Overview

About

Cedar Dunes Provincial Park offers a serene escape with its expansive ocean-front views along the Northumberland Strait. Visitors can immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the park, stroll along the miles of sandy beach, and explore the historic West Point Lighthouse. With a provincial campground available, adventurers can stay amidst the coastal splendour, enjoying amenities like wifi and recreational programming during their visit from June to September.

Notable campgrounds

  • Provincial Campground: Offers a variety of sites, including unserviced, 2-way, and 3-way options, complete with a dumping station and park amenities.
  • Laundromat Facilities: Convenient for extended stays, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free camping experience.
  • Nature Trail and Playground: Ideal for families looking to engage with the outdoors and keep children entertained.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your spot, as the campground is a popular destination during the summer months.
  • Consider staying mid-week for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies for last-minute opportunities.
  • Explore nearby camping options if the provincial campground is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Cedar Dunes Provincial Park is between June and September when the park is open and fully operational. The warm summer months offer the perfect weather for beach activities and camping. Outside of these months, the park is closed, and the harsher weather can make the coastal experience less enjoyable.

Know before you go

  • Beach safety is paramount; note that there is no lifeguard on duty, so swim at your own risk.
  • Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times within the park.
  • Wifi is available, allowing visitors to stay connected even while enjoying the wilderness.
  • Check beach reports before your visit to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience.
  • Remember that the park's campground and amenities are only available from June to September.
