Bear Den is a small camp with 3 Glamping Tents, 2 cabins and shower house. Outdoor spaces for relaxing. We are located approximately 5 miles from Custer State Park, 11 miles from Keystone the Gateway to Mt. Rushmore in the beautiful southern Black Hills.
Cabins have electricity, our tents do not have electricity. Cabins and showers are heated and open year round! All sites including 'bring your own tent' sites have access to the shower house and outdoor grilling areas.
Pick a spot to pitch your own tent, one tent per space. If you have 2 tents please book 2 sites. We have 3 spots cleared. Hang your hammock in trees around the property. This option includes all access to the shower house and outdoor grilling areas!

Hillview Lodge was a cozy dream home away from home. I wish I had time to stay more than one night, but I do plan on returning in the future. I didn’t use the shower, but the bathroom house in general was clean and just a minute walk away from Hillview. I used the firepit at night too, ate some s’mores that were provided + had coffee in the morning before departure from provided Keurig coffee station. Would definitely recommend to any camping fantasy loving nerd!

We loved staying at Bear Den! Tammy and Tim are the most welcoming hosts — we immediately felt like a part of their family! As our 5-year-old told us when they went back to their house after greeting us… “They’re so nice, I wish they didn’t have to go.” :) The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We were extra impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, and amenities we didn’t expect. Our kids loved exploring the property, seeing the stars at night, and waking up to watch the deer right outside the cabin. The location was great, and pretty central for all the things we wanted to do. Our whole family hopes to visit again, and we will tell all our friends to make a trip to the Black Hills to stay with Tammy and Tim!

We had the most amazing time at Lil Bear! Tammy and Tim are so kind and made us feel so at home! Our cabin was stocked with little snacks, was so cozy, had heat, coffee machine and it was just the best! Would absolutely recommend for a weekend getaway!

We loved staying at the Bear Den cabins! Tammy gave us clear instructions to where/how to find it and was very communicative and friendly! 😊 The location is quiet and secluded, other than the sound of the neighbors clucking chickens (which I loved!), and the passing turkey and deer through the property. We had our two dogs, which I reached out in advance about having multiple dogs and she was very accommodating. We’d love to be back!

The cabin was cozy and just what we needed. We did bring a mattress topper as we noticed from the images the mattresses are thin and I would highly recommend bringing a topper. Tammy and Tim are wonderful hosts. They took me out to their disc golf course in the back. They made rounds every night to wish all of the campers good night.
The location is peaceful with animals like dear and turkey walking around in the morning. It is close to so many of the cheife attractions in the area.

The scenery and lodgings were 6 stars! Everything was so nice we figured it would make up for barrack shower stalls and pit toilets, but No! We were pleasantly surprised again by the individual bathrooms in the restrooms and shower building with fresh fluffy towels! I hope to stay again, and I’m definitely telling my friends!

We absolutely loved staying here for one night! We chose to go into Keystone for a quick dinner, but wanted to get back in time to watch the sunset from the outdoor patio area and have a fire under the stars. The little touches, from the S’mores kit to the decor were unbelievable. The bathrooms were a welcome surprise with lots of personal showers and toilets in the bathroom area. Would completely recommend staying here to anyone I know!

My wife and I loved camping at Bear Den Cabins and Camp! We stayed in one of the cabins and it was great. Tammy was great host and very welcoming. The campground was clean and the bathrooms were spotless as well. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here!

Super pretty campsite. Definitely check the weather before you go because we had a terrifying storm rush in. Ended up dropping the tent as fast as we could and sleeping in the truck. The storm and winds shook the truck 😂
Lots of wildlife and walking trails around the campground too! First come, first serve so get there early’

Rode our horses, saw buffalo close up. Park Ranger was amazed when we asked where we could ride: "anywhere you think you can!" he told us (back home in Wisconsin they have designated bridle paths)

Been to Badlands many times. Great to drive through and enjoy the park when tripping along I-90. The only time we camped was at the dispersed camping site just inside the Westerly entrance. The site is situated on a beautiful overlook, and it was a blast visiting with the many other boondockers while enjoying the view!

A bit difficult to find what you’re looking for as the park is not gated and only marked by small signs at certain entrances, and hardly any cell service. I’d reccomend downloading offline maps before going! There’s an overlook near the park called red shirt or something along those lines that I’d highly reccomend.

So many amazing views!!! You can drive through and just stop at all the scenic outlooks but there are so many different hikes available too! This visitor center also has pretty cool NP stuff, not just Badlands NP stuff, I spent way too much haha!
