We really enjoyed our weekend at Bear Creek. With only one campsite on the six-acre property, it’s a great place if you’re looking for privacy and don’t want other campers nearby. The site sits down in a wooded ravine near the creek, and the woods and terrain make for a really pretty setting.
The host was very kind and gave us a tour when we arrived, then gave us our space for the rest of the weekend. He checked in through the Hipcamp app when a storm was approaching and also asked if we needed more firewood. The complimentary firewood was a nice touch, and it burned great.
The site has chairs, end tables, a picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire ring. There are also a couple walking paths around the property, although they are very short—the longest only took us a few minutes to walk.
Privacy was probably the biggest plus for us. The host’s house is at the front of the property and the campsite is all the way at the rear. You can see a portion of the house from the campsite and occasionally hear neighboring dogs, but otherwise the site feels very secluded. Being clothing optional was also a big plus for us and made it a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the privacy.
The road down to the campsite may be challenging for some vehicles, but that was actually one of my favorite parts of the property.
We had 1 bar of AT&T 5G if we needed to use our phones. We would stay here again.

Jim is a wonderful host and the campsite is just as advertised. Jim ensured all needs were met, had plenty of firewood at the campsite, and the RV with a flush toilet was clean and comfortable.
This campsite is easy to get to and very secluded. Many beautiful trees create great canopy and aesthetic. The site felt safe and comfortable and was able to enjoy my clothes free camp without worry or concern.

What an amazing place to get away from it all. Quiet and secluded, Jim’s oasis in the West Virginia woods is worth the drive! Nestled in next to a babbling creek, we hung out naked under the stars and amongst nature. It was truly amazing.

We had an incredible weekend at Jim’s property! If you are looking for absolute privacy and a true 'back to nature' feel, this is the spot. Being the only ones on the property made for a very peaceful and secluded stay.
Jim was a fantastic host—super friendly, welcoming, and very willing to help us navigate the terrain and get our 20-foot pop-up camper set up. While the drive-in can be a bit of a challenge for a 20-foot rig, we made it work, and Jim’s help was invaluable in getting us settled.
The location is perfect: extremely private, yet only about 25 minutes away from Winchester, VA, which has some great restaurants. Highly recommend this site if you value privacy and getting back to nature. Thanks for a great weekend, Jim!

Rest and relaxation were the goal for my stay and Jim's property delivered. There was plenty of seasoned firewood for the firepit and an RV, if needed.
Jim is a great host and is nearby should you need him.

I had a great peaceful retreat from civilization for a couple nights staying at Jim's site. From booking, to arrival, and past day check-in, Jim was such a great host and was an awesome communicator. He gave great directions and met me upon arrival for greeting. His dog, name already skips my mind unfortunately, was equally as cool. Just how you'd picture it. We had a nice tour of the RV and the property, chatted for a good while over some good conversation. Jim is a steward of the land, and you can tell he has great care and love for everything on it, from the tree tops to the ants, which he promised were harmless, and they were :). The rv itself was well equipped and was crucial for night 1 as a bad storm rolled through for about 20 mins. It stayed cool during the day with well ventilation and the bed above the cab was more comfortable than was expecting. The sound of the babbling brook and other sounds of nature while you lay in the camper was my Walden moment. Thank you, Jim and pup! See you guys again soon!

Jim's camp spot is a 10 out of 10! I'd deduct one point for coyotes all night, but nothing he can do about that! Plenty of firewood was available. Chairs and table were provided. Very dog friendly. A small creek is nearby for dish water. The RV was cool and definitely a luxury! The women appreciated a civilized restroom. Jim is super friendly and respectful. It's obvious he's worked hard to get the spot ready for campers.

So wonderful!! The space is amazingly beautiful and private- very peaceful. The host, Jim, provides great firewood, fire ring, table, chairs, dog-friendly, idyllic woodsy setting. We can’t wait to come back- the path to get there can be tricky but we’ll worth it- Jim helped us when our 21’ front-wheel-drive rig had trouble and we were good to go. Can’t say enough about how much we loved this spot. We also appreciated booking at the very last minute. Host was incredibly accommodating- we’d give 10+ stars if we could!

This site has it all. Privacy, no other camp sites nearby. My dog could go off leash. Camper on site with private toilet. Four comfortable chairs and two side tables provided. Picnic table provided. Nice creek that sounds wonderful and my dog loved. Host is a great communicator. In late May, still no mosquitos.

Lovely spot. Grateful to Jim for renting it to just one group at a time. Our dog had the time of his life and we had wonderful, quiet respite. His RV provides water and a toilet, that worked well for us. The firewood pile was amazing. Jim is an attentive, responsive and friendly host. I highly recommend his campsite!

Mr. Jim’s hidden paradise was just that, and I’m here mid March! Arrived at a beautiful, clean camp, fire pit full and ready to go; ample cut, stacked and cover firewood 😁
The bright stars, and sound of the Brook in the evening… breathtaking.
Mr. Jim was a fantastic host, I felt privileged to be his first ever Hip Camper. Jim’s the kindest, coolest, most down to earth gentleman I’ve met in a very long time! He went above and beyond for my pup and I, even provided a gorgeous camper for us to use the restroom, and sleep in as it rained and became windy.
Worse part of this trip… having to leave! Will definitely be back soon!
