Hoppensteadt Hills

Very last minute, I realized I needed to go camping: my stay in Site 1, Birch, was just what I was seeking for some nature nurturing. The site was private as promised (in fact I had whole campground to myself) and beautifully tucked in the woods. The yurt tent is well designed (side pockets, table in middle around center pole, also with pockets for stashing gear). Outhouse was a bit of a hike, though even the walk was pleasant, and so clean: the automatic light inside (and solar lights outside) was unexpected nice touch! I enjoyed the barred owl, sand hill cranes at night; great blue heron on one of our hikes on the property. I didn't think about it being duck hunting season, so the early morning and late evening distant gun sounds were scary for my dog, and the 2nd night fox barking was quite startling! But a good reminder we're in the woods! Maryam was helpful with answering questions during booking.

Outdoor Adventure, Come Prepared

Site 3 - Red Oak

We had a nice stay at Maryam’s campsite. The tent was clean and the area was peaceful, which made for a relaxing night. We arrived after dark and quickly realized how dark it gets since there are no exterior lights provided—definitely recommend bringing plenty of lanterns or flashlights. The grass and surrounding area could use a bit of trimming as it was a little overgrown, and we did notice quite a few large spiders both on and inside the tent, so keep that in mind if you’re not a fan of bugs. The queen-sized air mattress we brought barely fit inside the tent, but it worked out okay. The host wasn’t super responsive, but we did appreciate being able to check out late, which was a nice touch. Overall, the experience was good and we gave it five stars.

Birch site

I had a wonderful weekend at Mary Ann's property. I was in the Birch site which was very private, with lots of trees. There was a place to hang my hammock and the yurt was very comfortable. Have a beautiful trails to walk on, and I could hear lots of wildlife. Marianne was very warm and welcoming and can't think of one single complaint.

Camping here was an amazing experience, the trails are beautiful and so is the campsite itself. It was very private and clean. Staying here gave me a sense of solitude my wife and I were looking for to get away from our hectic lives!

Birch site- excellent!

We absolutely had a marvelous camping weekend at Maryam‘s land. The whole family is so friendly if you want to connect. There are four sites far enough apart, where you feel like you’re the only ones there, with an occasional friendly noise further away. Our anxious dog had the best time exploring and felt very safe being away from our suburban neighborhood. They clearly take good care of their land, they even have the most beautiful and delicious Honeycrisp apple farm – do yourself a favor and buy a bag on your way out. The Porta potty is the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. Ever. Smells great, Maryam said they switch it out every week, there’s even a mirror in there and it’s always fully stocked. It was a highlight! There are beautiful paths to explore – plenty of quiet time in the canopy of woods to read, play games, cook over the fire. Having the large, clean tent already set up made the weekend a bonus! We could fit 1 queen sized air mattress, 2 cots, and still had plenty of space for our stuff. We had a wonderful weekend – we’ll be back and will recommend to others!

Beautiful property. Lots of wildlife. There was an owl that kind of scared us because it was so close, but that was pretty cool. The mosquitoes weren't too bad. There's swimming adhd other adventures near by. Would definitely camp here again.

Lovely campsite and lovely property! Having the tent already set up was perfect for one night with two 6 year olds. The fire pit is in really rough shape and we had to create a rock barrier to be able to have a fire safely but other than that everything was great.

Cute campsite! Private, and well off the road. Easy distance to interstate st park to do some hiking. Has a tent, fire ring, and picnic table and was exactly what we needed.

Perfect Campsite!

Maryam is such a lovely host! I’ve camped here twice and thoroughly enjoyed my experiences. The yurt is in excellent condition, the porta-potty is clean, and the campsite location is near some beautiful hiking areas. Highly recommend!!

Camping Under the Stars

My husband and I had an incredibly restful weekend camping on Maryam's land. Her and her husband were so responsive and kind!! Site 4 was spacious & private with a fire ring and grate provided to cook on. It was a quick walk to the (very clean) porta-potty, which had an automatic solar light inside so it wasn't pitch-dark. Beautiful view of the stars at night and lots of wildlife to listen to. We're definitely planning to stay again!

This spot made our weekend so fun! Maryam made sure everything was set up for us when we arrived and answered any questions we had. It was conveniently located close to town but far enough that it was quiet and absolutely adorable! The space was perfect for us and our dog. It had trails to walk through, was close to hiking spots. Everything was amazing! 10/10 would recommend and we can’t wait to go back!

Small town paradise

Beautiful campsite! It was great having the tent set up and ready to go. Lots of land to explore around the site, and only a 30 minute drive from Taylor’s Falls. Maryam was the kindest host and a pleasure to meet. Highly recommend exploring the charming town of Amery while you are there!

Remote Feel Close to Town

Lovely site near amenities in town with remote camping feel. Lots of privacy because sites are spaced far apart. I could not see anyone’s site from ours, just woods. ☺️ The outhouse is about a 5-7 min walk down the gravel road from this site. Very dark at night, which we like so we can see the stars! 🌟 the river was about a 10-15 min walk, depending on speed & route. We enjoyed their trails through the woods. The river was refreshing for a dip but lots of murk at the bottom when you get out, so be prepared. Maryam and her family were lovely! Her family’s land is a gorgeous piece of property. The town is less than a 10 min drive if you forget anything or don’t want to cook.

The host was very kind and came to see us upon arrival and right before checkout(we unfortunately had left already). Picnic table, grill for the fire and fire pit were provided which was nice and all items were clean and well maintained. There were a handful of us and a dog so we expected for space to be a little tight around the site but it was spacious and we had plenty of room to do activities and relax without running into each other. The Porta potty was standard but very very clean. It's a little bit of a walk but worth it to have access to a bathroom. The yurt was spacious and clean as well. We were able to fit 2 large air mattresses in it and there was still some space to move around a little. Town is about 5-10 minutes up the road if you want to go to the river or lakes in the area. It's super cute and we loved walking through it and fishing off of a dock. My only complaint if I was to have one was just that the site markers could be more noticeable. We went right past it the first time through, they were about to have extra houseguests. 😆 All in all it was a nice site with clean amenities and wonderful hosts.

My family and I (including a 2 and 4 year old) stayed for a night at Camp site 1. We enjoyed our time! The site provided nice privacy, (though we were the only campers there at the time), trees surrounding the site, and was a short walk to the port-a-potty near camp site 2. The tent was spacious, with enough room for us to put up a full size blow up mattress, pack n' play, and toddler size mattress, still left with enough room to play games on the ground. We went on a walk and explored some of the many trails! Maryam greeted us upon arrival, answered questions and then was on her way; left us with the privacy we wanted for the remainder of our stay. We got breakfast at a diner in Amery in the morning, nice to be so close to town, but still feel "wilderness-y/outdoors-y" at the campsite. Would recommend!

Yurt Life Is Amazing

What a lovely site! Beautiful trails, tons of baby toads, and it was such a relief to get there and not set a tent! It was also literally just around the corner from a sweet little down that was celebrating National Night Out, so we got everything we forgot just 10 minutes away. We are already figuring out a plan to revisit again!

Hosts were incredibly friendly, land was beautiful! This was our first ever Hipcamp experience and it did not disappoint! This was a true camping experience without the hassle of setting up our own tent! The tent itself was spacious and clean and I loved the layout of the campsite (the perfect hammock trees were an added bonus!). Campsite #4 is closest to the road so you do hear cars driving past from time to time. Not bothersome, but next time I’d probably book site #1. That being said, we didn’t see or hear any other campers during our trip!

Shady, wooded site was nice. Mosquitoes seems to be bad everywhere in MN and WI due to so much rain I guess. Tent was great—spacious with nice screen windows. Site 4 is closest to highway, so kept dog close or on tie out.

The camp layout was awesome! The trees provided great shade, and perfect for a hammock. The tent was very spacious. Fire flys light up the night it was a very magical moment. A get away close enough to town in case of any needs.
