Learn more about this land:Stunningly beautiful location in the heart of the Chugach Mountains ~45 miles east of Valdez, Alaska. Snow capped and glaciated mountains with active waterfalls surround this quaint valley known as the "Serendipity Homestead." Google search Mt. Billy Mitchell, Alaska, and you'll see what your campsite view will be, as this location is literally at the base of this gorgeous mountain. 2 rivers, the Tsina and Tiekel, and Stewart Creek (All glacially fed...) converge in this valley. This is a 10-acre property along the edge of the north bank of the Klutina River--a major king salmon-fishing stream that flows into the famous Copper River just one half mile downriver. That part of the property used for camping along the river is 3 acres. This is a SEASONAL location: Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend with NEW LOWER prices. At this time only the riverside sites (south side of the river dike that one drives across) are available for camping or RV parking. We have no power or other hook-ups on the riverside except that water is available on site through a series of new DEC-approved pipe and spigets, along with more fire pits and more picnic tables. Showers are extra @ $5.00 a person; Laundry tokens: $3.00 per washer load or 40 minute dryer load. Bar on site. Food service coming later THIS 2024 season. WIFI is only on the north side of the dike near any of the overnight rooms or the bar. We recommend no RVs to exceed 28 feet on the river side of the dike. Very private sites and spread out--far more so than other nearby locations. The public restroom is on the north side of the dike. AND we have several budget rooms available on the north side of the dike as well. In 2024, these go for about $100/night. These all have Dish Net, WIFI, and coffee in the rooms. This property is undergoing development. There is still a fire pit on the river side, as we have considerable brush to burn (not during the camping season, but brush is typically piled on the site about the time we open). Just to the east, across the Copper River, is the 12 million acre Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Our property is conveniently located in driving time almost exactly halfway between Anchorage and McCarthy-Kennecott. It is about 3 1/2 hours in either direction. At the Klutina you can charter a sight-seeing river boat or you can white-water raft from a point several miles up a historic trail that follows the river to its source--Klutina Lake and Klutina Glacier. You can obtain a visitors' license and fish here for salmon. You can also hike along the dike or numerous trails in the area.

We are a SEASONAL camp open late May through September, weather permitting. We are a laidback camp directly on the Klutina River. Our central location provides a great place to stay while exploring: The Wrangell/St. Elias Visitor Center just 7 miles from camp; Old Town Copper Center; the Worthington Glacier; The Klutina Lake Road is a great 25+ mile ATV trail; The Kennecott Shuttle stops at our camp and will take you to explore the town of McCarthy (where The Edge of Alaska was filmed) and tour the Kennecott Mine. There are several restaurants in the area and a gas station, mini-maty, liquor store and fish processing/shipping service about a mile from camp. We offer: FISH; fishing lessons, a variety of seasonal fishing charters, and our most popular FULL day "Alaskan Adventure of a Lifetime Excursion". In the river we have King Salmon available 1 July - 10 August. Sockeye salmon from June - September. Trout, Grayling, Dolly Vardan and other smaller species able to be targeted throughout the year.

Great campground! It wasn’t very crowded when we were there as the reds had already run through the Klutina there. So we had a peaceful, relaxing time at the campground. We were there 8/3-8/7. We booked full hook-up but there was no way we were going to fit with all three slides in the full hook-up up site, water, electric and septic. These sites aren’t for big rigs, at least ours wasn’t. We have a 35’ fifth wheel with three slides. The camp-host came out for about ten minutes offering a few ways to back in, then disappeared. After 45 very frustrating minutes of trying to make it work, a wonderful, frequent guest, Mary, and David in the office, found us the perfect pull through spot with water and electricity. Mary even walked us down to show us the spot. It was so wonderful we stayed 4 nights instead of one. There’s WiFi but you have to be closer to the office, which isn’t a far walk. You can fish right there, the owners are fantastic and so sweet. The showers are what you’d expect from a finishing campground, it felt great to take a hot shower though. The laundry is $5 to wash and $5 to dry. They will keep fish in the freezer for you for a small price. Most of the spots I saw were great. Super friendly people there and the location doesn’t get any better. We also had our two dogs with us who loved to go for walks around the campground and by the river. The campground was very clean as well and well maintained.

Secret gem that I wish only I knew!! We stayed at this RV parking for the 4th of July weekend. We didn’t come with much expectation but it was actually one of our favorite camping trips ever!! Ronald was so chill and informative. There were not too many other RVs or cars around our camper so we used large area more freely without worried about bothering neighborhood. We were able to get some fish from river too!! We can’t wait to come back 😭 P.s. - The bar can be little loud at night but we had a sound machine for kids in the camper so it wasn’t too bothersome - We used a dump station outside of the camp site (we couldn’t find one in the site)

Weekend Trip to The Raven's Den of the Chugach
Sweet camp site. Well stocked. Private. I felt quite safe letting my dog roam off leash. Parking IS tight. Follow Robb’s advice and walk the drive into site to make sure you can get your rig in and out with no fuss. I loved hearing the river off in the distance and all the birds singing. As I said a sweet campsite.

We had an incredible time at the campground! At king for a day you feel like you are apart of the community at a family owned and operated location. The ladies working the front desk in the office were very sweet and helpful. As well as the greeting committee, dogs Cooper and Lana. We were able to rent muck books to wade out into the river for fishing and got advise on how to travel up to the Kennicot Mill Town in Wrangell St Elias. They have fishing lessons available as well as seasonal charters for king salmon. Eagles awaited all around us for folks to pull fish out of the river. It was truly spectacular. Campsite was equip with everything we needed and we were also provided with the necessary extensions for our rv to have power. Outhouses were outhouses but clean and well stocked. Would love to come back in the future!

Amazing campsite! Beautiful mountain views, a nice firepit with some logs to sit on, and a picnic bench! Also, NICEST outhouse I’ve ever seen!! So clean, great cross-ventilation (= NO smell!!), and a great view of the trees! There is some road noise but the nearby river and birds make it hardly noticeable.
