Button Farm is absolutely beautiful. From the moment you drive thru the gate you will experience peacefulness. The grounds are beautifully maintained - the areas to camp are mowed impeccably, the picnic tables and fire ring are in great condition. The port potty has a privacy fence around it for extra privacy and it’s very clean.
There are two areas for you to camp wether you choose a tent or vehicle camping. The first is around the fire ring. This area is closer to the ports potty and the picnic tables. There is enough room for several campers at once. The second camp spot is way far out in a field! It’s gorgeous! You can drive a smooth grassy lane out thru a wide open space with knee high grass on both sides. The lane will take you out to your own private circular area with a fire ring. There is also access to 20+ miles of trails as part of the Seneca Creek State Park. Trails are color coded but be sure to make a copy of the trail system before heading out. Also, as soon as you enter the farm at the gate, there is a trail that literally crosses the grassy driveway. I saw a biker crossing as I was leaving!
Steven, your host, is super friendly. He gave me a quick tour of the place and then left me to explore! There are geese, chickens, and a beautifully maintained heirloom garden. This property is only 15-20 minutes from the heart of Gaithersburg, but literally feels like an entirely different world.
Book this place, you will LOVE it!

It's easy to imagine a large group of friends camping here. The heirloom garden here is so beautiful!Happy chickens. The driveway into the property.

We had a great time—perfect spot for a first campout with kids. Enjoyed the serenity and privacy of the big field, hikes easily accessible, nearby portapotty, and fun farm animals to visit. All the folks there are great—very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to coming again!

We spent one night at the beautiful Button Farm and enjoyed every moment of our time there. The farm is large and calm and conveniently located between trails. Steven who greeted us on arrival was very kind and helpful. The portapotty was the cleanest I've ever seen. Looking forward to coming back.

This is a great place to camp near Seneca Creek, and there is plenty of privacy and space--we were the only campers there on a holiday weekend! On the property they have heirloom chickens, geese, and pigs, and the fields abut hiking and mountain-biking trails. Highly recommended and a very short drive from DC!

Overview: we really enjoyed this private farm campground. We stayed at site 1 of two sites. Per their policies each sure can accommodate 12 campers. The fire pit area and port-a-potty were both very clean and you can tell that they are taken care of well. You are able to drive right up to the camp area and we kept our car right next to our tent. There are nearby chickens, geese and pigs.

Host: our friends arrived prior to us and were greeted by the host. They said he was friendly and explained everything well and even had firewood already set up at the store that has been purchased by the previous campers. I thought this was incredibly nice considering they didn't have to leave the wood there for us.

Site: the sites are both grassy, level and well maintained. Both are easy to get to, although I wouldn't recommend attempting to drive to either in a small car. Site 1 is closer to the house, animals, potty and other buildings on the property. The fire pit area is clean and is surrounded by trees. Site 2 is more isolated but is still pretty close in distance to the animals, home and structures. However it is separated by a line of trees and you are camping more in a field. We choose site 1 die to its proximity to the bathroom and picnic tables because we were camping with small kids.

Bathroom: the bathroom is a port-a-potty and was cleaned right before our arrival. Several reviews I read mentioned that it was the cleanest port-a-potty they had ever seen and they were correct. It is surrounded by a privacy fence which was nice. It was relatively close to the site and was stocked with plenty of toilet paper and included hand sanitizer.

You have the entire site to yourself
Two options for camping with bathroom nearby
Nice hiking trails with varying lengths, easy to hike even for a 3 year old

If you are a light sleeper the geese, rooster or planes may keep you awake
We did find a snake skin, but you are out in nature
The structures didn't give the best view, but you can always choose to face away from them or use site 2

Would definitely stay here again.
