We are located NW of Kearney in a rural setting. There are neighbors around us but not too close.
Being this close to a town, there are many activities and places to go. A few miles to the West of us is Cottonmill Park which has a good sized lake and hiking trails.
Within an hours drive there are fishing/boating and recreational lakes. The great Sandhills of Nebraska are just a little over an hour North to get to.
Pioneer Village is South about an hour and the Hastings museum is about the same distance only a little East and South.

Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge was the first national wildlife refuge established in Kansas. The Refuge encompasses 10,778 acres and includes prairie grasslands, open water, shoreline, wetlands, and wooded areas. Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge is known for the return of migrating birds and bird courtship rituals in the spring and fall migration of thousands of migrating birds. The Refuge is in the Central Flyway, a major travel corridor for migratory birds. It is also home to many wildflowers, plants, fish, and wildlife species that live here all year round.
Kirwin Reservoir covers approximately 5,000 acres of surface area. The reservoir is fed by both the North Fork Solomon River and Bow Creek. Kirwin offers outstanding fishing opportunities for crappie, walleye, white bass/wiper, largemouth bass and catfish. Check KDWP website for seasons and limits.

Daryl's place is so nice and comforting. Being on the road and needing somewhere that felt safe was super important and he had exactly what I needed. He came down to say hi to me and the kiddos (dogs) and was so sweet and wanted to know about me and my travels. Would totally stay again if I'm over that way. Also there's a big fishing reservoir near buy!

Easy check-in with Daryl, sites were very nice with water, electric, and sewage. Pads were good with limestone Rock. We enjoyed taking our dog on a walk along the gravel road. Big plus was no traffic and people. Nice and quiet!

Absolutely loved this wonderful campsite I mid-Kansas. Perfect for my dog and I. We took long walks, and he had so much to explore. Dave was super helpful and checked on us to make sure all was OK. But we had the place to ourselves. Very private and beautiful.

Garland and Lorna were so kind and accommodating. The site was clean, quiet and perfect for us and our two dogs. It was convenient to the interstate for our cross country trip, and although it was just one night we would definitely stay again!

It was easy to pull-in and park our trailer. The site provided power & water and we had 3-4 “bars” of 5G using T-Mobile. Using the directions provided, we had no problem finding the location. The host was very responsive.
We plan to return, next time we’re in the area!

Gorgeous spot! Hosts were so kind and helpful. We were facing some nasty weather and they made sure to let us know where to seek shelter with them if needed. It wasn't needed, but just the fact they cared enough to offer was so nice. Finding the place was easy, and the space is level and quiet.

It was great listening to the birds and critters. It was on the side of the pole barn next to the power and water. It was quiet once the sun set and great sleeping there. Garland greeted me and explained to surroundings. It was a very pleasant stay all around.
