Shivering Timbers is a lovely, quiet campground. The sites are flat and open but somehow each site is secluded by pine trees. It is just 3 miles from Lower Tequamenon Falls to the West and 7 miles from Paradise to the East. Each site has a campfire 'ring' and Tim sells wood. We would highly recommend this campground.

Tim was our first experience with Hipcamp. If Tim is an example of what we can expect from other hosts (after careful scrutiny), we will be loyal customers.
Tim, if you see these comments, please pass on a suspicious event to Hipcamp management----The VERY day we signed up with Hipcamp, our cell phone was bombed for about 10 days with spam calls. Finally, by blocking each call, it suddenly returned to the usual level of junk phone calls. Perhaps Hipcamp was hacked???

The state park pales in comparison to the this wonderful campground!
Stephanie and her family put love into what they do and it shows. The grounds were so well kept, the atmosphere was relaxing, and Stephanie was warm and welcoming! She shared stories, local treasures to go see, and was a delight to talk about life with. Her kids help around the camp and have the best firewood service I’ve seen!!
This is a rustic campground (which we prefer. It keeps the normies away), but they have well kept porta potties and if you need a shower the state park is a few minutes down the road and offers showers for cheap.
All around, this is a fantastic family environment that is growing beautifully! We will never go back to the crowded state park after finding this gem!

Site 5 was large, flat and private. Shivering Timbers is a great alternative if you can’t find a spot at the state park. Campground was quiet, firewood was for sale. Tim and Stephanie came around and introduced themself to everyone. Would recommend for your next trip to the UP.

Great peaceful place to stay . Tim and Stephanie are exceptionally nice people and we enjoyed talking to them very much. There’s a nice lawn area with games . The toilets were kept very clean and there’s drinking water. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for providing and for all your hard work!

Tim and Stephanie were super accommodating. We had a bad experience at the state park close by and booked site three on short notice and they were very nice to work with us. So peaceful and quiet. We will definitely come back to their place again.

Really great campground. Nice and close to Tahquamenon Falls (convenient for our trip this time).
While we only stayed a night, the hospitality was fantastic and found the campsite to be great. Good little spot and clean, ready for a tent. Will certainly be back the next time we’re up in the UP!

Trust me, we looked!
Instead you'll find: An adventurous young family trying to make a dream come true. The owners; Tim, Stephanie, and their boys all pitching in to make a memorable experience for their campers. The rustic sites are quite large so you feel like you have your own sanctuary. The site is the perfect location to make a trip to the falls, to Whitefish Point or into Paradise to check out the local shops. With firewood delivery by the sons, we had a fire burning all three nights we were here. We brought our own grate & made meals over the fire.
The stargazing is amazing. We saw birds, chipmunks, bats, squirrels, and an owl. We came for a relaxing camping trip in the woods & came away with friends. We'll be back again and just maybe, spot some Aliens, Bigfoot or a moose.

Everything went great camping here. My fiancé and I decided we wanted to go to Tahquamenon Falls over Labor Day weekend. We were finding it hard to get a site at the state campgrounds even 3 months in advance. Shivering Timber’s is rustic camping but they had sites available to reserve or as drive ins. Tim was amazing checking us in and giving us some info of the area. It’s a family campground but if you like peace and quiet while camping you will have it here. Most of the sites are bigger than the state campground sites and your only 3-4 miles from lower falls. If you need a shower the lower falls offers them for $5 at both campgrounds there. Highly recommend staying here you won’t be disappointed!

Tim was very kind, respectful, and helpful. The property is well taken care of. The area feels very remote, personal, and peaceful which was perfect for our group. By far the best camping trip that I have been on.

Fiancé and I had a good time at the campsite, It was our first time at the upper peninsula in michigan and Tim was a great host and was a good kind hearted person and father. We expect to be back up there in the future because we felt comfortable. Overall a good camp experience.

What a wonderful spot! They provided anything we could have needed, and were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. The other camp spots were close, but not too close to cause any issues. Someone was always nearby and ready to help if/when we needed it. There seem to be a lack of camping sites in the area, and I am so glad to know of this one! It was basically next door to Tahquamenon Falls, which worked wonderfully for us. We'll definitely be back :)

Great little camp ground. It was exactly what we were looking for. Absolutely loved it! Host was accommodating and stopped by periodically to check in and see if we needed anything. Super cool guy. Will definitely camp here again. Would highly recommend.

I camped here and it was really nice! Super close to Tahquamenon falls and Paradise, MI. The host Stephanie stopped by and was super nice. We got firewood from the hosts and they provided us with a fire starter. I really enjoyed our stay!

Tim was very polite, accessible, and accommodating. The campground was rustic, clean, and quiet. We were able to purchase firewood on site. We had easy access to trash bins, porta potties, and non-potable water. This family owned and operated campground was a great basecamp for our day trips to the Tahquamenon falls and Whitefish Point. We also took note of the yard games for common use and a community campfire area. Highly recommend that you give this place a try on your next trip to Paradise, MI.

Very easy to find and have helpful signs to follow to get you to your site. Host was very welcoming and helpful. Offered firewood to purchase and local dinning options since it was an extremely wet night. On top of that, 5-10 min away for lower falls!

We stayed for only one night while passing through, but after seeing the grounds, we would love to come back! We arrived after dark, but Tim still greeted us and was so kind and welcoming. Such a nice and quiet, family-friendly site. Would definitely recommend!!

This was another fantastic Hipcamp experience! We would highly recommend a stay here. Site #7 was private, peaceful, and a great size, with a convenient location near the outhouse and water hose.
Stephanie was so kind, helpful, and friendly—always making sure our stay was smooth and enjoyable. She gave great local recommendations and made us feel right at home. The campground itself is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the Tahquamenon Falls!

Wow! Stephanie was the best! The campground was very well kept with a nice picnic table and firepit by each spot. The location is incredible and is just minutes from Tahquamenon Falls! Just remember to pack loads of bug spray as it was very buggy!

We got lucky getting one of the last sites here and I'm so glad we went here instead of the state park. Quiet, lots of space and the hosts are very welcoming. Only suggestion is that while we knew there was going to be water, it wasn't posted online that the water was non-potable. Luckily, I had a filter on me but make sure you fill up on water at the state park before you camp. Thanks!

We loved staying at this camp. Both hosts were very welcoming, gave us a small gift bag that we appreciated and treated us very nicely. We felt comfortable and welcome there. It is a nice place to camp, super close to taquamenon falls.
We would recommend and stay again in the future when visiting the UP.
