Cory was a great host. When we first got to camp he was very kind and inviting. We had trouble with one of our tent poles and he helped us remedy the problem. Unfortunately we were having issues with our car overheating on the drive in and he pointed us to a mechanic that could help as well as a few local auto parts stores so we could handle the issue ourselves if we choose to. Because of his help my husband had our car fixed by the next morning and we were able to explore the UP with no further issues.
The site itself was wonderful. It was nicely cleared, with beautiful greenery and trees surrounding it. The clearing was perfect, it gave us an excellent view of the clear skies overhead and beautiful stars at night. It had a circle drive, so we didn’t have to worry about backing out. I was surprised to see a picnic table as well as a few stumps to sit on surrounding the fire pit. The picnic table definitely came in handy and the stumps were an excellent added touch. There was also a super clean outhouse on site stocked with toilet paper and books which I thought was very thoughtful and convenient. The trees surrounding the site were spaced nicely so I was able to put up some hammocks. Our visit was in mid-late August when the bugs were not bad. If hadnt had our small children with us we could have only used our hammocks and skipped the tent altogether. The location was perfect. It was about 40 minutes from Tahquamenon falls and pictured rocks, about 1 1/2 hours from Kitch-iti-kipi. There were a ton of other local attractions a reasonable distance away. Seriously I couldn’t have imagined a better location for the sights we had planned on visiting.
Communication with Cory was great. Anytime we messaged him, he got back to us immediately, even if it wasn’t anything most people would consider important communication. His responses were kind, polite, informative and very timely.
Our family will definitely be staying again next summer late in the season.

We loved staying here! Cory was very kind and really made us feel welcome, even making us a new fire pit before we got there. He was great at communicating and was always easy to get a hold of. Would definitely recommend his site if you need a place in between Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks. We were there for two nights and it was exactly what we wanted and expected it to be. We were two women camping by ourselves and felt very safe here. Would recommend.

Prime private spot in middle of UP, close to attractions and Cory is a nice dude! Even got phone service at the spot. If you have bug spray and a good fire the mosquitoes aren’t a problem but if you don’t they are.

Hey David- I appreciate the kind words- as far as mosquitoes go- you’re right on, the word mosquito is in the dictionary right under Upper Penninsula. They are worst in late spring, as you saw, however as summer dries everything up they are definitely not as bad and coming into fall there isn’t a mosquito in sight!! A bit of fire and bug spray go a long way if they are around!

Myself and two others enjoyed our stay here for two nights! The entry drive was overgrown but we made it in safely in our Toyota Highlander. The mosquitoes were brutal (early June) so make sure to bring plenty of bug spray. A great place to stay while venturing out around the UP!

Hey peter thanks for the honest review about the overgrown trail! I read it and actually went directly out to fill potholes and trim trees! Should be all set for you if you come back!

This was exactly what I wanted- it was woodsy ,private and quiet. Access to the lake is a plus, and we had a great time! Expect the mosquitos, but the privacy is worth the added steps for insects. Our host was very hospitable and looked after us from start to finish, we definently want to go back!

Very nice guy, very accommodating. We arrived pretty late and he met us at a local establishment to help get us to the location and even started a fire for us in the dark. I'm a big fan of the place.

Cory was wonderful. We travelled to the UP on a last minute trip during 4th of July and we were so lucky that we found something that was available. It was only a drive to Pictured Rocks so completely doable. There wasn’t another group before us, so Cory was extremely accommodating in allowing us to check in extremely early and set up our campsite so we could explore at our leisure. The site was easy to find and while it felt like you were in the middle of the woods alone... it’s just off a quiet residential street and there is a gas station with all of your necessities off the main road (so just a few miles away). Cory was always extremely quick to respond and it through the app messenger is definitely the best way to reach him.

Thank you, Cory, for the hospitality and the flexibility!
