One of the best spots in California for stargazing. We visited for one night on Labor Day. Quiet, isolated campground deep in the White Mountains with endless hiking opportunities in all directions. Sites are distanced far away enough to maintain privacy while close enough to meet your neighbors. Bathrooms are minimal but relatively clean and include toilet paper. No water, bring a lot! Also, bring bug spray and sun screen. You won't regret making the winding trek up, and you won't forget the (harrowing?) descent back into the Owens Valley. Bring your telescope and plenty of blankets!

Nice campground. Not too crowded on 6/10/17, only about a third of the sites were occupied. The views from the campground itself aren't all that "grand" (other than the stars). But there are tons of breathtaking views while driving/hiking nearby. The tight twisty road prevents most big RVs/Campers, which is nice for those of us who aren't in a house on wheels.
