Our own private residence is a separate apartment upstairs, there are no shared walls or internal stairs and you will have your own private entrance, however as it is a large, old wooden house you may at times hear us moving about upstairs, naturally we try to be as quiet as possible when we have guests visiting. We will leave you entirely to yourselves but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use, heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience.

We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area.
Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront.
We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank.
The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 8 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking.
The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control.
We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided.
Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish.
The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.

This place has a truly fascinating history. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise.
The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people.
In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site.
The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids.
The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos.
Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans.
The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace.
The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house.
This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities.

We are 1.5 hrs from Sydney. On arrival you will feel the atmosphere of this wilderness area.
Colo River Hut is located adjacent to the Colo River. A beautiful, unspoiled location on a pristine river. With it's own private beach and over 400 metres of riverfront.
We are on the opposite side of river from the the Wollemi National Park. The hut sits (alone) within the eastern (10 acre paddock) of our property. There are no walls and so you have permanent views across the paddock to large sandstone cliffs and we are less than 30 metres from the riverbank.
The Hut has a rustic tin roof, a large bench area with power points and task lighting. Tents or swags can be set up within the Colo River Hut. Or, if you wish, you can set up your tent or camper or small caravan adjacent to the Hut. There is plenty of room as there is a maximum of 8 guests (and 3 vehicles) with each booking.
The Hut has a raised hardwood timber floor and enclosed composting toilet and hot/cold shower facilities. It also has ceiling fans for airflow and insect control.
We provide a gorgeous shaded area under a large tree with valley views, with a large bbq table and chairs and fire pit (with grill) for your enjoyment. Firewood is also provided.
Suitable for swimming, canoes, bikes, Bass fishing, and hiking, the Colo River Hut can be as active or relaxing as you wish.
The Colo River Valley remains largely undiscovered, and is on the edge of the Wollemi wilderness. The Colo is fed by the Wolgan and Capertee Rivers. It has a long history and retains much of its' early unspoiled charm.

This place has a truly fascinating history. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise.
The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people.
In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site.
The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids.
The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos.
Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans.
The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace.
The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house.
This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities.

Weekend Trip to Halifax Hill
Lovely shack creatively situated on a rocky outcrop beside the McDonald river.
It has all the charm of a yesteryear hideaway. It’s an experience not a polished hotel, think secret mountain recluse, take your book, your art stuff and a bottle of wine.
we loved the bush views and sounds, the location and the quirk!
Swimming in the river near by, zipping into town for a coffee or beer and enjoying the cute town of St Albans. Loved it so much we can’t wait to come back!

We stayed at the Flash Camp over New Years. I was really impressed with the amenities, Bbq's & toiletries.
The whole site is very family & kid friendly. They put on an inflatable water slide for the kids in the afternoons, there's a park area with slack lines & a flying fox plus a soccer field.
The water was beautiful & peaceful, plenty of shallow areas for the kids & deeper parts for a swim.
I highly recommend Jilla, we'll be back!!

We had such a great time at Vintage Vues. A great place to stay with excellent amenities and beautiful outlook. We slept in our Roof top tent on our 4x4, parked right beside the caravan which we used for hanging out in etc when we weren’t sitting outside enjoying the bush. Location was excellent and only 10min to
Leura and Katoomba and so many other brilliant hikes. Selena was a fantastic host, super nice and very helpful. We look forward to coming back and doing some great local hikes soon. Thanks for having us Selena

We absolutely loved our stay at The Mountain Shack & having the whole place to ourselves in the middle of nature. It’s such a unique property — full of charm, quirks, and thoughtful touches. We spent the evening playing board games and drinking wine by candlelight, which made it feel like we’d stepped back in time (a little spooky, but in the best possible way!).
There’s plenty of space to explore, we ducked into the nearby town to the Settlers Arms pub during the day, where there was live music playing in the courtyard, it was lovely. The hosts were incredibly communicative and helpful throughout our stay.
If you’re after a rustic, one-of-a-kind getaway, this is it.

Our family with young kids and small dogs loved our time there. The tents were nice and spacious, and we liked the provided linen. The toilets were modern and clean, and we enjoyed the large shared firepit in the middle. The highlight was spending the hot days down at the river - it had a lovely atmosphere and was shallow enough for the kids and dogs to wade through. It is a bit tricky to walk up and down the embankment, especially if you're carrying a toddler or baby. The road into the campground is a little rough for a sedan or typical car, but no issue for a SUV. Great option for a first-time family camping trip - we will be back!

We lovedthe peace and and quiet. The views from the hut while washing up were nice. The hut was a great social space. The kids loved the river for kayaking and paddle boarding. The firepit was well stocked, though as there was fire ban we saddly did not try it out. The cows and Jeffrey the Emu were a nice relaxing find. It was so nice that the inside of the tent was spacious and clean, and the bathroom shower was also very clean for use as an outdoor bathroom and shower. The campfire was also set up without danger, which was great for the kids and even better because there were not many bugs.

We stayed here with our three children. While it wasn’t the most ideal setup for a young family, the quirky, back-to-basics charm really shone through for our 5- and 8-year-olds. No phones, no iPads – just fire, play, and conversations.
With St Albans only a few kilometres away, we were able to enjoy a day of adventure there, as well as Wisemans Ferry, where the girls loved paddling on the sandbanks by the park.
The shack itself has loads of charm and would be especially perfect for a couple or a small group of adults wanting to cook, share a bottle of wine, relax, and soak up the nature all around.
We still thoroughly enjoyed our stay with the girls – and they did too, which is the main thing. The host was super communicative and responsive, and we were well looked after. Shack charm – a winner.

We had a wonderful stay at Jilla Flash Camp and highly recommend it. The tents were comfortable and clean, and although we initially thought there might be mould, Bill kindly reassured us they were just gumtree stains. We had originally booked two tents due to capacity, but Phil went out of his way to adjust our booking so the kids could stay together, which we really appreciated. The camp kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed, and the beds were cozy and restful. The highlights of our stay were spending time by the creek and gathering around the firepit—both made the experience truly memorable. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay!
