Our property was originally the only homestead on this road. WE offer 4 Walk in Tent sites and a RV site for small campers up 20 ft. WE also have a 59 Vintage Shasta that rents nitely up to 3 nites The big barn was built over 100 years ago and is still standing. The farm house was built in 1907. It has been remodeled with a second story added. Pine trees were planted to prevent erosion in the 1960's. The national park began buying land near us in the 1970's and the boundary line to the park is a half-mile from Moonshadow Camp. The area is surrounded by state forests and many hiking and biking trails. Our valley is known for incredible stargazing. Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. Electricity and water is included at the RV site, and the Shasta Camper along with the Showerhouse and Camp Kitchen

Camping in the pines
Rob and Jeanne were fantastic. We changed dates a few times and they were very accommodating. They both showed up when we got there and walked us through everything. What a great site. They give you dry wood and kindling, it was raining but they covered the wood for us to do bonfire that night. We were the only campers there. My wife used the outside kitchen and loved it. She really loved taste of the water there too. She said it tasted fantastic. Very private location, very beautiful view. Robb works at a local winery so don’t forget to ask about his recommendations. I have a 19 FDS Geo pro which is 19 feet long. No issues backing in at all. But it might be a little tight if your rig is longer than that. There is a slight tilt to the rv site so make sure to have blocks.

Camp Moonshadow is a GEM!
We LOVED this site and will be back! Robb and Jeanne have such a great setup for families, and the outdoor kitchen makes a trip so much easier. We appreciated the tips for local food and music venues, and Esch Beach (a 6 min drive from the site) was an unexpected gem. Hot showers from the shower house were a huge morale booster on a cold and rainy fall weekend, and we loved everything the site had to offer. Can't wait to camp here again!

At the doorsteps of Sleeping Bear
Staying here you are just a hop skip and jump away from Esch Beach and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Seashore. It is by far the nicest Hipcamp we have stayed st and deserves the 2023 Best MI Hipcamp award granted to it. The camp property is very well cared for. All use areas were freshly mowed.Signage upon arrival made it very clear to identify and navigate to the right spot. The amenities offered verge on concierge service. There is a fully stocked outdoor sheltered kitchen complete with every food preparation item you could possibly need. It has a full kitchen sink to do your dishes in with a drying rack. Did I mention stove, refrigerator, dishes and coffee maker? So convenient! The showers are rugged but are clean with plentiful hot water and water pressure. The majority of the camp is in a beautiful pine forest with a carpet of pine needles creating a super soft surface to walk and pitch a tent on. We stayed at the RV site which has both water and electric. It also featured multiple tables, chairs, fire pit, firewood, and grill. The site is not level so bring some extra blocks. The porta potties were very clean and offered a working sink, soap and paper towels. It may seem odd to mention but the toilet paper was also very nice. The host is very gracious and provided great tips on local spots. Farm fresh eggs and homemade zuchini bread and mini camp store available down the street at local farm. No dog problems. Owner’s dog was on a leash and stayed at house. 5 Star stay.

Always a great time at Camp Moonshadow! I got to bring my sister with me this time and she said she would have camped more with her kids if there was an outdoor kitchen where they went.

First time Hipcamp, good experience
Robb's place was exactly as described. The property is peaceful and very conveniently located to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Glen Arbor. The kitchen is great and is very well supplied. We didn't use the shower, but it was clean and functional. The porta potties were clean and well maintained. Everything here could be described as thoughtfully rustic. :) We stayed on the RV site and appreciated having the water and electricity at our site as well as being able to park at our campsite. Only the RV site and Shasta offer parking at the site. All tent sites are walk in, but Robb provides wheeled carts and wagons to help you get your gear to the site. The only negative experience we had is when Robb's dog spotted us walking our two pups. Our pups were leashed, but his was not. It approached in an aggressive/defensive manner (hackles up, barking, growling, bearing teeth) and we fended it off by standing our ground and yelling for Robb. He arrived shortly and wrangled his dog back to his residence. For what it's worth, his dog had been cabled for the majority of our stay.

Peaceful blissful camping
One of the best camping experiences I’ve had. The grounds are fantastic and so are the owners. We cannot wait to return for more restful nights in their pine forest! A+ ✌🏻❤️
