This place is fantastic! Selfishly (and jokingly) we said "we cannot give it the review it deserves because then everyone will want to rent it and we want to come back all the time! Because it was literally the best weekend I've had: no joke. The land is beautiful. There are wildflowers in constant bloom. We went on a new moon and saw countless stars both nights of our stay. The tiny house has plenty of windows that keeps a perfect breeze blowing. There's a treehouse! The campfire site is great. We went on a bike ride and to the beach. But also just stayed on the land one day and reconnected with each other and nature. It was perfect. We will be back.

My husband and I had a great time camping here! The small cabin is well stocked, and the land felt very peaceful and secluded. We also enjoyed hiking the Butler Lake trail and went antiquing in nearby Plymouth. We want to come back again soon and bring our bikes!!

Bird watchers paradise
Wonderful, peaceful setting right in Kettle Moraine. Abundant wildlife, birdwatching and the hiking trails occupied our time. Witnessed a red ear turtle burying her eggs by Butler Lake.
Simple, rustic and a gem for a quick getaway

OMG! What an absolutely amazing first time using HipCamp!!! I can’t say enough about Mark and his property- we and our dogs loved it! The property itself is impressive- vast meadows buzzing with honeybees, birds and butterflies! As someone who’s trying to create a pollinator garden in the city, Mark’s set-up is top notch! We loved watching all the bees and wandering the trail on the property. As pop campers who are usually off grid, the cabin itself was luxury! Comfy cots, windows on all sides, a fan, vacuum, refrigerator, drinking water, dishes, drinking water, wash water, hot water pot, toaster, games and a composting toilet!!! Although very minimalistic, every detail was well thought out! We spent our nights around the fire amazed by all the lightning bugs and the stars- stunning to see! And finally, communication with Mark was awesome! We took several of his recommendations as he contacted us before our trip and went over his favorites and tips! We have been camping in the area several times, but he gave several recommendations we hadn’t known about. We ordered 3Sweets for an incredible breakfast and bakery goods, stopped at Long Lake, Butler Lake and of course went to Hamburger Haus! But honestly the most fun we had was relaxing in the property and watching our city dogs have the time of their life! We can’t wait to go back- thank you Mark for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

AMAZING
I loved the site that mark provided me with. Me and my pupper had a great time exploring the property. I had a little bit of difficulty finding it, but I think that might have just been in my end. I would 100% recommend to anyone! Thank you mark!

McDundee Hollow is a basic but well designed cabin and host Mark is easy to work with. Springtime visits can feature sandhill cranes bugling at dawn and flying past the cabin, barely overhead. Warblers and hummingbirds arriving on south winds.

Glamping for the win!
I am so glad we found this oasis on a whim! The weather was too cold for us to tent camp but Mark’s place gave us exactly what we needed, a warm, comfortable place to sleep and spend a Midwest Spring Break together. The fire pit area was lovely, the cabin was so well stocked, we saw various wildlife, were steps from beautiful hiking, plus there was heat and electricity. It all made our stay very enjoyable!

It is just really drafty for a winter spot. The space heaters couldn't keep up with how much cold air was coming in. Obviously camping in Midwest February is it's own risk. It was just a very very cold experience.

Not a winter get away cabin
The building itself is small and basic. Overall a decent spot. For February in Wisconsin, not quite an ideal weekend. The wind was crazy, super drafty with wind coming in through a few of the windows. Doors blew open several times. Space heater didn't quite cut it with subzero wind chills.
The kitchen space lacks a pot and can opener so BYO if you are planning to use those. There were paper towels, plates, bowls, and plenty of silverware. The induction burner didn't warm up so that was a bummer. Cots are wider than what i expected. Could see as a nice summer space.
Also the outhouse is unique using peat moss to "flush" with. It didn't smell amazing at 12°, I can't imagine at +70°.

Cozy winter getaway!
Mark’s cabin was the perfect cozy getaway! It was a great space for myself, my wife, and our pup (who loved having all the space to run around in the snow). We stayed warm while using the heaters, and all of the amenities are exactly as described! Really enjoyed hiking the Butler Lake trail and part of the general Ice Age trail in the area. Again, very dog friendly and beautiful views! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Nice! Cabin is simple but very well thought out. Abundant windows let you take in the evening sky, moonrise, birds and other sights. Rural setting with the Ice Age Trail a mile away and the extensive state forest.

Relaxing and Unique Camping
What a great little slice of heaven! Nice, clean, relaxing spot in a gorgeous field of flowers. You feel away from it all, yet still have many places nearby for food, biking, fishing etc. Definitely a nice spot to get away from it all!

Great site - great host!
Mark was great and communicative. The property is beautiful and you are secluded by yourself, if you like to get away. Amenities are close by with lots of activities and things to do with the family. We would highly recommend the Hamburger Shack in Dundee as well!

Such a fabulous site. My kids loved the treehouse - and I loved how well-stocked and cozy the cabin was. The location is incredible! I will absolutely be back.
McDundee Hollow camp and small RV
Mark was excellent at communicating and the campsite was very clean and well maintained. We used the site as our home base and spent the days biking to Kettle Moraine, only a short ride away. This site is a great option if the sites at Long Lake are full or if you want more of a secluded experience. The treehouse would be a lot of fun for little ones and there’s plenty of space to explore. Overall a very nice campsite.
The only downside for us is that the site is in 100% sun which got very hot during the day. There is a small shade canopy over the picnic table, but it got way too hot to hang around camp during the day. Nights and mornings were very pleasant, just be aware of the heat if you’re someone who likes to relax at your campsite in the afternoons.

Wisconsin prairie hideaway
We have stayed here twice, once in early summer and once in early fall, and we'll definitely be back. The Wisconsin prairie setting is peaceful, with abundant wildlife and beautiful sunsets. Highly recommended!
