Our campground offers camper hook-ups for water and electricity, although sewer facilities are not available from April - November a portable toilet is on site. During the months of December - March, guests must either have a camper with a restroom or bring their own camp toilets.
Conveniently situated just off Cullman County Road 222, our campsite is within a quarter mile of two gas stations, two independently owned stores offering short-order food options, and a Dollar General. While there may be some road noise from County Road 222, especially during daytime hours, it typically tapers off in the evening and nighttime.
Enjoy stunning views of the 4th of July fireworks from Smith Lake Park, as our property provides a prime vantage point.
Lewis Smith Lake, managed by Alabama Power, spans 21,000 acres and is the deepest lake in Alabama at 264 ft. The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited.
The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Strawberry Festival in April, Octoberfest in October, and Christkindlmarkt in November & December.

The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.

Such a nice spot and great communication. Really lovely outdoor shower and some cute fairy lights were a lovely surprise. Also free firewood was a real plus! The only downside was proximity to the road. It’s extremely close to the road. Plenty of fish jumping aswell, would be a great place to chuck a line in.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Bates Farm. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Hosts went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. Our host greeted us upon arrival and showed us to the spot. They were accommodating throughout our stay. Bathhouse was very nice, well stocked and cleaned often. It was a rare treat to have a hot shower while camping. We plan to come back and explore more that they have to offer like the awesome archery ranges.

Very nice and I will return. Two half baths, two full bathrooms, free laundry and ice. Each campsite had a fire ring, picnic table and garbage can. The hosts had firewood available, snacks for $1, a very nice community room. I didn't have time, but the property was 45 acres and you could definitely enjoy a nice hike. Less than 20 minutes to a decent sized town with a Walmart and everything else you could need.

We stopped in for one night on our way up to Kentucky but couldn’t be happier with our experience. We chose the playground spot as we didn’t need hookups but there was a big homeschool group there so Wayne and Mary moved us to an empty spot on the other side of the campground which was amazing! Hot showers, flushing toilets and a camp kitchen were a surprising treat! The hospitality was through the roof! Highly recommend their space!

Our fist time we tent camped at Bates farms. It was the perfect place and beautiful scenery all around. The second stay was a 10 day Rv camping. My spot i needed electricity hook up. I was close to restrooms, shower house, washer and dryer also ice was available there was an ice machine. My stay was very convenient close to where I needed to be. If you love to walk and explore like I do you want be disappointed. Beautiful place and nature all around.

This was our first time glamping, and we really enjoyed our stay! The campground was peaceful and beautiful, and our tent looked out into the trees with a view of the creek below. There was also a trail to explore and a beautiful pond with lots of ducks. It really felt like a special place.
They truly thought of so many details. Our tent had lights, charging stations, nightstands, , a fridge, plenty of sleeping space, towels, bottled water, a Keurig and just about everything we could need. We ordered firewood and s’mores, but there was also a propane fire option available. Even the path to our tent was lit at night, which made everything feel magical.
The bathrooms and showers were clean and centrally located. The tents are fairly close together, but ours still felt peaceful and had a wonderful view from the deck.
We happened to stay during extremely hot weather, close to 100°F, so keeping the tent cool was a challenge. Overall, though, we had a wonderful first glamping experience and really appreciated how much thought went into making the tents comfortable and welcoming!

Chris is great however due to his schedule we did not meet him until the last day on our way out. He was still readily available for all my questions and gave great info on where to go nearby! The site was nice and clean we did do a little hiking to the cave but mostly just slept there. We had everything we needed.

Weekend Trip to Unhitched Cullman Campground
Wonderful stay! It was nice and cool inside the tent considering how hot it was outside. The bed was super comfy, I’d love to come back during winter!! The hike was so pleasant in the morning.

not a bad campground, i was at site 37, not level but my rig did ok in leveling, some to see around the area but nothing to offer at the site, no pool or games or anything, and because i reserved this through hipcamp, they wouldnt give me the military discount. didnt understand that' i might stay here again if in the area,
