Behind our farmhouse are cool pine woods with a soft pine needle floor. This deeply shaded area is used for camping by our students, apprentices, family and friends. We invite you to set up camp among us.

There are many sites for tents but we only accept one to two HipCamp guests per night and only one tent at this location. Look for our additional listing ("Secluded Site on Permaculture Farm") for our other campsite that can accomodate up to eight campers and three tents.

Cayuta Sun Farm produces gourmet quality pork and poultry through heritage breed hogs and birds integrated into a forest farm system. We invite you to camp in our woods and be a guest on our farm. We love hosting visitors and showing how we raise healthy, delicious food.

Near the farmhouse are a friendly dog and cat, roaming chickens, fresh water, a composting toilet, and the rustic outdoor shower with a few minutes of hot water.

Within twenty miles of Cayuta Sun Farm are wineries, hiking trails, the cities of Ithaca and Watkins Glen, plus all the attractions found in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. We are 12 miles from the Grassroots Festival of Music, 14 miles from Watkins Glen Speedway, and 17 (paved) miles from Ithaca. Within just a few miles is the Finger Lakes Trail, Connecticut Hill Wildlife Area and Cayuta Lake. Walk down our dead end dirt road and you will find a footbridge overlooking the glorious Cayuta Inlet Swamp.

Learn more about the farm at our website: CayutaSun.Farm.

NOTE: During the weekend of August 23-25, 2019, Cayuta Sun Farm will be hosting former students and guests, giving tours, offering a BBQ and more as part of Permaculture Weekend organized by the Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute. Our farm is proud to be a sponsor. Expect many people and much fun. [FingerLakesPermaculture.org]

Michael and Kelly were so nice - Michael kept up on communication and his wife Kelly was there to greet us when we arrived. We got a small tour of the farm and set up our tent before dinner. The garden is beautiful and the forest is fun to wander around. Would definitely visit in the future.

If you're truly interested in permaculture, Michael has a world of experience and knowledge and if you can grab him for 10 minutes - ask all your questions :)

My daughter and us enjoy the stay at this farm. Me. Burns explained us about Permaculture. His pigs are beautiful and his dog too. The dog is very playful. Mr. Burns made us feel at home. We would love to camp there again! I recommend it!

This venue has a lot to offer. We enjoyed meeting the pigs and chickens, and the campsite in the back was private and calm. We also loved the swamp trail at the end of the street.

Super welcoming hosts with an awesome dog. Plenty of space to wonder on the property and set up camp. Rustic shower and feel. Make sure you go visit the piggies in the woods! 🐷 quick 15 ride into Watkins Glen for food and drinks. Had a great time.

This was a GREAT location for our purposes - hiking in Ithaca and Watkins Glen. The trip into Ithaca was relatively quick and easy. Michael is kind and welcoming and his farm is lovely. The secluded site was quite a long walk through a wooded path the overgrowth is threatening to take back - would be hard to get to in the dark without a headlamp or flashlight. Best for tent camping. We were able to find trees for hammocks (as our tent poles mysteriously remained at home) but it wasn't ideal.

Lovely foggy morning over the dewy grasses and wildflowers at Cayuta Sun Farm.My accommodation for the night - two trees with a hammock hanging over the path to/from the campsite. My partner's trees were MUCH farther apart :PMichael and Kelly were clearing out some brush when we arrived and started a fire pit for all to enjoy.

We had a wonderful time at Michael’s farm. It’s truly a special place and Michael & Kelley could not have been more welcoming! We had a chance to see the pigs and interact with them, and left with a few pork samples. Definitely recommend!

We loved staying here! The land is lovely and allows ample space for exploring trails and woods, as well as super cool permaculture projects. Has very handy amenities of outdoor kitchen space, outdoor shower, and composting toilet. Michael and Kelly (and their sweet dog Sheila) are incredible hosts whom we felt lucky to talk to and feel radiant good energy from. Hope to stay again.
