(Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. On certain camp sites our small kitchen with microwave dishwasher and cook top and fridge may be used . Please just clean up any mess you make. For the next guest All cleaning products under sink. WE HAVE 2 DOGS that are people friendly., who love to meet new fury friends , they do have the run of our property . We looked for alternative ways of living 6 years ago so we purchased 220 acres to build an off grid camping/eco resort. The combination of heat, dimmed lights, and the smell of cedar or essential oils creates a healing ambience that is both invigorating and comforting. The house is full of Art, books, games, and DVDs. There is also the 'yoga deck' behind the house with even more expansive views of the river - a perfect place to do some morning meditation or enjoy a bowl of pasta as the sun goes down, highlighting the orange of the sandstone cliffs across the river. Surrounded by National Parks and completely free of cars and traffic, this is a beautiful little retreat, perfect for a family or a group of friends to meet up and re-centre. At Bar Point, there are no shops or cafes, so you must bring everything you need with you. Basic pantry staples such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, etc. are provided. Kayaks, fishing poles and crab pots provided. Our own private residence is a separate apartment upstairs; there are no shared walls or internal stairs, and you will have your own private entrance. As it is a large, old wooden house, you may at times hear us moving about upstairs. We try to be as quiet as possible when we have guests visiting. We will leave you entirely to yourselves, but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality, we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use. Heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know, and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience. Our home is on the electricity grid but we also a modern solar-powered electricity and battery system, on-site water catchment and sophisticated waste management (please help us out by conserving water and power and by taking all your rubbish with you when you return to the mainland)

This was my favourite stay on HipCamp to date. The place was spacious and beautiful. So many beautiful art pieces and quirky touches. Way more spacious than we thought! And very cozy. The surrounding area was beautiful and i have never crossed a ferry or seen a wombat and i got to do both on this trip. Thank you Helen and Steve, what an oasis you have.

Robert is a great bloke who takes looking after his guests seriously! From putting the fire and kettle on before we arrived, to making sure solar batteries were fully charged, or giving a walkie talkie guided tour as we drove in - Robert made sure we were comfortable and settled in. The shack is basic but functional with everything you need to cook up a feed and stay warm after exploring outdoors. It is ‘rustic’ so if spider webs or saw dust are on your no list then maybe book a hotel... The grounds are beautiful, we lost count of the different types of fungi we spotted, and I’ve never seen more wombat holes in my life. The bird song was amazing in the morning, but the best part was the outdoor bath under the stars. A great place that I’m keen to return to some day.

The cabin was perfectly set up for an easy weekend escape. Beautiful setting and Matt was very welcoming and he and Jenna do a great job of keeping the amenities clean and tidy. Beautiful spot and Matt even organised perfect weather for us.

I almost don’t want to write this review because I’d rather keep Robert’s place a secret. It’s tranquil, rustic and incredibly comfortable, with a peaceful atmosphere that helped me slow down and reconnect with nature. Everything felt authentic and unpretentious, making it easy to relax from the moment I arrived. Whether I was sitting around, enjoying the surroundings, or simply taking in the quiet, it felt like a genuine tonic for the soul. If you’re looking for luxury, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re after a beautiful, peaceful escape with character and charm, it’s hard to beat. I left feeling refreshed and already looking forward to returning. The photos show it exactly as it is. And for us oldies, it was perfect. Everything you love about camping, with absolutely none of the negatives. It's peaceful, picturesque, and serenely private, with the added bonus of having a ready made bed and a flushing toilet. It was, in a nutshell, perfect.
