In fact, you don't have to drive anywhere to experience our biggest attraction: **our prairie shares a boundary with Scotts Bluff National Monument**, and guests enjoy private foot access from our property into the south side of the Monument for hiking and exploring. The Monument's visitor center and historic Summit Road are only about 3 miles away by road. **Legacy of the Plains Museum is about 3 miles away, Wildcat Hills Nature Center about 11 miles, and iconic Chimney Rock just over 20 miles away.** Spend the day exploring, then come home to the prairie for sunset, wildlife, wide-open skies, and spectacular stargazing. ### Camping on the Prairie Our rustic prairie sites—welcoming tents, cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles—are located directly on the prairie. RVs and pull-behind trailers are not permitted on the prairie sites. The prairie is a fragile environment, and protecting it is important to us. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book one of our designated RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us care for this special landscape. Our **RV sites offer 50-amp electricity** and a rustic camping experience on crushed concrete near our corral, with foot access to the prairie just steps away. All sites share access to delicious potable water from our underground well, a clean porta potty, and our funky outdoor camp shower with unheated water. Guests also enjoy private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge on the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. A small group of yearling cattle calls the prairie home during portions of the summer and may share the prairie camping area with guests, particularly during May and June. Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves—to experience the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our star-filled night skies, and a soulful communion with the land. ### A Landscape With a Story Lisa is the **fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm**, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has stewarded these lands since 1925, but her family's roots in the valley reach even further back. Lisa descends from one of the area's pioneer families. Her ancestor, **Martin Gering, arrived in the valley in 1887** and became an early investor in the fledgling town that would eventually bear his name: Gering, Nebraska. Whether you pitch a tent in the grass, sleep in the back of your vehicle, or arrive with your camping setup already attached, you can settle in and enjoy your own little piece of the prairie. This is our most rustic, true-boondocking site. It’s ideal for campers who don’t need amenities directly at their campsite and are happy to trade a few conveniences for an extraordinary location, plenty of space, and the feeling of being tucked out on the prairie. Our shared amenities are available within an easy 7–10 minute walk. IMPORTANT: No RVs or travel trailers on the prairie. Our prairie is a sensitive native grassland, and protecting its vegetation is an important part of caring for this property. For that reason, RVs and travel trailers are not permitted on prairie sites and must book one of our designated RV sites. Our shared amenities area includes a repurposed water tank turned funky outdoor shower, a super-clean porta potty, delicious water from our underground well, and a trash receptacle. Nestled in a gorgeous open area within our canyon, this exclusive site offers amenities perfect for a larger group of friends, a family gathering, a private, cozy hangout for two, or a solo retreat. The 3-tiered natural log amphitheater seating area built into the side of the canyon and large ceremonial fire pit surrounded by sand, is perfect for an evening under the stars. The separate kitchen fire pit invites more intimate conversation near the convenient picnic table. Firewood is included. (To protect our prairie ecosystem, please do not bring outside firewood). A super clean porta potty, delicious underground drinking water, and a funky outdoor shower is available nearby for all campers. Set beside an old line of trees, it enjoys some welcome shade during portions of the day, attracts an ever-changing assortment of songbirds and birds of prey, and puts you closest to some of our favorite hiking areas. This is the only prairie site with a picnic table and fire pit, and it offers the shortest walk to our shared amenities. You’ll camp in a beautiful grassy expanse with the dramatic bluffs rising above you and a valley of patchwork farm fields spreading out below. It feels wonderfully removed from everything—without actually being far from the things you may need. This site welcomes traditional tent campers as well as those who camp in or on their vehicles—including cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles. Whether you pitch a tent in the grass, sleep in the back of your vehicle, or arrive with your camping setup already attached, you can settle in and enjoy your own little piece of the prairie. Our RV sites have been described by guests as "boondocking with water and electric," and that's a pretty accurate description. You'll arrive via dirt and gravel county roads and park on crushed concrete beside the old corral on our working family farm. The real attraction isn't the parking area—it's what lies just beyond it. Step from your campsite onto more than 200 acres of native prairie bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Hike, birdwatch, mountain bike, photograph wildlife, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet. Deer, bighorn sheep, wild turkey, hawks, coyotes, rabbits, and many other native species call this prairie home. Amenities: 50-amp electric • Potable water (fill-up hose only) • Clean porta potty • Outdoor camp shower (unheated) • Trash receptacle. No sewer hookups or RV dump station. Shade: Shade is very limited. Most sites receive full sun for much of the day, so bring your own awning or shade canopy for comfort. Please Read Before Booking These RV sites are located on the historic farmstead, not on the native prairie, and are intentionally rustic. The farmstead was used as a dumping area for decades before I purchased the property. Camping fees help fund its ongoing cleanup and restoration, but heavy rains, wind, and natural soil movement continue to expose buried remnants. Please expect to see partially buried plastic, metal, glass, wire, baling twine, and other debris around the RV area. This restoration is ongoing. The prairie itself is an entirely different experience. Nearly all of our 200 acres remain clean, intact, and remarkably free of debris. If you're looking for a polished RV park, this probably isn't the right fit. If you're looking for quiet, starry skies, beautiful prairie, and an authentic western Nebraska experience, you'll likely love it. Photos were taken in different seasons. We had to make a very last minute change to our camping arrangements, and came across Lisa's site. It was PERFECT! She was very accommodating given our last minute reservation and her instructions/directions were clear and concise. We will definitely stay here again on our next adventure out West!

Located in a beautiful bluffs area, the scenery was fantastic. We had a wonderful and educational hike on Scott's Bluff national monument, right around the bend. A well maintained, switch backed trail to the top provided an awesome view. The yipping coyotes at night made you feel that much closer to nature. Lisa was great and it was neat to learn more about the land from her.

Decided to stay here bc it came up on Hipcamp bc it’s close to Scott’s Bluff Monument. The owner of the private property could not have been nicer. She sent me perfect directions (via pin) and directed me towards one of her sites that has a fire pit and picnic table. Additionally, she has the best well drinking water and a hose to refill tanks. The outdoor shower is an old but repurposed water tank and the toilet facility (port a potty) is very well maintained. Waking up on the plains here so close to the Oregon trail was a treat.

Title touchs two highlights. Our favorite was the shower - we laughed so hard when water 1st cover's you with a coolness that not cold nor freezing - brisk. But you feel squeaky clean when done. We also got a kick watching the rabbits chasing each other. Plenty of water for you and the flower plants - give them a light drink so they are as pretty for next camper

Peaceful Prairie Campsites was an experience. The title says it all and our time there was fun. Only two other campers including us were in the (tent/camper van only) area. We had been traveling with our little trailer so we spent the night in the rv section. We basically had the place to ourselves and it was exactly what we needed. It was peaceful, no annoying campers, beautiful setting, cute little trail to explore around the campground, it’s a short drive to Scottsbluff National Monument, and Lisa was very accommodating and kind. Her description of her property is right on so don’t go in expecting KOA glamping. We are experienced campers and have camped in many different types of ways: tenting, rv-ing, boondocking, etc., so when we read the description of Lisa’s historic working farm campsites, we had a good idea of what to expect. Like others have described, Lisa’s campground is like boondocking but you have added bonuses: portable potty(was clean and did not stink unlike others I’ve been in), potable water spigot, we had electricity at our rv site, and an outdoor shower which topped off our fun time there (yes we used it, it was a hoot 🤣, it was cold, but it was all about adding to our experience and having fun, when else are you going to do that in life?) We would go back to check out the tenting/camper van area only next time since those campsites sit within the prairie.

This is a wonderful campground to get a way from it all. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the lack of noise makes this a wonderful pastoral campground to spend a day. There are no amenities beyond electric and water, so plan for that. But otherwise it is you, the open fields, wonderful scenery and a beautiful night sky. Lisa the host is very friendly and helpful as well. She personally welcomed us and showed us around. She is a fantastic host. We enjoyed this campsite so much and the next time we are passing through Scottsbluff we will stay there!

The site had nothing to do with the YouTube video or the great images on Google Maps. They're both outdated. It is sold "rustic", but "rotten" is more suitable. There aren't any animals, maybe for years. There was also shattered glass on the road to the tent side. Actually, the view and location is extraordinary and magnificent. And also the host is very kind and communicative. The price of 63 $ (incl. tax, fees, etc.) is way too expensive - 35/40 $ max. would be more suitable. Next time, I would stay overnight at Walmart and spend the money on groceries.

Peaceful Prairie is a healing, magical place in a region I adore for its rough landscape. We ended up at a different campsite than originally booked, as Lisa called ahead to let us know we had the option to pick an unbooked site she thought we might enjoy more. She was right! Lisa is warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares a lot about her land. The decor at this site is super cute. The canyon area is spacious, and the furniture very accomodating. It's sheltered, quiet and comfortable here, making it the ideal space for spiritual connection. You have great views of the changing sky and the South Bluff, but running up the hills on either side will afford you a spectacular vista and a phone signal if needed. There is a little bit of shade in the morning and evening but you do need to be prepared for harsh sun and winds. The water spigot, porta potty and shower are a short walk away, and while the shower is freezing even in midday heat, these amenities feel luxurious if you usually camp in the backcountry. The porta potty is regularly maintained and wasn't unpleasant at all to use. This place is a hidden treasure for naturalists as well. Hiking around the campsite, close to the bluff, or just sitting and observing the plant and animal life was delightful even amidst the severe drought plaguing this area. You'll see rabbits, birds, and maybe even a camel spider! We enjoyed cataloguing drought-resistant, sometimes fragrant plants new to our growing mental herbarium.

Peaceful Prairie lived up to its name and Lisa was a wonderful host. My highlight was hiking over to the Bluff and meditating with the strong wind, prairie birds, and beautiful sky. Bonus that I could hike right from my campsite. Very interesting learning that Lisa is helping to restore the native Prairie. She is showing the land lots of love.

This is a fantastic site with incredible views of the bluffs and the surrounding land. Lisa is an excellent host. Communicated proactively and made us feel taken care of. The canyon site had some shelter from the wind, which was good because of the storms that rolled through. We loved watching the storms come in and then leave. Two nights in a row we had incredible, full rainbows. We would absolutely come back.

Absolutely loved staying here. The property was beautiful and the view was absolutely unbelievable. Lisa was very accommodating and communicative. We drove across the whole state on our trip, and staying here and hiking around the property in the morning was definitely one of the top highlights of the trip. I can't imagine experiencing Scottsbluff any other way.

The view here is exactly as advertised and truly cannot be beat. A few things detracted from our stay. 1) not quite enough information about rattlesnakes provided in the description (yes, we did our own reading about the area and were prepared to be vigilant) and 2) the shower wasn't operational. Be prepared for some really incredible wind if you're in a tent. Lisa was communicative and kind so overall this was a good experience, and waking up to that view ... Wow.

My dog and I had a great time! We were the only ones on the land that night so I hung out in the canyon camp site (where there was shade) for a bit before setting up on the prairie. The water from the hose is delicious and the outhouse smells surprisingly good. Lisa is so kind and you can tell how much she loves the land!
