Nomadic camping

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

Conscious camping a mile from Sutton Lake Dam in West Virginia. Our campground serves as the perfect retreat. A place to unwind, with minimal to no traffic. Off a backroad, with a few creek crossings along the way. You know you are really out in nature. Our property offers lots of places to hike, although in the heart of summer, it can get a little overgrown (Plus critters, yikes!) The creek that runs up the Holler is the perfect place to explore. Low enough to tromp around and catch some minnows. The real winner is Kookie's homecooked meals available for purchase. Using the best ingredients around. Often organic and locally sourced. We can sell eggs, make traditional Spanish bread, offer various treats, homemade delicious ice cream, or even prepare full meals for your crew! Check out our 'Extra's for ordering. Whether you are here to relax and unwind, or enjoy the wild outdoor adventures such as kayaking and hiking. Lots of horseback riding opportunities, or take a walk along the Elk River Trail. Perhaps you are here to meet Braxxie, the Flatwoods Monster. Speaking of... are you interesting in Cryptics? Bigfoot? Ghost stories? Monsters? Do we have some stories for you. Visit our local theatre and catch a live play this summer. Take a seat at the Cinema, grabbing a bite to eat at the Marquee Grill. Visit the Farmers Market on Summer Saturday Mornings. Catch a game of Magic the Gathering or play Nintendo at the Cardboard Colosseum. We are a working farm and do have a flock of Chickens and Guinea fowl. We also are very Kitty friendly here. Unfortunately no dogs permitted at the 'Fairyland' property. However, you can keep your friendly dog on our 'Down the Holler' site. There is always a friendly animal to visit with. Please make sure you are respectful to our home and animals. Keep in mind, the creek can run high in bad weather, so I recommend an all wheel drive car, or with high clearance. That being said, small cars will get through when the creek is down. This is primitive camping. No toilet or shower our amenities are available.

The Fairy Land site is a beautiful 1/2 acre completely surrounded by trees and mountains. You'll have your own creek access to explore. The space is relatively private. Down at the end of the property in a secluded section, but you can still see the homestead. This site is accessible by parking at our home and hauling your gear about an acre down our property. It's an easy, flat walk, taking you past our chickens along the way. You can easily pitch 3 tents in the area for a weekend getaway.

This site is further down our property, completely private from our homestead. However, it is right off the gravel road. Making it easier to access with vehicles. We can take RV's here, although there are no hook ups or electricity. This is the perfect site to book for a family gathering! Big enough to host multiple mid sized RV's. You have access to the creek, and a nice wading area. Fun for the kiddos to play in the summer. This site can accommodate friendly dogs as long as they stay onsite or on leash.

Wonderland!

Fairy Land

This camp is absolutely incredible, it’s tucked away in a beautiful spot of the mountains right next to the lake. There are tons of friendly kitties around and some very affectionate chickens. Acadia and her Mom are the nicest people in the world, and their baked goods are the absolute best around. It is criminal not to get some! They will make sure you are comfortable, and safe from anything that may pop up. There are also tons of trails around to explore in walking distance and you are also minutes from downtown and the lake. This is a must stop place for anyone to camp at nearby!

It was a very nice stay in a quiet secluded apot and the host was very nice and helpful would come back anytime I'm looking to stay in the area.
