Meadowcroft is a semi-primitive cabin on the bank of the beautiful Meadow River. Swim, fish, and hang out with the river otters. It's like camping, but with a roof over your head, WiFi, A/C in the summer, and a cozy wood stove in the winter. A large lawn with fire ring fronts a long section of lazy river (perfect for paddleboarding, tubing, canoeing, etc.), with worldclass whitewater beginning about a mile downstream. Premium bouldering is two miles away, Meadow sport climbing 10 min., Summersville Lake 15 min., and all other NRG-area climbing and National Park within a 25-min radius. Like Camping, But a Cabin The cabin is a lovingly souped-up Amish-built shed. Like camping, you bring your own sleeping gear and most of your cooking gear, and you pack everything out and tidy up after yourself. ***Please take all trash with you when you leave. THERE IS A $100 CHARGE FOR TRASH LEFT BEHIND*** This is a self-cleaning cabin, which means *you clean up after yourself to prepare for the next guest* (not that it cleans itself, unfortunately). This keeps the costs down for all the guests. Up to two dogs are allowed for an extra fee of $40 (for your whole stay). This option is available as an Extra that you need to add when booking. Cooking equipment present
Stovetop or hot plate, sink or other dishwashing station. You need to bring most cooking gear. We provide a refrigerator, two-burner propane camp stove (on the covered porch), an electric kettle, and basins and drying rack for dishwashing. There is a folding table for meal prep on the porch (or wherever) and a small counter in the cabin. There is no sink, no plumbing, no cookware, cooking utensils., or dishes. That's all up to you to bring and take away with you. Like camping.

We provide two folding tables that are portable and eight folding chairs (best used inside).
Wifi available
Slow (still DSL here in the holler), but good enough for Zoom meetings, Netflix, and WiFi calling, if your phone is so equipped. The owner often works remotely from the cabin, with frequent Zoom meetings and a VPN work connection.

Meadow Riverfront Cabin
The cabin was a great way to unplug and get away for awhile. I enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning next to the river. It was closely located to many trails, parks and lakes. (10-20 minutes) Ryan was a great host and communicated promptly! Highly recommend.

This cabin is in a great location. Remote enough but convenient to a lot. The river view was nice although there was quite a bit of old rusty metal and broken glass in and around the river access. The cabin itself was roomy and cozy. It mostly exceeded our expectations.

Great little cabin, affordable, coz

Awesome little place even if it's snowing. Snow on the ground and the little rocket stove was great because we had no heat in the vehicle! Beautiful stream and the bathroom facilities are always a bonus even if outdoors. Everything was clean and inviting. The host was very responsive and had lots of ready to burn wood for sale.

Awesome spot on the river! Like camping only we stayed dry, cool, and connected (wifi). Traffic sounds can be loud at times given the location to the road but we soon tuned it out.

Nice little cabin on the rivers edge. Not hard to find, and despite the steep driveway my little car did just fine. Close to the New River Gorge National Park (all the visitor centers were within an hour drive) which was our main focus for our visit so that was perfect.

Great spot on the Meadow River. It was myself, my mom and kids. The kids slept outside in tents and me, mom and my niece slept inside the little cabin. There was plenty of room for us in there and the added bonus of AC was really nice! Fridge and microwave came in handy too. We were prepared for roughing it but were happy to not really have to do it all the way! Porta potty was very clean and not that bad.

Lucky Last Minute Lodging!

The cabin was cute and had a beautiful river view! My partner and I needed a place to stay last minute and it did not disappoint! AC worked great, everything was clean and private portapotty was well maintained. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Super cute spot, perfect for any outdoor activities in the area, helpful guidebooks on the shelves, board games, good internet. Abundant cleaning supplies. It’s really nice to have a clean place to go after wearing yourself out in the wilderness.

Great place to stay!

This place would be great for an extended stay - we wished we had more time there. The property is a great location on a scenic river. Waking up to a dip in the water was a highlight! The cabin itself is extremely tidy, cozy and cute, and included more amenities than expected. We saw a kingfisher, a deer, ducks, and fish jumping. Heard coyote in the night. Only wish we'd seen a river otter... maybe next time a I'm sure we'll return!

Lovely and chill cabin. Perfectly situated on the river. Primeval swimming holes just up the road. Whipporwhil climbing area 14 minutes away. Had a great time for the second time!

My partner and I stayed at Ryan’s cabin with our friend who was visiting and it worked out great! Super easy access to the national park and Summerville Lake. It was very quiet, peaceful and clean. We recommend staying here if you’re looking for an affordable place to camp near the park but want peace of mind about the unpredictable weather!

A really great location , and just the right amount of amenities inside. I also felt really safe being able to lock the door behind me . I would defiantly go back but be sure to reserve a few days ahead to give the host more time to send instructions for getting in. Service isn’t great out there either so be prepared!

Charming Cabin on the River

Ryan’s cabin was super cute and just what we needed! He was super accommodating and the dogs, my husband and my sister had an amazing time. We are planning on making New River Gorge a 1-2 times a year trip (it’s a good half way point between where we live) and we’ll definitely be back to this place! 10/10 recommend!

Ryan's cabin was the perfect spot to get away after a long day of hiking the parks. The yard was spacious and peaceful for a fire, outdoor dinner, and to enjoy the wildlife around the large creek just outside your door. The cabin was spacious and comfortable and Ryan was very accommodating. Don't wait for your chance to enjoy this serene setting.

We loved staying at Ryan and Darrah’s cabin! We got to experience a wood stove, snow falling all around, and of course the national park. Had great coffee and met interesting people at Range Finder in Fayetteville. Our dog had the best time because she got to stay off leash.

Lovely, large cabin by the water with enough amenities to make for a comfortable experience. Enjoyed sitting on the porch looking out at the water while we had our meals. Lots of windows provided a beautiful way to enjoy the nature surrounding the cabin. Plenty of tables and chairs plus fans and a portable heater assured us we would be comfortable. Cute vintage refrigerator had plenty of space for our food and drinks. Portable outdoor bathroom was very clean. Ryan was efficient, prompt and always responded to any questions we had. We would come here again.

Meadow Riverfront Cabin
We loved the peaceful, quiet river views here! There are a lot of places to swim, paddle, and rock climb nearby so it's a great little adventure spot too. The cabin itself is very cozy, clean, and has a lot of helpful amenities - Wifi, clean water, portapotty, fridge, etc - so it has definitely a glamping feel to it. We loved how quiet and private it felt, very much a relaxing stay.
