. If you do collect some please be respectful in the amounts you collect and also throw some raw meat and or frozen veggies like peas and corn into the dam to provide food for the others to grow. Scribbly Gum secluded bush camping

This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. There is only Telstra reception available in this area. We offer 7 different sites and the maximum stay is 7 nights.
