Echo Valley Farm

We had a great time in the Straw Clay Cabin! It was clean, cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed this unique cabin, including the woodland animals that are built in to the walls, and also having some information available in the cabin about how it was constructed. We also enjoyed hiking around property and seeing the chickens and sheep wandering around! Overall a great stay, we'd be happy to come back.

Cozy cabin on a beautiful farm!

Echo Valley Farm is absolutely beautiful, and Maggie's Cabin was just right for what we were looking for! Dena was wonderful - kind and helpful and willing to accommodate a scheduling mistake on my part. The cabin itself was cozy and warm, and the farm was beautiful - rolling hills, grazing sheep, and forests in the distance. Echo Valley Farm is just right for a trip to get away from the demands of daily life and slow down a bit!

Maggie’s place

My husband and I stayed in Maggie’s place, a cosy cabin with a screen porch. The setting was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed walking up the hill for the view and watching the chickens, cats and sheep. There are no cooking accommodations, you can bring a camp stove for the picnic table.

Cozy home base in wonderland

We loved our stay at Echo Valley Farm. From the Milky Way right above Maggie's to the wondrous valley floor (OMG, the [nearby] trout streams! could the earth be more beautiful?? but I digress.). The sky is dark enough that even in full or half moonlight the stars are brilliant on clear nights (evenings and early mornings). Also, magical fog. Also, watching chickens and sheep every morning (roosters too :-) from front porch or picnic table. The beautiful, healthy ash tree in the front yard that can be seen from inside the cabin will soon be all gold. The wood burning stove kept the cabin more than cozy when it was near freezing. The beds were comfortable, as were the abundant linens. Wood for indoor heat is provided (firepit wood for sale), a small coffee pot, electric tea kettle, a selection of teas and some coffee. Note, there is not a swing at Maggie's any longer, which I saw in one of the pictures. That was the single disappointment, I had a whole fantasy in my head about sitting on the swing with the chickens & sheep in the yard. It was Echo Valley's 1st lesson for me, a very mild lesson in attachment. Emphasis on mild. So instead, I sat on the screened porch, sometimes while petting one of the cats & delighted in watching them from there. The scones were [chef's kiss]. Echo Valley Farm was a great home base from which to launch numerous and varied adventures to the wonderlands all about the region, and even better to return to. And I will return.

The orchard cabin was so comfy! I slept great out there, and was greeted in the morning by the rooster and his ladies. On the second morning the sheep came by a the kitty! So quiet at night and a sky full of stars! Great coffee too!

Gorgeous restorative little weekend

Such a gorgeous experience at Echo Valley. Came for two nights, went kayaking on the Kickapoo nearby, beautiful stargazing from the land at night, beautiful walking paths through fields and woods, time to visit with sheep and chickens and kitties and apple trees. such an honor to drop into and feel held by another’s deep relationship with the land. And omg the bakery on Saturday morning ✨

A cozy cabin amongst the sheep

My partner and I booked the rustic orchard cabin for two nights for her birthday. Lauren and Dena were gracious hosts, with Dena showing us to our cabin and telling us about the book she'd written (which we both read and enjoyed--thank you, Dena!). Before leaving our first morning to kayak on the Kickapoo, I stopped in to Lauren's bakery and bought a lemon blueberry scone and a cinnamon roll, both fresh from the oven. They were incredible. I've been to some good bakeries, but Lauren's scone and cinnamon roll were the best I think I've ever had. The scone was moist with balanced flavors and just the right touch of sweetness. The cinnamon roll had just the right amount of icing, firmness to the outer crust, and soft, buttery layers within. The many trails through the orchard and fields were quiet and peaceful to walk in the evening (with many deer sightings), and the morning visit from the sheep left me giddy. I would happily stay here again. What a magical retreat for my partner's birthday. We both loved it here. Thank you, Lauren and Dena!

Rustic Spring Cabin

We really enjoyed our stay at Echo Valley. It was quiet, private, and beautiful. The bakery was just a short walk away and made for a very pleasant morning. It is clear that Dena cares deeply for her land and sharing it with guests - I recommend this stay for anyone who is looking for a nice, peaceful time.

Nightly Serenades to Sooth the Soul

Our experience camping here over three days was wonderful. The tent site was nicely manicured, with a trail leading through their orchard up to a sunset view that is not to be missed! Expect a symphony from wildlife every night, including coyotes, owls, crickets, katydids, frogs, birds, etc. Very peaceful and well worth it. There is a ton to do in the area as well - besides trout fishing, we especially enjoyed going to many of the Amish-run stores, including Amish Walmart. We will be back!

Lovely weekend getaway

Rustic Spring Cabin

We stayed at the rustic spring cabin at echo valley farm and it was perfect for our girls weekend! The cabin stayed nice and cool in the shade with the fans going. Awesome to have access to the electricity and sink. Beds were comfortable and the property was stunning. The outdoor shower was very relaxing. Compost toilet was nice and clean. Didn’t get a chance to purchase anything from the bakery but Dena let us check it out before we left, very cute! We will be back for sure :)

Beautiful Camp Site!

The various trails were wonderful to have as an option to explore. We found a spot with some trees and set up hammocks and read. The sheep and chickens were awesome to see free roaming about. The bed was actually very comfortable, and we appreciated that a fan was provided. That was helpful during the humid nights

Dena was extremely personable and kind. Our first night it was raining, and our tent wasn’t too waterproof. She cleared off the porch of one of her old cabins and offered us there to sleep for the night. She was more than happy to help with anything and the bakery was amazing!! I recommend the brownies:)

My second stay at Echo Valley and once again my time there was quiet, the Apple Orchard cabin is cozy and comfortable. Enjoyed the sheep and the chickens as they wandered the land. Nicely kept trails to walk the land. A truly peaceful place. Dena communicated as needed and her kind ways appreciated.

Very cool spot. Didn’t get to see much of the goats as we would’ve liked to but that’s just because they stayed in their pen most of our trip. The area is awesome. Ontario is just down the road and check out Cashton for an Amish experience.

we had a lovely time at Dena's Rustic Cabin in the apple orchard (late winter/early spring). It was perfect for a quiet getaway, with no cell service (verizon), in a lovely setting. The stars were abundant. Dena was a lovely host and brought some wood to burn for the cold nights.

This was my first time staying in the Straw Cabin but my third or fourth time staying at the farm! It was a bit big for just me, it would be good for a group! It stayed nice and warm through the cool night, i only used the space heater the first night. I would definitelt stay here again!

Back to Nature

We spent two nights as guests in Maggie's Cabin. Great views of the night sky and wanderings of sheep. Plenty of mowed paths to wonder along. Overall, we felt like we were a part of something special. Dena and Lauren are great stewards of this very special farm community.

Peace, quiet, and dark night sky

I loved the rustic cabin in the apple orchard! There is one full bed, a sink, potable water, and just enough electric amenities to give the cabin the comforts of home (light and a coffee maker). The bakery is great, especially if you need that morning caffeine. We didn't use the shower, but it was nice to know that amenitu was there. I was hoping to catch the Perseid meteor shower, and the minimal light pollution here was great and the few shooting stars I saw were vivid (we were on the early side of the predicted meteor shower). Great place, great hosts!
