Around 200 handraised and tame animals and 200 birds. To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. Damien & Tammie were very welcoming and friendly and happy to have a chat about the history of there property. We had an awesome time at Hatton Airstrip. After a down hill drive to get to the river we were so happy with the beautiful setting. Green grass, flat, right next to the beautiful river and plenty of room as the sites are spread out. Perfect for big group bookings or single/couple bookings. We had Lama's and horses roaming around us also. Peaceful and just perfect. Getting back out was a fun challenge and definately 4wd is a must. We towed our 15' off road caravan and had no problems. Will definately recommend and will be back, 2 nights was not enough👌

The deep spot is perfect for a dip or even throw in a kayak. Beautiful spot right by the river. Made friends with the horses, alpacas, spotted a deer on the other side, and two platypus in the morning. Beautiful country and a beautiful camp, plenty of fun and looking forward to another visit soon!

4 nights at Watton Airstrip

We had such a wonderful four days at Watton Airstrip that we decided to stay another four. Tammie and Damo were the most incredible hosts—nothing was ever too much trouble. The road in is definitely 4WD territory, so make sure you air down to around 25 at the check-in point. There are plenty of sites to choose from depending on the experience you’re after. We chose Rivers Edge for the seclusion, and it delivered beautifully. In hindsight, we probably would have enjoyed The Rapids even more as it’s right at the end—but then we might have missed the platypus! Our favourite overall would have to be Hog Heaven, although the solar would have struggled there, and it’s close to Deep Spot, which seems to be popular (so a little less secluded). We were completely solo for four nights with no one around except the horses and llamas. We were lucky enough to see so many animals that others don’t always get the chance to—ducks, llamas, horses, a fox, deer, snake, platypus, emu, kangaroos, wallabies, and even cod in the river. All were a treat to see… although the fox was relentless at night trying to sniff out food! And yes, the flies were next-level—but hey, that’s camping. Phone service is not great, but we had Starlink, so no issues at all (especially handy with a uni assignment due). It was a magical place. I went there to clear my head and definitely found peace in that wide beautiful camping spot. The views were astounding both sunrise and sunset. Tammie was an amazing and warm host ❤️ I’ll definitely be back and recommend to anyone who is looking for some solace out of the city. Drive out was 100% worth it.

This is the most magical camping spot! We decided to come here to trial our new tent and have decided this will be our go to camping place. We spent one night, but as we left we all talked about how it had felt like we had been there for days. The horses were am added bonus to our trip, so gentle and inquisitive. Thanks Damien and Tammie, you've done a great job to ensure families like us have life long memories.

Fiona and John were great and Travellers Rest was such a quiet and peaceful stay. We were met on arrival with such a friendly vib and nothing was too much trouble. Fiona's homemade relish and sauces were delicious and added to the whole experienced. We had a visit from the host's lovely pups... just delightful. 100% recommend, thanks Fiona and John!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wattons Airstrip Camping – Hidden Gem! What an amazing spot! From the moment we arrived, owners Damo and Tammie made us feel so welcome — genuinely lovely people, down to earth, who clearly take pride in their property. The campsite itself is peaceful and full of charm — we loved being able to pat the friendly horses and llamas that wander around. The river is absolutely beautiful, perfect for a quiet stroll, fishing, swimming or just relaxing by the water. And I have to say — the best, most imaginative deep drop toilet we’ve ever used while camping! Clean, well set up, and surprisingly pleasant. This camp ground is also great for kids. If you’re after a relaxing stay with great hosts, stunning views, and a touch of farm life, Wattons Airstrip is a must-visit!

Absolutely amazing little spot, definitely a hidden gem. Campsites where outstanding, perfect distance apart that you didnt feel like you where intrusive on anyone yet had your own private site all to yourself. Friendly animals and outstanding host, Damo & Tammy are full of knowledge and welcome you like part of the family. Will be back and would highly recommend 👌🏼

Great hosts..well maintained grounds. Great river campsites. A lot of different bird species. Horse's grazing nearby. Just spent 2 night's there and planning to return and recommended to friends..you will need a 4 wheel drive to get to the river sites.

It was a great place to camp with beautiful scenery. Really cool driving there with a 4wd, just try to get there before it's dark or it gets a bit tricky to find the location. Make sure you get to spend a bit more time as I was in a bit of rush and didn't get to really fully enjoy it as much as I'd love like to but other than that it was really good. Especially if you get up early in the morning is a lot of nature around and it's a very beautiful place.
