Open area camping, grilling, campfires allowed. Enjoy easy access on and off the South Branch of the Potomac River near The Trough between Hardy and Hampshire Counties. Mostly primitive camping with limited facilities. Tent camping only with private access situated nicely for an overnight float trip stay over between Fisher Bridge and Romney Bridge public accesses. See WVDNR public fishing access. If you’re into fishing, this Potomac River (south) branch has good smallmouth bass, rock bass, silver channel cat, carp, sunfish species opportunities. Trough canyon 6 mile floats provide good opportunities to spot bald eagles and other wildlife. Property is 5 miles from Moorefield, WV and Corridor H. Quiet camping other than occasional live music which ends at a descent time.

Peaceful. Very quiet area and easy access to the river. Very close to a Walmart if you forget any supplies. Tim was very nice and welcoming and gave good recommendations for hikes and fishing.

I spent one night at Tim's Hipcamp property on 10/14/25 as I passed through the area on a motorcycle trip. Tim, his wife, and I had a brief conversation when I arrived at the provided address. They were welcoming and provided clear directions to the designated campsite. The site was rustic but nice and private consisting of a grassy level spot for my tent and a fire ring which I did not use. The site was not far from a pleasant river with a short pathway to the river. I felt safe at this location. I've since marked this Hipcamp location and Host for future travels, if I need a campsite in the future. Wayne

We enjoyed our stay at Tim’s. The spot was beautiful right on the river and Tim couldn’t have been nicer! The fire wood we bought from him was great! Would definitely stay again

We stopped for a quick overnight on our way to Seneca Rocks for a Memorial Day backpacking trip. We got in late and had a little trouble finding the place in the dark, so it was such a relief that Tim answered our phone call! He was so understanding and had stayed up to greet us while stoking a bonfire to keep us warm. He told us his number one priority was safety and told us the history of the area. He gave us the lay of the land and invited us to pitch tents wherever convenient. 10/10 would recommend staying at Tim’s. He was so friendly and knowledgeable! We’d love to come back for an outdoor concert sometime.
