Perfect first camping trip w/ baby
Lovely, spacious campsite. We wanted somewhere private for our first camping trip with our 7 month old and this was an ideal spot. Steve was very friendly and available to answer any questions. Our kiddo loved seeing the pigs and geese too! We hope to be back soon.
Mountain biking at schaeffer farms
Thank you to Steven and Button Farm for a wonderful stay.
My wife and I wanted to try mountain biking at Schaeffer Farms Trailhead so we booked a one night stay at Button Farm.
Mountain biked Saturday, arrived at Button Farm later in the day, Steven was a gracious host and showed us our site, we set up camp, grabbed some snacks and bike/walked down to Seneca Creek/Black Rock Mill to rinse off and cool down.
Headed back to the farm, grabbed some dinner at Pho House in Germantown, camped the night away, woke up to a beautiful morning on the farm.
Packed up our tent and headed out for another beautiful ride at Schaffer Farms Trailhead.
Ideal location if you are looking to camp/hike/bike in the area.
Look forward to bringing a group back and checking out the other campsite!
Thank you Steven and Button Farm!
Beautiful farm. great host.
Great, friendly host. Beautiful space. Lots of great hiking/biking trails that connect directly to the farm (And great guidance from Steven on picking a route). Looking forward to staying at Button Farm again.
Great place to stay
I’ve been itching to take Genny Jean, my 1968 vintage travel trailer, out for an overnight stay. I found a local farm on Hip Camp for her 1st experience. Button Farm is a living history museum in Maryland. It is quiet and quaint. A great place for a quick, no frills getaway. They only have a portapotty so bring your own showering set up. The host was responsive and easy to reach. I enjoyed my time there and plan on going back one day soon.
Return to button farm
Very much enjoyed this 2nd visit to Button Farm, and Steven again was a welcoming and gracious host. Despite arriving on one of the hottest days of the summer, a brief evening thunderstorm dropped the temp by 25 degrees, with a cool breeze in the roof top tent and perfect for a good night’s rest. I had looked forward to exploring some of the nearby trails that I had seen last time, and having a close look at Black Rock Mill, which made for a nice walkabout the next day. With another storm arriving on the 2nd evening, I still have not been able to enjoy the panoramic view of the night sky, which will surely motivate a return trip. Great stay, and highly recommended.
Quiet, peaceful and fun
Our 2 night stay was wonderful! Steve met us at the entrance to the farm then took us over to the site which was large, neat and beautiful. It was quiet, peaceful and filled with bunnies, a fox, geese and pigs to keep our two small kids entertained. We hiked the Seneca Creek trails and even swam for a bit. There is a large fire pit (no grate) and two picnic tables. Steve was quick to respond to messages, friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend and we will be back!
Wonderful time staying here. Perfect spot for families with small kids and plenty of space for them to run around and peaceful for the adults too. They loved walking over to see the pigs and geese and walking through the garden. There is easy access to Seneca creek right down the road where some people were wadding in the water, and hiking and mountain bike trails as well. Stores and playgrounds are less than 10 minutes down the road if needed. Hosts were friendly and got us settled in quickly and comfortably.
Stevens farm is a very special place. It’s stunning in it’s beauty & simplicity. It was very quiet with lightning bugs lighting up the trees. We walked to the creek each night to swim. We rode thru the groomed fields on our moped. We saw several deer every evening and even a fox. Steve was gracious and helpful and respectful of our privacy at the same time. As a mom traveling alone with her teenage son we felt very safe and comfortable. The commuter train into the city was easy and 3 miles from his farm. We will definately stay here again.
