Imagine looking out the Lisney Grand Log Cabin window and realizing that the landscape has remained virtually unchanged for over 10,000 years! While most of the State was covered and scraped by glaciers of the last Ice Age, this small section of the State was not. Hence, its geology remained intact. Locally this region is known as the “Driftless Area” and encompasses both the Kickapoo Valley Reserve State Park (8,600 acres) and the Wildcat State Park (3,600 acres). In this area, archeologist have discovered a total of 596 sites dating between 10,000 to 12,000 years ago inhabited by ancient people. This includes ancient campsites, farming areas, linear and conical mounds, once-occupied rock shelters and many petroglyphs. And if that’s not enough to wake-up to, then enjoy the fresh air, clean water, the breath-taking views and the daily visits of wild turkey and deer. This Amish built cabin is 1500 sq.ft. and is minutes from hiking, biking, paddling the Kickapoo River, food and beverages as well as world-class trout fishing, snowmobile and horse trails.  Lisney Grand is a two story, two bedroom one bath cabin with an additional large sleeping loft. Open floor plan includes a full kitchen, dining area and living space with a cathedral ceiling. The cabin and grounds are filled with original art from artists across the United States (some available for purchase).  Enjoy the beautiful sunsets and amazing views of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve State Park (8,600 acres) while swinging on the porch swing located on the porch that wraps around 3 sides of the cabin. The yard contains a picnic table, fire-pit, and direct access to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and its trails.  Please note that the cabin has a wheel chair ramp off the front porch and that the main Living room, Dining room and Kitchen are open design, however, shower/bathroom may not accommodate a wheel chair. Lisney Grand Log Cabin
The cabin was the perfect lodging and location for a fun weekend in the driftless area with our friends. So close to so many amazing places. We kayaked the Kickapoo, hiked at Wildcat and the Kickapoo Valley and explored the surrounding towns. Love the cabin, its amazing porch, full kitchen, and artwork. Brian was an excellent host! We have also loved staying at the other property, Rustic Ridge! We will definitely be back!

Great place. Close to Kickapoo for kayaking. Sleeps up to 10 and we filled it up. Many kitchen and eating utensils for all. Fire wood burns forever. Good deal. Highly recommend.

Lisney Grand Log Cabin
Our families had an incredible stay at the Lisney Cabin. We love the setting, open space, and access to the many things to do in Kickapoo Valley. The cabin is very comfortable and easy to relax and make yourself at home. Our 8 had plenty of space! Thank you to our host Brian who keeps the grounds looking beautiful!

The cabin is beautiful, clean, and well appointed with everything you need. The host is friendly and accommodating and there is lots and lots of outdoor stuff to do around the area, hiking, canoeing, wineries, and shopping. If you’re looking for a quiet peaceful getaway, this is a good choice!

Lisney Grand Log Cabin
Wonderful cozy cabin that was perfect for our family of 7 (with plenty of sleeping room to spare, although note that there is only one small bathroom)! The location is perfect, only a 5 minute drive from the Kickapoo Valley Reserve visitor center and Wildcat Mountain State Park. This is the ideal getaway if you are looking to spend a few days hiking in the area. The cabin itself was reasonably clean upon arrival and well stocked with cooking appliances/utensils, wood for the fire pit (you can pay separately for an entire wheelbarrow of fired wood), board games, and basic cleaning supplies (eg. dish soap, sponge, broom, etc.). Brian was very welcoming and responsive. We appreciated his flexibility with changing the check-out time over the holiday. Would definitely stay here again!

Fun in the Driftless!

We had a wonderful time at Brian’s place - it was well-equipped for our 5-night stay! We enjoyed paddling the Kickapoo, shopping at the local farms, yarn and bookstores in Viroqua, and hiking at Wildcat Mountain. Can’t wait to come back!

The Lisney Cabin was spacious for two families enjoying the Reserve. It’s convenient to hiking, biking, kayaking and very peaceful as we enjoyed dinners around the picnic table! We can’t wait to come back to Brian’s cabin.

Clean cabin in good location

This cabin was super clean and comfortable. I really appreciated all the original artwork around the cabin and enjoying simply being in a log cabin. Lots of beds if you have a bigger group. We enjoyed sitting on the back porch swing looking at the hills and land. One thing the description and pictures do not make entirely clear is that there are other houses on both sides of the cabin so it is not in the middle of no where. Plus side: there is a good bar w great food you can walk to. Down side: you are not in the middle of no where. Close to wildcat mountain and canoe opportunities. Brian was super helpful and answered our questions quickly.

Lisney Grand Cabin was everything we hoped it would be - clean, quiet, and air conditioned! Haha! Kitchen was well stocked for cooking meals, bathroom had enough hot water for all four of us to shower each night after a day full of fun activities. Owner let us camp one night on his sister property, Rustic Ridge Resort, and the experience was wonderful, our boys loved it. We ate dinner twice at Rockton Bar and loved the good food, atmosphere, and friendly staff.

Brian's cabin was the perfect lodging for a fun weekend in the driftless area. The property is beautiful and Brian was easy to communicate with and accommodating. The cabin easily fits a group and we enjoyed having the full kitchen to make breakfast. Will definitely be back!

Peaceful Cabin in the Valley

We really enjoyed staying here. It was a very snowy and cold weekend but the cabin was warm and well suited for our family. Our son loved staying in the loft. The kitchen was great for family meals and games. To top it all off we were in the middle of the Kickapoo Valley with lots of hiking and wildlife, even in the middle of winter.

Lisney cabin was quite amazing. A very nice quiet get away for me and my girlfriend. Clean, and very homey. Everything you need to stay in and cook. We had a fire NYE and Brian was more than accommodating with getting it started. Very close to some amazing scenery and hikes at Wildcat Mountain. Easy to find and the Rockton bar is a block away to rent kayaks or to have a bite to eat and shoot some pool. Locals were super nice and the food was great. We had an amazing time! Only recommendation would be Wi-Fi. It was nice having no TV but hard to plan hikes without using your phone and just a map. We will be back for sure!!!!

Lindsey Grand was a great stay for our family of 6 plus toddler. It was clean, spacious and easy to access. Brian responds quickly to our questions. We would recommend it for a stay in the Kickapoo Valley

We had a wonderful last-minute July 4th booking. Lisney Log Cabin was less remote than expected (we were expecting deep forested land), but we were pleasantly surprised with everything- tidy surrounding inside, great outdoor escapes outside. We did a cool canoe ride down the Kickapoo River and drove into Wildcat Mountain State Park, we later had a nice fire in the fire pit and enjoyed some bird watching from the back porch. Also, there was soap and other conveniences… but did need to bring bed sheets. AC was nice!

Peaceful and cozy

This trip was just what we needed. We enjoyed the porch swing and making s’mores in the fire. The little ones slept well in this cozy cabin. Also appreciated the beautiful forest views from the cabin and nearby hikes and canoe trips. Loved the Saturday morning market in Viroqua and Wonderstate Coffee, too!

Great stay, at a great cabin!
Lisney Grand Log Cabin
We really liked the cabin. Neat and clean, and very accomodating. It has very quiet surroundings, and is close by to hiking on both paved and unpaved hiking trails, plus canoeing and kayaking very close by as well. Brian the owner checked in on us, and we also had the pleasure of meeting him personally. We will keep the cabin in our future plans to revisit the area.

Brian was a wonderful host and the log cabin is a perfect scenic getaway! Our group was very comfortable, the scenery is amazing, the home was great for cooking meals & hanging out, and it’s so close to really nice hikes. We also used the fire pit and had a great night. Brian was really friendly, easy to communicate with - all in all exactly what you could want in a great host. Our whole group agreed this is a spot to return to!
