Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R&R, as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups and in order to keep the campground as a single site, larger groups are given preference. Birdsong comes early here, and crickets and frogs light up the evenings. There aren't any city lights, so stargazing is a real delight. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest, and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp, you will find a rustic kitchen with three picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is a sink for your convenience so remember to bring water containers for hand and dish washing. The resource area for campers is at the second gate and has an electrical outlet, a water hose, and a wagon for transporting items to camp. We have several items for sale, including nice firewood bundles, farm-fresh eggs, and snacks for hand-feeding the farm animals. Lawn games (volleyball, badmintton, bocci ball), hammocks, a parachute, etc. are available for rent. We are Michael, Summer, Judy, and Chula, and we are pleased that you are considering a stay with us! If you have any questions or need special accommodations, please reach out, we will be happy to help if we can. If you do book, we are certain you’ll enjoy making Pleasant Places your outdoor home-away-from-home:) PS Looking for a bit more comfort while camping? Check out my sister's new place...Kearney Creek Retreat on Hipcamp.Follow a deer trail through a budding forest or pick a bunch of wild blackberries, apples, mushrooms, or flowers. Enjoy communing with our feathered friends in the barn-yard - if you are gentle and calm, they will eat from your hands. Other animals include deer, skunk, coyote, and possum - bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out. While the campsite, play space, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild, so tromping shoes are advised. The play space has a net, so gather your games, or don't bother packing them and just rent ours. Locally, lakes Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. If it's hot, stop by Three Dog Cider in Ethel for a refreshing and delicious pint. Just five minutes away, Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing opportunities, summer concerts, and a playground for the kids. Grab a latte at Backroads Coffee on your way. Also, check out the Herold Observatory, the second largest telescope in the state, and learn from a brilliant host who will be happy to answer any questions you might have about our night skies. One last thing... I have an often disabling chronic illness, so your stay at Pleasant Places, is a very real help in hard times. Thank you so much. Unfortunately, my energy is limited and the space is large, so I ask everyone to follow 'Leave No Trace', as outlined by Hipcamp. A little cleanup on my part is expected, but please do not bring any micro-trash such as glitter, confetti, spray foam, candles/wax, sidewalk chalk, or any other item that takes from the natural beauty of this place and could be harmful to animals. Also, a compost bucket is provided for you to wipe all of the food and grease off your dishes before washing them. Not doing so leaves a stinky mess that attracts bugs and animals to camp. It also requires that I dig out and clean all the rocks in the drain. I know the sink is super helpful, so let's work together to keep this amenity in camp, yeah? If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, I am happy to help if I can!
