This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including bandicoots,kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access. We accommodate the larger groups just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area . We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower. We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any pets Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. Welcome! Lovely to see you here. Our property is located in Arcadia, just 45 minutes from Sydney CBD. The campsite is located on the high side of the property that looks over into the valley & has stunning views of the Berowra National Park. There is a multitude of walking, hiking and mountain bike trails. There are also many nearby horse riding trails. The property backs on to Calabash Creek which is like a rain Forrest once you get down to the valley floor. Berowra waters is near by, whereby many fishing, canoeing, boating activities are available, coupled with some great cafes/restaurants. Campfires are allowed as long as there are no restrictions in place and they are supervised. Pets are welcome and can be off leash, however are the responsibility of their human parents. The property has ample room to accommodate larger groups that might want to hold milestone celebrations such as Birthday parties, whereby all sites will be closed to accommodate such events. Recently Calabash Haven hosted a party of 50 people for 50th Bday celebration. Feel free to inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs. Campers must be self contained with their own camping toilet and take all waste with them on departure.

Absolutely loved our weekend there. There was another group at the same time but the setup meant we couldn’t hear anything whatsoever. Right by the river which was nice. Got a decent shower, thunder and lightening on the first night and the ground still held up absolutely fine. Lisa had some big tables and even a bbq available to use which was a lovely bonus.

Super convenient to get to, Alex was great to deal with and this is the perfect camp for anyone with young children looking to get them started in their camping experience or groups that maybe don’t have experience going remote.. grounds were clean and really well kept, great views and easy in/out access for vehicles and flat ground for setup..

We had a great time camping at Shady Acres. Lisa was great and very helpful. There was plenty of space, and lots of firewood available which we really appreciated. The river was lovely for a swim. We loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. The location was easy to find in the daylight but a little tricky to find at night time. We would definitely recommend!

Group of friends in 5 caravans, Area easily accommodated us all with space to spare. Lovely flat green space right next to the river. Didn't swim this time as it was middle of winter but the group consensus was it would be fabulous in the summer and we plan to return. Toilets and showers on site were a great touch. Host Lisa was flexible and easy to communicate with. Hope to return soon.

We had the most amazing stay at Calabash Haven! The open camping area is surrounded by beautiful views in every direction—it really felt like a peaceful escape from the city, yet it’s so close to Sydney. Alex was extremely helpful and welcoming. It was perfect for our family, including the kids and our dog who absolutely loved the space to run around. Only 8 minutes to the shops and Berowra Waters, where you can enjoy a relaxing coffee and even tried a bit of fishing. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in nature without going too far from home! 9/10

This was our second time coming to shady acres and will be back again. The campsite is nice and grassy with a firepit to use. The toilets and shower are modern and in good condition. The two campsites are a fair distance away so you have your own swimming area and it feels like you have the place to yourselves. The river is crystal clear and nice and shallow for kids to play around. Can recommend.

Beautiful property with direct access to the freshwater river. There are kayaks to borrow, a fire pit, lovely and well maintained bathroom and showers. Our host was sweet to come and say hello to us and her lovely dog also greeted us. There’s very limited reception here. Had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

Last minute Dash with 3 families and somehow i didn't want to travel?? Typing all my pre requisites in, Alex's property was available and ticked all the boxes we needed to just chill out relax and unwind before this year begins. What a lovely place it feels like your far away but in actual fact we were only 17 minutes away what a lovely place can't recommend this place enough they were so lovely and made us feel at home with Berowra waters 10min away shops etc if you really needed to it was there for peace of mind!! Thank you Alex for a wonderful getaway and we will be back again.

Celebrated new years there and it was honestly just such a great time, weather was on and the river was there with high tides during the day to swim around in.
