Sweetwater Farm is a recent addition to the campuses of Experience Learning, a non-profit outdoor education organization dedicated to developing effective community members through beyond-the-classroom outdoor learning opportunities.  In addition to sustainable farming, our programming here includes camping, navigation, stewardship, natural science, natural history, and leadership.  When not in use for programming purposes, we would love to have hipcampers come and enjoy this beautiful space.

Pasture in the Valley
Lovely outlook
We enjoyed our short stay overnight in our RV. Power was provided for us and we were shown through the adjacent building where there were toilets and a kitchen. The outlook was great and it was lovely and peaceful. Great hosts.

Pasture in the Valley
As a first time user of Hip Camp, we definitely had a great experience. We were prepared to "rough it" in a tent but having access to a bathroom with running water really was fantastic, especially after a day of traveling and getting a ton of rain. We went to see the changing leaves (and nearby maple syrup trail) but we would definitely like to return in the spring/summer to camp out again.

Beautiful WV landscape & seclusion
Wow! This was our first HipCamp experience and it was incredible. Katrina was super awesome and easy to communicate with and her directions to the spot were perfect. Tip: download the directions before you leave - I did not have service an hour out from the location in all directions. The property is beautiful as you enter it from the rolling hills of the WV farmland. There are cows and deer that dot the landscape and a small stream that you cross over to get up the hill to where you park. The site is level and it was easy for us to park, even after the rain, but don't forget that you share this area with cows, so watch out for cow pies :) We did not access the community center, but it looked awesome! However, you are allowed access to the bathrooms and showers....which were so greatly appreciated. Hot water! You could spend hours walking around the property or driving up and down the road checking out the beautiful scenery. It's also super easy/about an hour away to get to Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob areas for hiking and other activities. I recommend this spot if you are looking for total seclusion in nature. Thank you, Katrina!

Pasture in the Valley
Incredible Camping Experience!
What a beautiful property! It is virtually silent, besides the wonderful sounds of nature. The site was large and spacious and very private. The bathroom/showers were as clean as to be expected (besides the daddy long legs keeping the other bugs away). We camped right in front of the fire pit and brought our own firewood. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet Katrina due to COVID. But, she provided detailed directions and instructions for me and my boyfriend. She emailed the day before letting us know everything to expect and sent a hand-drawn map detailing how to find her farm (no reception in that area). We even got to meet some of their cows that wandered up to the campsite. The property is breathtaking and massive. We only stayed for 3 nights and were rained out for about half of the time but we got up early and did some light hiking and enjoyed every moment. We even made friends with one of the hummingbirds that was hanging out by the site. Overall, the entire experience was awesome and we plan on coming back. We drove from 6 hours away and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Wild and wonderful!
We had a fantastic time!! We wanted a place that was quiet and peaceful and away from other campers... Pasture in the Valley delivered!! No cell service or internet was a great benefit, we wanted to get away! Our kids had a blast exploring the woods, fields, and creek and loved meeting the farm cat and dogs! Navigating the area to different attractions (Cass, Seneca Rocks, Blackwater Falls) was easy with a map. The area is just beautiful and serene. We plugged our camper into electric and used the bathroom/showers they provided. It worked just fine for our family.
