Providence Canyon is often called “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” but this scenic place wasn’t exactly formed via a powerful river. This fascinating spot shows us all how extensively humans can shape their environment. Short-sighted farming in the 1800s created deep gullies (up to 150 feet deep in some places) that are now excellent places to explore. Stroll along the rim trail and check out the canyons, or take a hike inside the deepest canyons. If one day just isn’t enough, you’ll be pumped to know that you’re completely welcome to camp along the backcountry trail, among other places. While we’re all about responsible land use over here, it’s hard to deny the beauty of the canyon. This is one scenic park, and you’re going to love it.
