Beneath an expansive canopy of fluttering leaves lies Oak Ridge Campground, a haven for furry, flying, and fishy friends alike. Although this forested getaway is only 35 miles away from the heart of Washington, D.C., you’ll think you were a million miles from civilization, making it a popular weekend getaway for politicos and citified folk. Don’t forget your outdoor guidebook—with over 700 plant species sprinkled around the park, it’s easy to enjoy the natural ecosystem all year round.

Prince William Forest very nice campsite problematic not allowed to tie off lines to trees for tarps or clothes lines for keeping dry and airing out sleeping bags especially with all the rain we experienced had to leave early.
